  1. I think you might be confusing memory with hard disk space. What I'm suggesting is to get an extra GB of RAM. If the GB you already have is in a single stick, you can run the two in dual channel mode. And I would suggest getting your computer parts from Newegg.com. Your average Best Buy or Staples will rip you a new one on video cards (Staples sells 8500GTs for $150...the same exact model is $50 on Newegg).
  2. Well it's either 2.8 or 3.8GHz, either of which are fine.
  3. Here's a few things I'd recommend, in order of cost. 1. Update your graphics drivers - This is a link to the integrated card you posted, assuming you're using XP Pro. If not, get the drivers for the OS you have. 2. Upgrade your memory - Two 1GB sticks can go for as little as $20 after rebate. 2. Buy a graphics card - I've mentioned this in like 5 threads already, but an HD 3650 will run you $35 after rebate.
  4. I would try the tape to make sure. It shouldn't damage your console, but it might damage the disc if you leave it like that too long.
  5. Actually, you haven't mentioned whether you updated your drivers or not. Catalyst is up to version 8.9 now, so check it out if you haven't updated in a while.
  6. Yeah, the 6320 is actually a Core 2 Duo and is more than enough to play Portal even though the clock speed looks low. I would look into both adding 1GB of RAM, and getting a cheap video card (see this thread for recommendations) to optimize your Portal experience.
  7. Also, "cheers"? Did start getting analoq to write your posts?
  8. Not really interested in the 5 or 10-year plans, but I'm *very* tempted to sign up right now just for their 11th anniversary unlimited storage and bandwidth offer. It'd be basically $10/month for what I could essentially use as unlimited off-site backup storage drive.
  9. Kinda depends on what the speed is, but a Pentium 4 should be okay. If all you're playing is Source games, the HD 3650 should be more than enough for your needs and costs $35 after rebate. Or if you're planning to expand from there in the future and have the cash, check this thread for more graphics card recommendations.
  10. AVG and Avast! are the free programs I've had recommended to me, and Nod32 and Kaspersky seem to be the choices for paid ones.
  11. $10 for any of these. $15 for any of these. I'm going off eBay prices, so if you can't let them go for so cheap, I'll just get them there.
  12. With regard to the "should I upgrade" question, I've found this chart to be fairly useful. It shows the 9600GT as being 10 tiers above the 7600GS. That said, this chart is actually part of a monthly feature TH does called "Best Video Cards for the Money." Their <$100 section suggests the 9600GSO, HD4670, and HD3650. The 9600GSO is a bit cheaper and is only one tier lower. It actually performs roughly equal with the GT at lower resolutions because it has more stream processors, from what I've read. The HD4670 is about the same price as this 9600GT, but what may interest you is that it has an onboard soundcard with 7.1 LPCM support via HDMI. So if you've got an extra-fancy surround setup you could get Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD signals without them getting downsampled by the S/PDIF passthrough. Not to mention it would save you a lot of cabling. The HD3650 borders on a joke recommendation, but you really can't beat the price at $35, and according to the hierarchy table it's actually 3 tiers above your current card. So if you're on a *really* tight budget you might consider it. (Plus it comes with WoW. Edit: Apparently it's also silent! )

Interesting. Although they make it sound like cartridges are some sort of indestructible medium, which anyone who's ever owned an NES knows is completely untrue.

According to whom? To my knowledge it is 100% illegal to dump a ROM image, regardless of method or intent.

Importing the game does not make having the ROM legal, just more socially acceptable. You realize that you just hinted at using other means of communication to exchange information about ROMs?
  16. I doubt he has a PCI-e slot if he's using such an old card. A Radeon HD 3650 should do you good if you have the money for it.
  17. It's going to be an entire remix album of Coldplay's "Clocks."
  18. Betting that a big reason for this is just to keeped people hyped on StarCraft before they release World of StarCraft.
  19. Hahaha, that looks amazingly fun. Edit: <3 my new graphics card. Anyone want my old 8500GT?
  20. I'd gladly reset my stats period (and even give up my medic achievements) if I could.
  21. Well, I have no idea which track you're talking about so I'll just keep posting Middle-Eastern mixes: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00650/ http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00477/ http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00434/
  22. Not Corneria, but Deep Damp Sandcastle always gives me that Middle-Eastern vibe.
  23. Haha, "No, I'm not a dentist." I like how all the bosses are gay for Mega Man. BTW, what happened to the winning entries of the Metal Man vocal remix contest? They just kinda float off into nothingness? Also I just tried the MM9 demo yesterday... I couldn't beat it. ;_;
