  1. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-14-song-claimed-as-unimaginative-the/1100-6435111/

Someone got caught copying a song

I just wanted to make that joke in the thread title though, but it's interesting. The world of Final Fantasy collides with the once popular song from the 90s and the band everyone forgot about!

It is just really funny to me that they could actually get away with making such a similar song for FF14, claim "no I've never heard of the song before"... meanwhile in America, pretty much everyone has heard it. We've had it forced upon us, like broccoli.

What are your thoughts though? Unlikely coincidence, or straight up theft?

  2. I'm on board for being a third wheel, or an 8th arm, or what have you  Though the other people you listed are probably better "soloists". But I can play bass and Sixto sold his. /winning

I don't know what your plans are, but I wouldn't mind tackling a similar mix on my own. Orchestrated rock. If you're going for "fire", maybe something fitting.

  3. It's an interesting question, nobody is going to say "no", but it doesn't matter too much and here's why. TV is run by ratings, and even if there were a very highly rated show about VGM it would either be on cable so you'd have to pay extra, HBO or similar so you'd have to pay extra extra, or if it was just featured as background music in an existing show it'd be kinda dumb IMO. You'd be watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and Song of Storms would come on and you'd be like WTF? What did they do to my Childhood?

Radio, there's only so many frequencies, but oddly a lot of them are taken up by classic rock, a couple classical, and then "dance music" channels.. and a couple country. While I think VGM is good, diverse enough to justify its own channel, it brings about its own bunch of issues if a potential VGM station were to exist. For one thing it'd be based out of some specific city (in fact such a channel might already exist, we just don't know about it). Would you move to Kansas City to listen to VGM radio? And get Google Fiber? Everyone wants to, but you can't just up'n do.

Maybe I'm just being goofy and I should just go with the touchy feely answer of "I do! Yes, oh gosh 100 times yes!"

Soo basically Yes, and gosh-dang the consequences!

  4. I went through the entire AMA just now.. made some "witty" responses and some serious answers.

The answers about the panel were interesting. Excited to see the judge gains of 2016. And yeah, you guys know I've wanted to help for years. The offer's still there, and though I can't really assume or speak for anyone, I think in general people might be a lot less likely to drive me out of town on a stick than they used to be in the past. Although (and I mean no offense at all) the dire situation of the inbox right now makes it seem like I would be a lot less effective than I would have been say 3 years ago. There's so much more work to go through now, both what is there, and what is coming in.

It seems like you guys need a LOT of judges if you're really getting 1,000 submissions a year. That's not going to be something a few people could handle. I'm kinda expecting or maybe I should say hoping to see a team of like 50 judges maybe more.

Alright. Is it out of your system? That's the last time anyone gets to make that joke.

You better name that album "Mixtape" cause people already know it's Fire

Here's a fun story that I remember. Waaay back at, it had to be MAGFest 9. It was my first time meeting anyone. I talked to DS about the FFV albums and how I wasn't on the first one  and he was like well, we might be able to find a spot for you on "Earth" which should be out in a year or so (or however long it was planned to be at that point)... I remember thinking yess I am so lucky, I will be able to make a FF5 tribute, I loved FFV on the SNES. It's the only SNES FF I ever finished and really liked.

Soooooooo I dunno the point of the story. Maybe just to be like Oh yes, one day I will be on you, Earth! Maybe. Haha. Things change with time. I went through a loooot of phases between 2009 and now. Insane to think it's been almost 10 years (2019!)

  6. https://reamping-online.com/

Someone told me about this site cause I can't re-amp my guitars properly right now due to hardware issues... If you have a guitar recording 4 minutes or less, you can use one of the 2 free amps here to reamp your guitar track using a Kemper profiler. Make a free account.

Even if you end up paying ($1 per minute) to use one of the other amps, it's not that bad of a value.. you'd probably end up paying less than $10 per song to reamp all your guitars. But you could really just export your guitar WAV with little silence and reamp that. No need to include the silence, because it WILL reamp the silence. It'd be a waste of time. And if you upload a WAV over 4 minutes long, it won't work for the free amp.

I want to hear someone try this and post their finished song. I haven't used it on a finished song yet, but I test reamped a guitar track of mine. I figure I will have to use this a bit in the future though.

If someone is interest I do have a song I could use the reamp website on, I am probably going to do that, but it's currently an unreleased song.

  7. That sounds like it'd be crazy difficult to pull off, but it is pretty funny, hahah! Worked on a wrestler's intro music with Zoltan once, and I hear about friends working with wrestlers on twitter.. Wrestlers are using a lot more common music now it seems, so it's just kind of really cool sounding rock or rap beat that they walk in to. I may have to tell DCT about this project. Who do you think would direct it?

  8. I'm gonna step on all of the toes, and steal the glory of posting about the return of FF5 Water  It's coming back guys, for real! DarkeSword announced at MAGFest that the music was done!

Look at that, haha! Two years between this post and the one a couple posts up from me... :)

@Sagnewshreds it might! The release date for FFXV is being announced on March 30th at the Uncovered event, we'll see what happens!

  9. Just so I am aware, what was the cause that you were dropping this as a director? Was it that you didn't have time to direct it, or was it more that you needed assistance? Or people weren't working on stuff and you just weren't feeling it anymore? Any reason is fine, I'm just curious and it'll make it more clear what the situation is :)

  10. How much I want to pay is different than how much I'm willing to pay. Basic MSRP is $60 so that's what I'm willing to pay. What I want to pay is a lot less. But I want to pay a lot less for a lot of things. I get more enjoyment even out of a game people say has "no content" than I do out of a gallon of gas or a thing of cat litter.

  11. I honestly feel like I agree with Neblix on this one, if the game provides you with exactly what you want, then the quality and quantity is fine, but it takes me back to what I was saying about such things being subjective. Surely there's a consensus, but a lot of the time the consensus is wrong (example: The Order 1886)

  12. Alright, so you just want a co-director then? That can do. Slap that tracklist back up or maybe have them put it into one of my early posts in the thread so that I can edit it freely? Also this did have a subforum right or am I just going crazy? Is this an "official project" with OCR? Even if not no biggie, not being official never stopped anything :-o

The first thing you oughta do (as main director :P) is contact people who were attached and see if they're still attached!

Without wanting to add to the drama: it's not your call brandon, and what you've said is way beyond just voicing your opinion. djp had made his offer and it's up to the project management to do what they think is best; it is their album in the end, after all.

Let's not create drama so late in the game and please remain respectful to each other

:D Alright no drama. I feel like a stockholder though. I have 2 songs on this album that have sat around for almost half of the time I've been on OCR, which is crazy. Maybe I went too far voicing my opinion and I am not really anything like a stockholder. I had high hopes for the songs and how they would be treated. You're right though, it's their album.

I can only hope they'll take the suggestion to email in the assets to djp... I don't honestly know why there's so much defensiveness over a website template that had less effort put into it than my tantrum
