Instead of doing 10 remix albums, why not do one with a track from every anniversary game? Could be cool.

I know, I know... there are literally already 20 remixes of Schala's theme on the site. I don't think anyone's ever done it quite like this though! (There's a hearty dose of 'The Last Day of the World' too, to pair it with something a bit less-often touched.) I am considering this remix finished, but I wanted to share here anyway because I'm really proud of this track!
So, last October I visited Theophany, my longtime friend and one of my favorite musicians of all time, for a weekend and we had a chance to speak at length about our music making processes. That visit gave me a huge burst of inspiration and almost immediately when I returned home from the trip, I began work on this track. It features plenty of my signature bells and pads and a heavy focus on atmosphere, as always, but I think you'll agree that this is far different from my usual style.
I wanted to create something dark, brooding, and extremely dramatic to really capture the larger-than-life spirit of the Chrono Trigger storyline. I took a lot of inspiration from film scores like Inception, post-rock bands like Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and of course, Theophany's own music.
I've worked very hard to push my personal envelope with this track, and I feel like the last 2 minutes of the song in particular are the best thing I have created to date as a musician. Hope you enjoy!
PS: Just for fun, here's a picture of my finished project file! This mix took about 30-35 hours of solid work to complete.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah! This is my favorite song from Legacy <3 Love the touch of both sadness and rawness. 

I recommend The Missingno Tracks and Heart of a Gamer albums. I can say without bias and hyperbole that they are totally super cool-awesome, and the crews that put them together are composed up sexy god-spawn. That's at least three times better than regular spawn.

And double post, as I hit 200+ reviews before leaving for New Year with my family! Yay! Good job everyone, let's do it again next year!

It's been a trip but OCR has been the primary driving force to improving my production skills. Been a fan of the site and community since 2005 and started actively remixing and assembling my studio in 2010.  Feels great to finally be over that bar.

man, i want to hop in here and say how much i appreciate the kind words coming from everyone in this thread.  thanks for giving me your ears, your time, and your thoughts; they're humbling gifts to receive.  and thanks to dave and all of the ocr staff for toiling over this site, to give video game music the platform it truly deserves, as well as the constructive criticism and undue praise you all have given to me over the years.

Holy shit! melody!!! I'm HUGE fan of all Peter's works and I was extremely glad to see his name of the front page. While this remix is on the rockier side of things, compared to other Peter's songs, it's still a great pleasure to listen to. And though this work is a bit of departure from other melody's stuff in terms of genre, it can be easily recognised as his work due to badass drum groove and wonderful jazzy licks here and there. What a lovely song!

I'd totally LOVE that!  I have a bunch of remix requests.  I desire more Secret of Evermore remixes.

Agreed it's too repetitive and could have used more dynamic contrast, but still a good listen and a classic theme.

Anyway, I like it, but I would say I'm not a huge fan of the guitar tone. On the extended mutes around 1:08 it doesn't sound "metallic" enough for how breakdowns like that usually go. It might need to be choked a bit more and maybe a bit more gain or something.

This mix is just badass - love it right from the intro. The beat is damn tight & the usage of scratches and monkey noises @0:42 is very creative. Love your straightforward yet unusual approach. Nice work!
