  1. He's trying to replicate Metroid Prime, which is not a Super Nintendo game.
  2. Most of the humor comes from the absence of context. The conversation is actually pretty run-of-the-mill.
  3. No, that's too much. I'm not doing anything other than single-elimination.
  4. No, sixto signed up without posting. I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of everything. I'll wait until the end of the week. Newest sign ups will be out of luck, so make sure you guys spread the word. Rozo, we could do 24 people with a third bracket and have an elimination round right before the final. Scheduling would be a pain, but it's doable. So if we don't get 32, 24 could be good also. Spread the word, people.
  5. Because you're approaching it with the attitude of making only 3 songs out of 9 "passable." You're shooting for baselines. You put way too much stock in the "1/3 of the tracks need to be passable" thing. That is not a hard and fast rule; it slides based on the total number tracks. If you have an album with 42 tracks on it, having 14 "passable" tracks is fine, because it's fourteen, which is a lot. That said, your implications about genre are entirely off-base. We're not going to reject an EP because it's black metal, or because it has 3 different genres on it. That's not part the equation. You say that you'd have the rest of the songs as good black metal, but not like "that," which means you don't think OCR would post black metal, which isn't true.
  6. Why are you posting this here? Oh, I made a mistake. We had 15. But someone just posted picks, so now we do have 16.
  7. Way too repetitive and doesn't do much to interpret the source material. It's got a nice atmosphere, but ultimately just coasts for 3 and a half minutes. NO
  8. We are at 16 right now, so we can technically start. I'm going to wait a couple of days though. If you guys can spread the word and get 16 more people to participate, then we'll have 32, which will be awesome.
  9. Maybe you shouldn't bother posting if you're not familiar?
  10. Knock it off. EDIT: Actually, you know what? Ever since I undid your permaban, you've become increasingly condescending and negative here on the forums, and quite frankly I'm done with it. Goodbye.
  11. Yes sir, I do like this. It makes me feel like I'm down in Miami having a mohito with Michael Westen and Sam Axe, getting ready to take on some international spies or a druglord. Fantastic performance, excellent structure, really well produced. YES!
  12. I liked this mix when Brandon asked me for feedback on it when we were working on the Hurry!! album. It's got a great, organic feel; like the Earth is old. Great percussion elements, solid soundscape. Everything locks. YES
  13. Yes!!! I loved this song in the GRMRB. Very groovy, great source usage, extremely cohesive considering the two differing source tunes. I love the vocoded vocals. Very nice!
  14. Giving someone a "run for their money" doesn't mean winning against them. It means posing an actual challenge.
  15. Not really cutting it IMO. It's got a really dry, generic sound to it, and the synths are static and uninteresting. Very mechanical, very busy, and the buzziness of the saws and bass give the whole thing a kind of drone. Arrangement isn't bad, but this really feels like it's going through the motions. Needs more dynamics. NO
  16. Quite good. Lots of detailed percussion and processing. Great modern chippy sound. I love it. YES
  17. Taught you. Taught you. Not "teached."
  18. So long as you're writing using both your and your opponent's themes.
  19. Sorry, Doppler stage is not allowed. Please pick one of the main maverick themes. I'll update the first post with info.
