  1. Hopefully it's another old-style spin-off style game like 4 Heroes of Light. That game is quite excellent.
  2. Yeah those books are good; it's a brand new superhero universe created by Stan Lee. Very good. Also from Boom Studios is Irredeemable, which I cannot recommend enough.
  3. Congratulations to Txai, who won this year's Grand Maverick Remix Battle. Congratulations to all artists who participated. We got some killer music out of this competition. Remember folks, please grab the updated zip file from the first post for all of the remixes with updated album art and fixed tags if you haven't already. Stay tuned this spring for the next Grand Robot Master Remix Battle!
  4. Greed Corps is an excellent turn-based game. Great deal.
  5. Let's keep it about comic books here, not webcomics. If you're a periodical reader like me, comixology is the best place to go to keep track of what's coming out every week. I'm hitting my LCS today to grab some books. Here's today's pull-list. http://www.comixology.com/user/DarkeSword/pulllist/
  6. Contrary to popular belief, George Lucas is rarely involved in any Expanded Universe Star Wars product. He's responsible for the movies, consulted a bit on the story for the first Force Unleashed game, and has a hand in the Clone Wars cartoon. Aside from that, the storylines for the endless myriad of novels, comics, and video games are left up to the respective authors/writers, with oversight provided by Lucas Licensing, a division of LucasFilm. All you need to know about Star Wars: The Old Republic is that it's a Star Wars RPG made by BioWare. If you've played KotOR or Mass Effect, you know that BioWare knows how to make a space-RPG.
  7. Already a thread for this. Merged.
  8. happy birthday to the ballerest brother around caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake
  9. I've updated the ONE BIG ZIP WIT ALL DA REMIXES and fixed the Final Battle album art. If you plan on keeping and sharing GMRB remixes in the future, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE download the updated zip, as it features revised tags, updated file names, and fixed album art.
  10. Yeeeeaaaahh GameStop no thanks.
  11. Pretty decent. Vocal performance is a little rough intonation-wise, but it's not bad. Interpretation is pretty good; a pretty good rock take on the source tune. Good development through the piece, nice highs and lows. Pretty good. YES
  12. Yes, it's very similar to a modern 3D Zelda game, except it's a bit more combo-oriented in its battle system. It's quite fun, and certainly worth 10 bucks. I recommend playing with a controller.
  13. Both Mass Effect games are brilliant and worth playing. You can play the second one without playing the first one, but it's so much more fulfilling to play both. If you do plan on playing the first one, play it first before you play the second one, because they made so many interface improvements in Mass Effect 2 that it's hard to go back and play Mass Effect once you've gotten used to how everything works. Bottom line: ME is very good, ME2 is way way better. Both are worth playing. Play ME first.
  14. Yes, I am in agreement. A solidly arranged track with a nice, dreamy texture, but that mechanical piano needs some adjusting. It feels very bright for a seemingly dark piece; perhaps a more subdued sample would be better suited? It sounds a bit plinky as it is. Let's get some fixes and see it again! NO resub
  15. I like it. It's a beautiful, big synthy sound. Very relaxing, great texture. A bit short, but there's not a lot to the source, so that's fine. I don't mind the reverse lead that much; it's an interesting effect. Very cool. YES
  16. It certainly is a fun piece, but like the other judges have said, it's really more of a medley for medley's sake, rather than a cohesive piece. I'd prefer to see each section split off into its own standalone piece; as it stands now, there's no real reason to link these together. Not a fan of the trumpet sample for the Gerudo Valley section either. NO, but please consider breaking this out into multiple arrangements. I'd love to see the OoT Title theme arrangement as a stand-alone piece especially.
  17. Some cool ideas, but ultimately it runs through the source a few times with minor variation. I think you need to take a fresher approach, maybe some syncopation and rhythmic changes. Not bad, but needs more. NO resub
  18. Maybe it's a trapping of the genre, but this kind of just coasts for about 3 minutes. The energy-level throughout is exactly the same. I don't hear a lot of evolution in the track. The texture and ambiance is nice though, so good job on that. A solid take, but I think ultimately it doesn't do enough, and probably doesn't have enough to work with in the first place. NO
  19. Samples are just not cutting it; very mechanical sounding, particularly the strings. This is also mixed very quietly and the reverb makes it sound like it's being played very far away. Arrangement is pretty good but you really need to make this something someone can listen to without having to reach for the volume controls. NO resub
  20. Massively compressed to the point where things are just lost. Great playing, but the production on this piece is killing it. The snare sounds like I'm tapping my finger on a cardboard box. Needs a major technical overhaul. NO resub
  21. Aw yeah. So smoove. I love that big string sound. Despite being laid-back, it's got a serious 80s/90s sci-fi anime feel, like with some giant robots in space and a love story or something. You know what I'm saying. I like the quiet, gated synth in the background; it really adds a nice pulse to the track. Very full sound, good balance. YES
