  1. I feel the same way as you. People would most likely prefer the first one only because it is one of their favorite games ever and they like him for old-time's sake. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I was feeling bad because maybe they WERE seeing something else... Nostalgia fogs the mind... Just give TP about eight years and we'll see what happens. Only took me about three for SSBM.
  2. Oh wow. I've beaten the second temple and I've got myself all set to go into the third temple. Awesome game so far.
  3. My friend loaned me his Gamecube -> vga adapter, so I plugged it into my monitor and loaded up Twilight Princess. I properly enabled progressive scan mode in the dark, because video showed up. The "Don't play this if you get seizures" and the "Dolby Digital" messages came up crystal clear, making me very happy. However... As the title screen for Twilight Princess came up, I noticed about ten to thirteen 1 cm thick vertical scanlines. I didn't just notice them, they stood out. I'm on an LG 19" LCD monitor. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get rid of these stupid scanlines? EDIT: It isn't just ten to thirteen scanlines. And they aren't 1cm thick. They're just regular scanlines, and there's a bunch of them. But why are they standing out?
  4. I'm digging the Burning Crusade trailer. I know the expansion is just gonna be lots of new stuff with the same gameplay, but the trailer leads me to a conclusion: Blizzard's trailer team should really make a full-scale movie.
  5. Ok. I'm REALLY REALLY thinking about getting Gamecube component cables now. Is this a good idea? Will it improve textures at all, or just improve clarity?
  6. Though I do not plan on buying PS3 anytime soon, and plan to do what you do, this IS a ps3 thread. Not a Nintendo Wii and X-Box 360 Thread, or a "i'll name a system I like better than that of the title" thread. It's a PS3 thread.
  7. I highly agree that the characters should have actual voice acting, because the models are acted out so well. I love the cutscenes, and during gameplay sometimes it's hard for me to comprehend that this is on the gamecube. It's fucking FUN too. I haven't actually done the first temple yet, but I'm about to cuz I just talked to that spirit dude. I have no complaints, except for the fishing. It's amazing how much cooler HDR lighting makes game environments.
  8. Everything around gets dark, and there is much HDR lighting, at least in the village where I am. Not as bright as Oblivion's HDR, but it's pretty bright. And very pretty.
  9. Great Success. I <3 Fred Meyer. They don't put shipments on shelves until somebody asks about it. I got the first copy. Time to play.
  10. Not in the slightest. It's every bit as good as the Wii version. You also won't have to bother with wiggling your hand to make Link attack which is kind of a bonus. + camera control AS A FREE BONUS! No onscreen aiming though. Also, Zelda GC numbers are VERY limited. Be crafty. WHAT? LIMITED? CRAP! I doubt many people will get it at midnight...sike.
  11. So if I get the Gamecube version, I won't be disappointed at all right? Because I am buying in less than two days. I can't wait.
  12. There's a bunch of level 61-70 weapons in the PVP Hall in Stormwind that you can't buy.
  13. Wow this patch is impressive. Really cool to see all these new things. The pvp is especially awesome now, because there is an incentive for it, ensuring that people will be doing BG for a long long time. Felguards are cool. But I love being a warrior, because I feel godly in my new arms talents. I went pure arms spec.
  14. You know what I'm talking about. Beats to any modern movie soundtrack involving a terrorist, Metal Gear Solid, or Hans Zimmer's stuff in The Rock. Try 3:46 of Reuben Kee's first MGS mix. Exactly what instruments form the higher end of those beats? I know the lower end is just a bunch of bass drum hits, but are the top instruments snares, shakers, or what?
  15. Wow. I would respect the Gamespot reviews if they stuck to one argument, but their evident flip flopping just points to bullshitting pseudo intellectualism. Sorry, I just saw Thank You For Smoking, and I love the movie. But anyway, lern2 be consistent. Oh, and judge a game. Because it's a game review. It's not a series review.
  16. WOW. That coherently spells out exactly what's going on in my head while listening to the ReMix. Awesome picture, completely fitting with the mood.
  17. How easily can you do a spin-attack maneuver in Wind Waker? I dunno about you, but I could almost never do one without queuing. It was even harder in the Gamecube version of OoT. Aiming for enemies in Wind Waker was also a pain sometimes.. and trying to shoot on horseback in OoT/MM was also very difficult, especially when hunting for Poes. No offense, but saying that "according to some people the wiimote isn't that great sometimes" is kinda silly. And people's expectations of a motion sensing controller might vary.. just a little bit. I would try it before I swore off the Wii version, at any rate. I think it's the whole point that the spin maneuver isn't as easy to pull off. Otherwise it'd be cheap. That's why the designs of the older games were much tighter in that sense. It all corresponded to the movements of the sticks and buttons well. I don't think this is surprising though. Even with the Twilight Princess, I could definitely see Nintendo yet to fully master the new controller. Another criticism I saw coming a mile away was how apparently the game is pretty easy compared to the likes of Majora's Mask or OoT. It seems that all the new Zeldas have a much easier learning curve. I wish the games were as challenging as LttP once was. That's a good point. It's possible that they wanted to make certain moves easier to let people get used to the controls. I have heard battles are difficult, not necessarily because of the wiimote, but more because the enemies are just hard - unlike in the other 3D games(at least Wind Waker, my memory of the other two is dimmer). LttP was challenging? I mean, I was really young at the time I first played it, but it was no more challenging than any other game I played. Although, pretty much the only thing I clearly remember from it was discovering Chris Houlihan's room... LttP was really tedious, but not quite as challenging as Link's Awakening. HOLY SHIT to Link's Awakening I might say. I still haven't beaten Eagle's tower, prolly cuz I haven't played the game sincee I was young, but that game seemed to me to be the epitome of brain killer.

  19. Worst trolling post ever. Seriously, you can do better than that. Also, lol at 1080p! Trolling, no. Laughing at the people that say HD is everything, yes. I'm specifically talking about the people that have said that they can tell the difference and swear it's that much better. And what's so funny about 1080p? The name, or the concept? Or that people are willing to pay for it, and get nothing extra from it? It was mostly that your post seemed to be directed at the people in the thread, most of whom had not expressed this love for 1080p. It didn't really seem like a 2nd person POV kinda post. And in answer to your second question, the bolded part. You need to be more specific. I thought you were blatantly mocking people who like HD picture better than regular or DVD picture in the second post. If you can't appreciate the difference between any HD format and a regular broadcast signal or DVD, you are blind. I love my HD tv cuz it's so amazingly freaking clear, but I will heed the warning that says there is no true difference between 1080i or 720 p or whatever the heck they're called. I think I have a 720p HD TV, but it's pretty darn good.
  20. The landscapes in the video really do remind me of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, ie beautiful. But I'm sort of scared of something. Somebody please show me a screen shot of at least one place with blue skies.
  21. Same, but that grass plateau thing that looks like a lazy N64 model really stuck out in my head. Other than that it's cool.
  22. That brought a tear to my eye. I can't fucking wait. Though I am slightly disappointed by the opening video, everything inside the playable game world looks beautiful.
