  1. That Blade Runner theme is not really that similar to Jenova, but it does sound like a lot of bands I have heard, from prog death to prog rock and some other stuff. :P So..... even if it DID have similarity, there'd be no solid way to pinpoint where the influence actually came from. Coulda been Yes (the band). Or Kansas. Or who knows what the love. Certainly not on par with the clips in the OP!

There's only a bajillion bagillion prog bands that use similar key progressions

  2. Ok.. Tag for @djpretzel and @DarkeSword and perhaps 1 of them could check that out in the morning. They're the ones that can add/edit people to the subforum. This is why it's a good thing for people to post in there to make sure they can so that it can get fixed if they can't so they can post their WIPs. Not sure what causes the error, but I just got access yesterday and I also have a space in my username. ;) Not saying that's the cause, but there's evidence!

Big thanks to DJP and DS

  3. Super ultimate double-post time!

Just wanted to say, PROJECT REMIXERS -- go look for that secret project subforum. It's under "Projects" on the forum here.

If you can post there, please do. That way we'll know you have access. Also if you have a work in progress, please make a new thread in that private subforum and link your WIP there for people to give feedback on.

    Thanks!!

  4. Yes, I am very strongly hoping for Season 2!

It's BrandON! But it's cool to see both the E and A version of the name in one post :D

Glad you liked the song, and very nice words. I hope to deliver more quality this year. There will be more diverse remixes from this point on. The first chapter had a lot of similar feel with the music. Acoustic guitars, backing strings or heavier orchestration. There will be a bridge of a song or two leading into the next chapter where the style begins to shift.

I did an interview with OCR Podcast! It was fun. Here's a link:

Thank you for the continuing interest in this album!

  5. Is that what it means?

I guess here's the next logical question here.... are you going to step up as Director and put the thread back up, keep it updated and set wip dates and you're just looking for a co-director to engage with the remixers and recruit perhaps?

Or do you want someone to take on that role (as the director) and keep you on board as a co-director to do that secondary role of engaging with people?

Of course both roles can engage and recruit, but that's something to figure out later, and if both people are going to do it then some coordination will be involved to prevent stepping on toes. Honestly I don't recommend 2 different people doing that same role, it gets too confusing and would be a step backwards.

If you're still interested in me helping out let me know which role it is you'd like me to take on.

  6. Hah! It's rare that the release time of trailer/album gets posted like that. Usually cause things can change and you never know what can happen so they don't publish dates too often, but its refreshing to see it here, must mean the album/release package is pretty solid. Looking forward to :)

  7. Congrats on the book release. I would poop emoji the hell out of your book and post if it was possible to do that in real life.

Ain't nobody going to pay $18 for your paperback! I wouldn't even pay that much for a Dean Koontz or Stephen King or John Grisham or Whoever-wrote-50-shades-of-gray paperback. And I doubt your book is on the same level of eroticism as 50 shades of gray. Probably more like "a few shades of white", not to get too controversial, but to express the missionary position-esque excitement expressed by your book of scary tales.

I dunno, I'm just being silly, because you're always silly. But I'll never be able to match your silliness.

Post when the 99 cent Kindle Edition is released ;)

  8. Not all projects will be finished...  A small few could be abandoned. Honestly I'd like to see some fresh big projects started instead of stringing along old dead ones. But if there's potential to release some of the old ones that'd be good if the music aged well.

What I'd personally like to see -- more albums that start with a small tracklist (maybe 5 required songs) but allow people to claim other things based on their interest in other sources. This would keep albums from getting too large, and make sure if someone claims something it's because they put in the effort or were familiar with it to know what it was.

I'd like to see a Star Ocean album done this way (small, but covering all the games) A NieR album, RPG Themes album (main themes from RPGs)

Indie album (covering great songs from games like Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Transistor, etc)

I think this is a thing that should be done, and trying to save older projects isn't a justifiable reason to not do new stuff like this..  not to say we should outright abandon them all, but those involved should do their part to finish off the existing ones.. For example I still need to send Level99 a finished WAV for my Vroom track and I intend to do that.

  9. I've been so hyped about NieR: Automata coming out this year, that I wanted to make a thread for it, so I searched and found out that I already did. I am SO EXCITED for this game. It's my most anticipated game of 2016. All purely based on having played the first NIER. What an awesome art style, amazing music, very unique director and artists all working on such a labor of love. It is going to be such a great year for gaming topped off by NieR: Automata.

  10. Very tl;dr thread but I read enough to see Cubase recommended :) I third (or fourth, or however many) the recommendation for Cubase.

My laptop is a 2.5GHz with 8gb ram, 64-bit of course.. Windows 8.1 right now. Nothing fancy. No pops with Cubase and I use an ASIO driver that keeps my input/output latency waaaay way low.  Just basic ASIO 4 ALL v2 that you should have in FL Studio is what I use with Cubase. It also works well with Generic ASIO driver. 512ms sample buffer or less.

If FL Studio can't offer you the same then I'd say stomp on. I never thought FL Studio was particularly efficient. Does it even have  64bit version yet? Last time I used it, it was still 32-bit... producer 11 or something.. crazy.  You might get more mileage out of Reaper and you could try that for free.

Ok I read up a little. Damn, if I was looking for help with fruity loops and fl users responded like that, I'd jump ship too.

  11. Awkward....

That is not so easy to enforce or brush things to the side...sorry if you saw my previous response :) I don't mean to imply anything. Anyone who claimed something would be dedicated enough I suppose. Though my personal wish is that people want to work on this because they loved the game/music, and not so much just because it's an OCR album!

Second apology: The scope for Overture is very high. It's not quite open for claims unless that claim matches the very high (professional level) that is expected for it.. I'm going to mark it as reserved until said opportunity arises.

  12. It sounds too similar to be a coincidence, and if I was a composer lifting parts of a song from another country not expecting anyone ever to notice, I'd probably brush it off as saying "I never heard of that song before". But between the performance and the structural similarities I dunno. There's parts of the arrangement that make it sound really obvious that the composer had heard "When Worlds Collide"

  13. Excited to hear some WIPs. Hoping some of the remixers just send their finished songs to make it a little easier. ;)

Wahhh this is really exciting. Couldn't have dreamed of a better result for the FF8 album with all these people involved, way back in 2010 when I was first thinking of this idea I had no idea it could be such a big deal some day.

Interested in an art style for the artwork. Hoping for something very good. We've been lucky with the art for FF1/FF2, but I'd like to get something from a different artist with a different style, though with quality just as high. I also like the idea of composite art that mixes real-world photography with digitally painted or 3D modeled assets.
