  1. If you're okay with non-remixes, here's some cool surround music: http://www.lynnemusic.com/surround.html
  2. I know of only one person who's ever done surround remixes, and he hasn't been posted on the site. You can check them out in his WIP thread here - http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15308 I personally haven't listened to them because I haven't gone through the trouble of burning them to CD so I can play it on my surround setup. So they might suck, I dunno. I wouldn't suggest using WinAmp, as apparently it won't play correctly and could potentitally damage your speakers.
  3. We already told you, Wes, just delete the porn from your Mac.
  4. Haha, it even has big giant circles on it.
  5. Not crazy about this one. The changes to the intro don't really work, in my opinion. The beginning is just really empty-sounding in general. When the bass comes in, it helps, but even then the octave strings bring it down. It doesn't help that they're off key most of the time. Having an original section is fine, but it lasts too long. You don't need to repeat it...you've already stated your idea, just move on. Maybe even layer the source on top of your original stuff somehow. I dunno, this has potential I suppose...like I mentioned, I do like your bass work, and the drums are pretty cool. But it needs a lot of work before it'll pass the panel, even judging from the first couple minutes.
  6. Ha, nice. Think it woulda worked better if you used more sprites instead of cartoon stuff.
  7. URFBOWND. Actually just the Mother series in general would be sweet.
  8. I was gonna suggest "Love Hurts" but then you said no remixes so I dunno. :/
  9. Oh yeah, that reminds me, I think you should explain the Companion Cube, or else just leave it out altogether. The James Portnow gag is funny the first 2 or 3 times, but after that you might try improvising a different silly picture, like perhaps a port + now rebus of some sort.
  10. True, you can play any ReMix on your show without asking as long as you credit the site and artist.
  11. I'm in favor of the MWF + weekends plan...don't really have any suggestions for the Europeans though. Also my Backloggery is awesome.
  12. Go ahead and play my track from No Balls, No Glory. More people need to hear this album.
  13. Yeah, default is to only show threads from the last 2 months, which have been busy for the judges in terms of real life. djp's mentioned the situation and what the staff is doing about it in the last few writeups.
  14. I think this is a great point, actually. You might argue that sex is ubiquitous in today's popular music, but I wouldn't call songs like "Sex in the Kitchen" works of art (well...maybe I would, but critics might disagree ). On the other hand, love songs are as old as music itself. I think music's ability to separate love from sex is actually part of what makes it mature as an art form. And the same might be argued for artwork...yeah there are plenty of naked people, but artists managed to completely separate the human form from any sexual connotations. When you see Leonardo's Vitruvian Man or David, you don't think "wow, props to Leo for dealing with intimacy in a mature way." Same goes for literature...haven't ever read a book where sex (rather than love) specifically adds to my respect for it.
  15. Yeah, I think that assumption was the weakest area of an otherwise provoking, if not entirely compelling, argument. It would be stronger in my opinion if you were to show how the "mature" portrayal of sex directly affected the acceptance of film as an art form. Providing examples like "The Graduate" is a good start, but correlation does not imply causation. That said, if you had mentioned this project beforehand, I would've recommended talking shortly about Japanese eroge dating sims and visual novels. These games often focus very strongly on the intimacy aspect, which ends up making the eventual sex scenes more meaningful and rewarding. Then again, eroge are not generally considered works of art, so perhaps that wouldn't be so helpful to your argument, heh.
  16. True, as long as both of you stick to single-player games, you can share an account.
  17. I didn't catch it, but the whole scene was a very obvious Encounters homage (perhaps even a direct crossover), and it doesn't surprise me that Spielberg couldn't resist throwing in the musical cue to complete the reference.
  18. Well bad CG is just bad CG. If you do it right, it's a lot cheaper and safer than the real thing. You really expect them to demolish real helicopters? And film real shrapnel flying at the camera?? Although I actually think some of the "bad" CG was intentional, to simulate the compositing artifacts in the older movies. I have to admit though, I was half-expecting the Dramatic Chipmunk to make a cameo.
  19. Yeah, it's their form of anti-piracy. Not really a big deal though, no spyware or anything in it, and you can even download free demos and stuff.
  20. To be honest, emulated music is a pretty gray area in itself (even MIDIs aren't 100% legal). To tell people to download emulated soundtracks while at the same time banning links to the exact same thing in MP3 sends mixed messages in my opinion.
  21. I have a couple other projects on my plate at the moment, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass. Besides, I'm just a lowly performer.
