I think I did that in zyko's reappointment thread, but I think I'll say it again here for references' sake. Gray was among one of the nicest people I came to know in the community, and it shows to his communication with others. I found him one of the more informative people when telling me something's been going on inside the "walls", so to speak. I found him one of the most comforting people that I managed to speak to whenever things go wrong. I found him to be a very fine example of communication while seeing drama at a minimum. And on top of that, as shown by his musical aids for multiple artists (dhsu, Bladiator and myself among others), he was also shown to be a great assist to remixers alike. I don't even know if I'll get to speak to him again down the line, but whatever happens, I hope he does well in his new career.

Man, someone needs to photoedit that gif and have Mario chasing Bowser instead.
-
Pocketman, it's one thing to keep genres the same as the original, but to be frank, Bowser's many boss themes have been taken through different genres. I'd say SMB1's boss was pretty "classical" (I'm imagining this on some organ), his boss theme in Yoshi's Island was metal, his music in NSMB sounded more "pop-like" to be frank (though that's probably limitations of the hardware), and his theme as used in Super Mario RPG seems to sound more like it's better set for pitched orchestration. I'd say the genre adaption for Bowser himself is pretty diverse. Though, whatif some character themes seem to be a little mild? Looking at the multiple Cortex sources though, most of these sound more like they would come straight out of a secret agent movie given the motifs and whatnot, thus counteracting the orchestral/rock/trance aspect of the project. I see this as the more interesting direction to work with, as with what there is in the source tune I could be able to take it into a more free direction. Again, no matter what, I say it's up to the user to create what kind of adaptation they want. It's not about what genre they pick; it's the way that they do it

No, you actually speak it well moreso than most other foreigners around here I'm not saying that "Crescendo to Catastrophe" is a rough title; I'm saying that there needs to be some more punch somewhere. (an odd choice of words, but it'll do.)
-
What I mean is, the title of "Crescendo to Catastrophe" can be quite a mouthful for some people, so I would say look around for some other words to fit the description.
-
I can see where you're coming from with the two "chaoses", though I would probably opt for a shorter word for the foreigners in mind. **pokes Nineko**

I don't want to rub off and sound like a jerk, but I actually like SFC's artwork. I know that it was given a more "realistically-situated" look, but that shouldn't be the reason on why people seem to keep hating on it. It's just art, people.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos - History

DJP said in the chat last night that 1500 will arrive before the end of the month. I'm sure we're getting closer with every passing hour -

Nah, I would figure that OCR1500 would be another djp song, probably his material for the Tales project. But only time would tell, that's for sure o_O -
For much of the time I approve, but if you're linking games that are already covered on the site, you forgot Sonics 2 and 3 for one thing Other than that, yeah. I know I've been out of the loop for a while, but I still am happy to see this nearing completion and whatnot.

That answers our question, Mike Thanks for the clarification Proph.

If anyone must sing it must be either Gary or Magus; both are as firey and upfront as each other! And I do secretly hope for Dr Wily on keyboards, but I don't think we can have them all
-
Well yes, it's true that we were working on that, though it was for the Dwelling of Duels. But now that our cover's been blown, then... ohok. I can't classify myself as a "vet" given I've had more rejections from the panel than passes, but I'll still be ok to keep Distant Promises going for project purposes. That's unless Geoff/Prophet thinks this is a bridge too far, but we'll see what happens o.O

Do you want to take that back?

OCR01499 - Tetris (GB) "Thirty-Plus Mix"
Rexy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Finally, a new mix Anyway, I ended up hearing this mix via IRC a few days ago (thanks zircon), and the way I see it is this is very interpretive trance, even more so covering a source tune that doesn't seem to get picked up as much as Korobeiniki (song A) and being able to take the first half of this source into a firm ride for trance fans to enjoy. I'm not exactly an electronica pundit, but I also feel the way he created these textures - the bass in particular - also feel really complexly set up and well polished. My saying still stands that it ended really quickly, but considering what's been established by the rest of the track, I believe this is way above the bar. Before you ask, no, this is not groove bias; I just simply feel this belongs here. Welcome to the clan R3FORG3D -
Like I said, I'm contemplating between that and Frozen Flame. But nonetheless, if you want to take it with a different collab partner, that'll be fine
-
I don't know whether to end up picking The Girl who Stole the Star or Frozen Flame (the latter which I ended up remixing before). Whichever happens, if there's anyone who is interested in working with me (in fact I have no idea what group I'm in in spite of having two OC Remixes), drop me a PM

Didn't Sir Nuts have a remix for Sonic 2 called "Run For Your Life Sonic!"? Actually, it covered the same theme he covered there (S3&K boss 2), hence the light variation in the title. I actually quite liked that, though I want to poop in k-wix's mouth thinking that it had wrong notes all over the place. (no offence, just needed to point that out) -
Great, now you've just made me think of a male silhouette with a giant red nose.
-
I actually seem interested in this, although I am currently without a decent work setup for six weeks. Dhsu, I see your problems with the whole collab thing. It could work out if you could find a renderer like GrayLightning did to some of your prior tracks, or as you said a dual instrument thing. I know it got hard concerning what happened with the Tales project, but trust me, something will come of it. Whichever happens, I'm game for this. I really love the Radical Dreamers music, being one of the most beautiful scores I ended up coming across in quite a while (and yes, I'm aware some tracks were used in Chrono Cross but original comes first ).

Again, I clearly labelled my track as Schumacher's Bar. Why are people forgetting the bloody apostrophe? Nonetheless, I approve of your designs. I never thought I'd see Metal Sonic get the inclusion in the inner covers though -
Milky Way Wishes: A Kirby Super Star Tribute - History
Rexy replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in Projects
It may seem tough, but I should be able to give it a go. I can see the basic idea in the poses and whatnot, but what's Kirby meant to be doing on the second page? Crying? -

Thanks again I've come to understand that the release is a little slow. (and yes, Arek's use of "Rareware" DOES make me think of that of Dinosaur Planet/Starfox Adventures O.o) Given that I've not much else to do before I go back to campus (other than a cold recovery) I would like to take up the Fighter image too. Whichever happens, I'm all on to see how far this will go [EDIT: Nevermind, I thought that was still up for grabs until I saw that Bean sent in an image on that O.o Oh well, nevermind. I could try one of the cover sketches instead but I need to know the standards on that before trying one of those.] -

Fixed. You better do the same in the front post, Snaps.
