  1. Oh boy...forecast calls for a shitstorm on this one... Would that then make it a B? Is this is more of a Rolling Stone style"Greatest _______ " evaluation..where it's not so much the merits of composition, but rather cultural impact? Seems like this could be filed under top ten variant...
  2. Count me in. With out the Meddling Metal Maven evotalo, victory is all but assured MuWaHaHaHaHaHAHA!!!!! Seriously though evktalo this is a choice cuts. Fun Fact: Nobuo Uematsu did this one when yasunori mitsuda put himself in the hospital with an ulcer, due to working too much. Does anyone else hear the connection to Kuja's Theme?...just curious I feel the 2 tracks are very similar...
  3. Before I put in a vote, Necrox can you put a link to your source(s) ?
  4. I pointed this out in my write up, but that last word got cut off...and to post a link to a relevant topic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity Ok facts of the case: 1)This is a remix of the Stone Tower Temple and the Oath to Order. 2) I took right off with this mix before even meeting with Gario. 3) Gario’s Avatar is a mask from SMB 2. 4) If you remove one letter from Gario’s name, you get Garo. 5) If you put his name, minus the one letter, with his avatar you get Garo Mask. 6) The Garo Mask is the mask used to summon the Garo Ninjas in Ikana, the location of the Stone Tower, who then give you hints about the history of the Stone Tower. 7) The leader of the Garo resides in…The Stone Tower…coincidence? Absolutely.
  5. I've noticed a strong tendency for the same people to vote, over on TheSauce, and I know that everyone here is probably familiar with the Compos, but I would really like to take the time and invite everyone who reads this to head over to http://compo.thasauce.net and have a look at the Compos underway. Right now we've got a great Remixing With the Stars and I can tell, those who have submitted have put a lotta of effort in to their craft and it can be disheartening when only a few individuals vote. There's a strong probability this thread will get bounced to a different Forum, but it's 10-15 minutes of your time and I can tell you, truthfully, even if you're not the winner, it feels Damn good to stand a tip-toe with Remixers, posted or otherwise, and say I was confident enough to put this forward as a challenge for the opportunity to be named 1st or 2nd or even just to hear feedback, not in a workshop format, but rather in a "will it play in Peoria" format. Well as always Thank You for the time and I hope to see you all on the voter's feedback!
  6. Well I cannot submit an entry, but I was inspired to write a small bonus mix, but We need something, before we can offer something more... Remixers rise!!!
  7. "How bout those Dogers?" Ha! Seriously you youngster have no idea what it was like when you beat a game, back in my day, only to find soooo many endings (yes around 15? a lot being roughly the same with little change, was a lot back then!) We got the Leene and Frog ending ( deviant art, before Deviant Art) The Dream team ending ( I felt like I knew the whole development team after that!) Go watch the camp fire scene and tell me there is not a HUGE mythos hidden within the story line, seriously right now, go, go...(see Fioana's Side quest) I'll just say this...the one word I most associate with CT...Medina...I'll leave it at that
  8. Ok I said it in my submission, but if evktalo is jumping in early, I'm going in too! I kind of view the submissions as a sort of, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly standoff. Each mixer starring steely eyed waiting for the person next to them to make a move for their submit button...who's gonna shoot where, gotta make a plan, too early, too late.....(Whyiyaaaa-WaaahWAAAhWaaahhh)........ ..........(yeah, I know, just let me caper )
  9. Yep...Sanic...I'm soo ready to get FLstudio...Well here's me hobbling my way around Cubase Thing's I think I did Right: the lead Synth and the Sound effects Thing's I'm currently fighting with: the cymbals towards the end 1: 34 where it hits 3 times are weak, but I can't find a good sample, I layered 3 cymbals and I dislike each of them, I want that crashing final feeling of a good hit, can;t find a good sample. The background ,:51-ish and onwards, synth, feels weak, but when I adjusts the EQ it just makes it overpowering and too loud. Things I'm not sure with, Bass? I like the tube feeling, but somethings bugging me about it. It does cuts off abruptly, so I am aware of the need for an ending Trying to use Google Drive as a new way of linking music...did it work? Thank You for the listen and the help! WIP https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B80H6SsEW90wdXU3a2VVRVVZaDQ/view?usp=sharing Original
  10. Well...Yeah the Briggs poster certainly had a a lot of work put into it, but I've come to terms with the fact YOSHIBLADE no matter how big on a poster, is not going to attract much attention or even VGM ( I really don't think a sizable portion of passersby know what VGM stands for, sadly) ...However Megaman or the familiar screen of a Pokemon battle will grab people's attention, once I have their attention I can then explain who I am and what I'm doing, seeking out new individuals who may not be aware how large the Remixing community is. More so, If I can get the person to crack a smile, that is its own reward...but you were right I like the rainbow road a lot, thanks for the inspiration!
  11. Ups and Down! So I'll be quick on this one...They Amenesty Club pulled out of the concert and we lost a big sponsor ...however as a credit to our promoter, he bumped us up an hour earlier to save on staffing costs and dropped off the number of bands to save on time, and brought this one back on line . So here's my dilemma, Should I try and put my MP3 or wav files in Reason and use that to basically just press play and try my best to Hype everyone up, while the Reason File just play the audio files with the pre-done transitions or use DJ mixing software. If I use Reason, it could take a crap on me so I thought "why not get a back up" which would be the Mixing software, I would then have to be a little more involved, more chance I could screw it up, but Reason can be hinky at time and I'd like both just in case, one as a backup to the other. So can someone direct me in a cheap or free, easy to use mixing software, just to spin the songs. One more thing, as someone who's never done this before...and at the risk of exposing my self as a complete greenhorn...Do I just run my audio out with my 1/8 audio jack to RCA cord and then run that to the mixing board? Should I use my focusrite scarlett 2i2 's output RCA cables...wow now that I type it's starting to sink in how much there is that needs to go into this...so I guess if I could say one word HEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!! Any useful information, no matter how esoteric, is absolutely needed and appreciated. Thank You for the time and consideration!!!
  12. I don't know how to feel about this...I like the idea of taking a flawed game and remaking it into something fun to play ( everything about Clayfighter was fun...except the gameplay) . On the other hand I fear it will turn into Something-from-the-90's + Nostalgia = Quick cash grab, boring experience. I'd like to see Ickybod Clay again, and I hope they get the same announcer, He was the real star.
  13. Seriously! I was listening to your track and I'm like Damn..this is fresh and if this is was in a finished form, I wouldn't have stood a chance...DON"T LET THIS ONE GO!! Keep working on that, I want to hear it in it's finished form either way!!
  14. I apologize if it seemed like I was going to slap a Star's name on my mix for marque value, I was not. I wanted to start from a point where I feel strong, then ask for help as I move from my point of artistic strength. From my stand point, the Star is the ace in the hole. If I give a Star something really good to work with, then they can push the mix upwards, making it better. If ,right from the get go, I know where my strengths are, and where my weakness are, I would seek someone out who is strong where I am weak and keep that in mind when creating the track. If I have no idea how to get properly mixed drums I would want the Star that does so I'll make a track that is lacking in drums ask the Star to cover that angle, in addition to the normal supportive role...Maybe the track I made sounds really unappealing and suggestions could be made to revise certain parts? I was using Timaeus' suggestion of about 80 % of the mix should be the novice with the rest up to the star. Yes, it would probably make it a lot more conducive to teamwork starting at the ground floor, making a pool of names before anyone has a "secret ingredient" then starting the pairing. Maybe to spice it up do some sort of random pairing? "5 novices 5 stars, each team must learn to work together and overcome their differences to achieve victory!"
  15. Ouch...Could perhaps drum programing be substituted for the solo?
  16. Sadly he's registered as 1) not interested or available, but yes that would be quite funny...THE Propellerhead working with Reason. I believe Sir_NutS is also an avowed Reason user. I forget how I did it, but there was a way to search for users by which workstation they used. At this point I'm going to try and make a good track then worry who wants to work with me on it later, right now I'm just generating ideas and kind of flipping all the puzzle piece face up...Flexsytle seems like someone I would like to work with, but when your going from Reason to another DAW you lose the angle of sharp direct points " Use the Master Class compressor on the Kong drum output 4-5 and set it to XX value, might help with the snare" IDK I just need to get crackin' on making a GOOD track as opposed to who going to help me.
  17. Ok now I remember what set me on this...Start Wars Episode 1: Pod racers for the N64. I am almost certain pressing forward would give a small boost to your top speed ( granted the mechanics of a pod racer are unknown so why would pressing forward increase top speed?) but, yes the psychological aspect is probably what accounts for most of the feeling of an increase in speed and for sure no one is going to dig around in the source code to solve this mystery. now I want to run some tests...I might just do that.
  18. Ok Im in! On my Mac Ive got Chip64 in Reason and I'll keep it set on the C64 setting, honest! Ok so I'll just say it...Im very nervous about asking anyone for help for fear of the phrase "beyond hope" "lost cause" "wasting my time" and "utterly talentless" will run though the Star's mind...but right now I'm gonna get on it and whomever wants to be a mentor, I would never turn away! Edit! If there is a Star who uses Reason, that might work best to streamline any interaction...just a thought
  19. No, not the acceleration button, but rather if you didn't touch the control stick on, lets say Mario Kart, you would head in a forward direction irrespective, but rather when you are playing if you press forward on the joystick and you garner a small bit of top speed as opposed to not pressing forward on the joy stick at all. This might be closer to the truth, if one were to let back the controller stick you would lose some momentum, giving the illusion of a sort of boost by pressing forward. I'm sure every game has its own set of rules governing handling and speed, but just a thought...hmmm now that I think of it perhaps there is some psychological benefit, I'm not accounting for...like if pressing forward keeps the joystick in a locked position, there by allowing for more control over minute movements left and right..hmmm
  20. Does pushing forward on the controller make it go faster? From the NES to PS4, everytime I play a racing/driving game I find myself jamming the controller pad forward with the notion (delusion?) that it gives me that bump to eleven. Just kind of want to put this one to bed...
  21. No, the file I had had all the preset automations and I usually clean them up. I was aware of the cc value, figured out if the playhead is paused over the peak of the expression, it will retain that value, so I said" well the cc for expression doesn't seems to be the problem, cause it sound fine crossing over that area of peaks and valleys" but it was the problem I just didn't notice the minute change in expression, however if I paused it in the valley of the sawtooth CC data, then went to restart the project it was maintaing the lower value for the entire track or until it hit a CC value telling it to change, so it really was a play/pause problem more than a automation or CC problem. It's just two different languages, the quirks are not better or worse just different for each one, for instance Cubase will pick up and play all the instruments where ever the playhead starts from. Reason you need to play the whole song to get every instrument, so if a very long pad starts at 8th bar and goes to the 80th you need to start at the 8th bar or the pad will not be played, Cubase will play the pad where ever you start from. I'm not updating the patches, here is the link https://www.steinberg.net/nc/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/steinberg-product-compatibility-info-regarding-mac-os-x-1010-yosemite.html It makes me nervous, because I don't have Yosemite currently, but If I'm forced to update in the future I could loses instruments or data. So I'll retain the patches I current have and if I ever update there will not be a problem, as I will have none of patches that would conflict with Yosemite. TBH I'm keeping myself busy till FL studio comes to Mac, then I'm gong all in with that one.
  22. Whoa boy... 2) sounds like something from Timesplitters , but Ts isn't a ps1 game..... sounds like a Facility themed ( like from Goldeneye) area hmmm...not much help, for No.3 here's a composer that may set you in the right direction Tim Wright? Maybe the Wipeout series? Good luck!
  23. Common! Really? Nothing from RE2? okay well here I go... I feel like the RE series, up until recently (looking at you Revelations) avoiding a fight or running away was your best option
