  1. Thanks! I actually joked Saturday night that I was done with all of my Magfest responsibilities and then djpretzel suggested I moderate the Pro Composer panel when I got there, so I said "I guess I'm on this panel now." Thanks for the comments about the How to Make Remixes panel. I will say what I said at the start of the panel: that panel is not really intended to be a step-by-step workshop or a lecture/class that you can walk away from knowing exactly how to make remixes. It's more of a discussion mixed with a demonstration to give you and idea of what the process is like and to answer questions people have about the process in general. This was Neblix's first year doing the mixing panel and he only had about 2 hours to prepare; it was a very last minute thing. Being able to produce something on the fly and also talk about it takes a lot more practice. It's something that zircon can do pretty well and he's done a little more demonstration-style stuff before, but even in past years we've generally followed the same format of General Discussion/Q&A alternating with seeing what the mixer is doing. Arranging on the fly in a short amount of time requires a lot of focus, so it's better to let the mixer step back from the panel and do their own thing while the rest of us talk.
  2. Ryan got it. Hit the thread! Happy Wedding!
  3. We already have a thread dedicated specifically to Magfest 13, so that discussion can go in this thread. Merged.
  4. What the heck! Don't go to Magfest and not say hi to anyone! Also Magfest has historically been Thursday through Sunday.
  5. I'm home from Magfest. I had a great time, as always, although I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Friday-through-Monday thing they did this year. Felt weird. Highlights: - All three OCR Panels, despite being in the Deep Dark of Panel 2. - Smashketball - The Nando's Ex-PERI-PERI-ence - Watching the second Kenshin live-action movie with OCR crew - OCR Staff dinner - Singing Happy Birthday to Deia in monotone with parallel fifths harmony at the Panel - SEEING PEOPLE I HAVENT SEEN IN A WHILE
  6. Athena Cykes is one of the main attorneys in AA5, and you can play as Mia Fey in AA3.
  7. Super excited about this, but I need to point out that the Projects forum is specifically for OCR-approved official projects. As far as I know, neither Dave, Larry, nor I have heard about this album project before. Moving this over to R&C for the time being. EDIT: NEVERMIND I AM A STUPID BUTT! BRING ON THE JAZZ!!! ITS THE BEGINNING OF A NEW AND EXCITINGLY DIFFERENT STORY!
  8. It's Risky Boots's. Boots is her name and a proper noun.
  9. What browser are you using? What version? What operating system are you on? Do you have any browser plugins/addons installed?
  10. In the tradition of the Apex album series, we've been recruited to put together an album for another great fighting game tournament series, CEO 2015! We're following the same procedure for this album as we have in Apex albums, so let's get started! Here is a tentative list of games at CEO 2015: Needed Killer Instinct (XBox One) Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Taken Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Character Select, Hakstok Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Ryu's Theme, Nutritious Super Smash Bros. Melee - Together We Ride, Neblix Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Zyko Divekick - Flexstyle Complete Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - DjjD Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - Richie Brown Mortal Kombat X - Richie Brown Original Track - O_Super x Mag.Lo Original Track - Ben Briggs I want one remix per game. High energy remixes are preferred: EDM, rock, or uptempo jazz. There is a hard deadline on music for the end of April because I need to be able to put together a physical package for CDs we can give out at the event. If you think you've got something I can use, hit me with a preliminary WIP via PM and also post that you're interested in here.
  11. You don't need to keep making threads promoting your sites, Will. Merged.
  12. Please don't use a thread as a feed for offsite content. If you want to post about Extra Remix, then post something substantive that actually discusses the new episode or the show at large, rather than just a link.
  13. Dunno if you bought the Mega Man album yet but that's on iTunes!
  14. Giving this a bump because I'm still interested in someone doing this. Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Or, you know, we could just pick the ones we want, which is pretty much what we did, and it all turned out fine.
  16. Railgun is way better than what I've seen of Index.
  17. There's not enough information in your first post. You haven't given a lot of details about the structure of your competition. You indicate you have a round 1, which implies some kind of multi-round structure? Are there sign-ups? Is there a running scoreboard? What kind of resources exist for people who are trying to remix in these styles? Wikipedia and a sample isn't really enough. Why isn't period appropriate instrumentation enforced when instrumentation is such a huge part of the writing process in these styles? Also I don't understand why you very specifically call out six source tunes from Final Fantasy but then also say "and originals." Is this a remix competition or a composition competition? You need to focus in on one or the other. Focus down. Choose one source that's simple. You're not going to get a lot of people attempting Dancing Mad in a baroque style. That's a massive piece of music to arrange in any style. What is even happening here? Is this a competition or is this a request? I realize there is a fine line between the two, but it's coming off as the latter rather than the former. You need to edit your first post with more of an explanation of the goals of this competition. "Raising awareness" isn't really enough. You also say that you're going to pick the winner. How is this going to work? Competitions can be run this way; there's no rule that says winners must be picked through voting, but you really need to be prepared to review and judge every submission and be prepared to articulate why and how each piece does or does not meet the criteria that you're selecting the winner by. Anything else would be irresponsible as a compo runner. I'm not saying you're incapable of doing this but even 3 entries is going to amount to a lot of work.
  18. Yeah I already got Flexstyle to run this. It's Super Cartography Bros. and it's already seeing a lot of progress.
  19. Your dedication to good metadata is a shining beacon in the bleak sea of "Various Artists."
