  1. That's probably a bad idea. For the sake of fairness in these competitions, everybody should find out what they're supposed to remix at the same time. If you have a public voting thread for the next track, people in the Darkness Bracket can just watch that thread and see what theme is most likely going to win and then start their remix early. If you want people to pick the Darkness Bracket track for round 3, have them PM you their suggestions. Or stick to your original plan and have someone who isn't you choose the theme, which is probably the best, considering you're in the Darkness Bracket and can potentially be tasked with mixing in the upcoming round.
  2. .hack isn't Shonen Jump. Also it was originally conceived as a video game series with LOTS of multimedia tie-in. It's not really a game based on anime.
  3. My advice, as a judge, in the ASK A JUDGE thread, is to learn basic music theory.
  4. You really need to stop doing this thing where you post about how you didn't read something or you're not interested. If you aren't interested in the subject at hand, don't post, because you're not contributing to any kind of discussion. If you'd read the article you'd realize that it's not an article about "the whole thing with females and video games," but a historical look at how market forces affected demographics and created stereotypes. We all know that girls and women have been playing for years. That's not the point of the article. I see you post one more "I didn't really read it" post and you'll get a temp ban.
  5. I've marked the tracks I've gotten as green in the first post. Still need the rest!
  6. Sounds awesome, game looks beautiful too. Dropped some cash on this. EDIT: oh man, getting major SaGa Frontier 2 vibes from this. So good!
  7. Have an artist friend working on this. Thanks everyone.
  8. I call dibs on this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BxH8yKcSy0&list=PL7D3F4A85EEC3BEDB&index=36
  9. Here's the deal. I'm trying to put together the materials we need to produce physical versions of the Eevee EP, our excellent single-disc Pokémon jam we released earlier this year. For this album we want to do a single-disc sleeved version, not the normal digipak we usually do (if you've ever seen physicals for Apex 2013, that's what I'm talking about). Here is NationWide Disc's Sleeve Template. As you can see, the end product is 5 x 5 inches. Album art is supposed to be at 300dpi. The problem I'm running into is that the source materials we have for the album art are not hi-res enough for us to do a physical release on the level of quality we prefer to do. Unfortunately, due to various circumstances, the original artist for the album cover doesn't have the source files we need. What I'm looking for is a talented, technically proficient artist to rework and/or possibly redraw the existing Eevee EP album art into a higher resolution that we can use to put together the physical product. We briefly discussed getting all new album art, but we'd like to stick with the look and design of the original album art because we feel that it's very iconic of the album, which is why I'm looking for a redraw. Here's the album art below, if you haven't seen it. I'll also be looking for some touch-ups (e.g. defining Umbreon a bit more). Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Just to clarify, this wouldn't be an "anime music" album, but a game music album for games based on anime (specifically Shounen Jump games).
  11. I've had a nerd-crush on Clara since The Snowmen.
  12. Got the epic hip-hop mega-collab from Jordanius, 3 parts clocking in at 24:27. It's excellent stuff. Now we just need all the music for the REST of the album! xD Looking forward to hearing what you guys are producing.
  13. What if we don't want to use a Blackberry because they are stupid and pointless? These are company-wide, Dwight.
  14. I realize that Tim and Kristina are friends and they're just engaging in some ribbing, but it's important to note that competitors shouldn't really be saying what boils down to "vote for me, here's why." I don't want to step on any toes here (Brandon, let me know if I'm out of line), but I want to point out that the Competitions Code of Conduct clearly states that "Your entry to a competition should be all you need to garner votes." It's not the job of any competitor to make sure people are voting what they feel to be the correct way. It's up to Brandon, as the competition runner, to stress what he feels are the most important criteria, which he has done in the first post. My 2c.
  15. Send an email with the pic to admin@ocremix.org.
  16. I think that sounds awesome. I actually floated an idea similar to this when that whole "technomanga" stuff was happening. From the thread: I think it'd be cool to do an album like you described, but I don't think it should be as broad as "games based on an anime or manga." The list you posted is massive. If you're gonna do one, zero in on specific series or specific genres. Something like "remixes of Shounen Jump games (DBZ, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, etc.)" or maybe "remixes of anime sports games (Prince of Tennis, Inazuma Eleven, etc)." I don't think that "based on anime" is enough of a unifying theme.
  17. How did I not know about this. This is amazo. Seriously though, this is one of my favorite sources.
  18. You're free to purchase MM25 (I pre-ordered one), but you (as an artist on the album) will be receiving a free copy of it at MAGFest.
  19. Dave posted this picture on Twitter last night. Physicals should be available at CDBaby very very soon. Make sure you order yours. I'm personally really excited about these physicals because I (with TONS of help from OCR staff and rnn, the album cover artist) stared at the Photoshop project files for HOURS preparing these things for production.
