  1. http://www.teamfortress.com/images/posts/soundbytes/SOLDIER_buttescortedfrombank.mp3 This should make for some good mashups.
  2. I think Gamelor was the crazy Quake fanboy.
  3. Yeah, I was hoping there'd be some drivers to make Windows recognize the card as just a standalone co-processor instead of an actual video card. Though I just realized my mobo has only one PCI-e slot, so even if it were possible I wouldn't be able to take advantage of it.
  4. The server was absolutely dead last night, what's up with that? Was the debate that awesome?
  5. This will always be the best RKO.
  6. Interesting. I actually have a copy of GRAW sitting around...could I actually re-install my old 8500GT and use that to supplement my 4850 as a PPU, or would mixing ATI and nVidia drivers create some dark energy vortex in the time-space continuum? (Actually that would be pretty awesome.)
  7. Ha, shoulda known this was an Iwadare soundtrack. Great source, great oldschool-style arrangement. OCR needs more of this classic feel-good stuff.
  8. WTF @ the IC grab glitch. Never seen that before.
  9. Prophet may not be an ATI guy, but I'm just going to jump in and vouch for the Radeon HD 4850. It's got ridiculous amounts of power considering the $140-150 price range (after rebate), even beating the 9800GTX+ in certain benchmarks (ATI's always had the upper hand when it comes to anti-aliasing), and the initial complaints of heat are no longer an issue now that dual-slot versions have been released. That's the key thing to remember, though - get one with a dual-slot cooler, or else you'll be looking at 70-85C idle temperatures. As sort of a side-perk, it comes with an onboard 7.1 sound card, which'll be invaluable if you're into home theater. The 9800GTX+'s gimmick seems to be the onboard PhysX processor, so if you plan on playing games that support physics acceleration (there aren't a whole lot) it might be the card for you.
  10. Just came up on my 1001-1250 list. Kinda surprised it made it through the lockdown, considering the considerable Terminator theme usage. Must've been the FOLLIN BIAS. That aside, decent track. I'm gonna have to agree about the weird transitions though. Like at first I thought my player had gone to the next track, but then 2 minutes later the Terminator theme comes in again and I'm like "wait I'm still listening to the same track??"
  11. You can play decent games for $500-600 if you pick the right parts. I built my TF2-playing box for under $800 and prices have plunged since then. I'll let prophet give you an actual quote though because I'm too lazy to do research.
  12. Well, if I had to choose one or the other, I'd probably go for the graphics card. Either way though, put in a request in the "sale/want thread" in Gen Disc; I'm sure somebody will have the parts you need for cheap.
  13. Yeah, I don't understand timings completely myself, but yes, the lower the better. I believe you can tweak the timings if you're careful, but it seems a lot more difficult and risky than overclocking your CPU or graphics card.
  14. Overclocking will make your game run a little smoother, but I don't think it's likely to solve your texture problem.
  15. All this talk of "metagames" reminded me of something I wanted to ask: has anyone played the StarCraft board game? If so, is it any good? I've been thinking about getting it, but being a Fantasy Flight game it's a bit on the steep side in terms of price.

Haha, I have a bad habit of collecting 2D fighters but never playing them because I'm terrible at fighters.
  17. Ehhh, I dunno if it's worth overclocking...it might give you a few extra frames per second, but it tends to *cause* graphical glitches as opposed to solving them, due to overheating.
  18. I like the concept, but "Aerodynamic" probably constitutes too much of the arrangement to be considered acceptable on the site. Some of the chords are off-key too, but I think the borrowing is the bigger issue.

Don't mind him, he's just bitter because he's bad at the game.
  20. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp Here's the link I got using ATI's driver search thing when I picked the Radeon X300. Like I said, I doubt it'll help much, but it's worth a try.
  21. Well the newest Catalyst is actually 8.9 now, but I'd imagine any issue with the Orange Box would have been fixed already in 8.6, so I dunno how much it would help to update.
