  1. I won't be able to do my dibs till November, by the way. I'll have heaps of free time then, though.
  2. LuiZa? Loved her first mix. Hope to hear more FF from her in the future, or anything, for that matter. You're referring to Fire Cross? She has done other stuff, you know- Cessation of Mammon, Valley of the Fallen Meteor, Timeless Hero. Pity VGMix is down, but you can request them in a thread over there.
  3. Bound Together as a bunch of remixes is generally excellent. Bound Together as a project is flabby, sluggish and disjointed. I'm liking Summoning of Spirits in terms of its structure so far.
  4. I'd love to see this succeed, but I'm not exactly in the position to attract remixers. The soundtrack deserves it.
  5. Ice Climber? Awesome! It has an abrupt ending though, is it not finished yet? 3:08 long, right? Similarly great.
  6. Under the lyrics tab on the writeup page. Every second line is a translation; the latter verses quote the Bible.
  7. Now, this? Just awesome. Neskvartetten is at foremost a live band in every sense of the word- the energy that they feed off of each other just makes the song. I'd normally cringe at a Mario theme mix, but this one really is their own. Excellent work.
  8. ..Yeah, rewrote that line to add in Haggar, missed that. I'll grab Gen (58) and Rose (149) while I'm at it.
  9. Does not compute. No seriously, what are you going for here? Uh... something Squaresoft repeats? Putting a "Cid" in most Final Fantasies...? If you mean that that's not true (I know there was no Cid in FF1), then I could replace the wording... It's the mathematician in me objecting. 'Constant variables' is a contradictory statement that just stood out to me.
  10. Yep. This just came up on random, definitely one of the forgotten gems. Minimalist at its best.
  11. Does not compute. No seriously, what are you going for here?
  12. Guy CAPCOM 1989 Guy has mastered the art of ‘Bushin’ style ninjitsu and isn’t afraid to use it. Teaming up with his sparring partner Cody and Mayor Haggar in Final Fight, the two set out on a brawl across Metro City to save the former's girlfriend and latter's daughter respectively from Belger, the leader of the Mad Gear gang. Guy justifies the challenge as a way to put his skills to the test. In the original Final Fight, Guy is the speediest playable character. His quick attacks and movement can be used by the player to their advantage, covering up his weakness as least powerful of the three. An off-the-wall jump can catch thugs off guard, launching Guy towards them with a long range kick. His special attack, the Bushin Whirlwind Kick, is an airborne spinning kick that makes quick work of nearby enemies. Guy is also a fighter in the Street Fighter Alpha series (pictured above), on a quest to find the greater evil, M. Bison. His constant incentive is to become a stronger fighter, seeking out his master in order to become the next Bushinryu leader. His supers are different here; the Bushin Hassoken is a combo of different punches followed up with a kick, and the Goraikyaku, an aerial combo which takes the opponent upward then a kick back down to earth. 13. You can take Sakura if you want. You'd probably do a better job of it; never a big fighting game player. Actually, a lot of people irl call me Wat. I really don't mind.
  14. Lady CAPCOM 2005 Evident in the rather large weapon she carries, Lady is a no nonsense woman. Her purpose is a simple thought in her mind; to take revenge on the demons of the world using said weapon ‘Kalinna Ann’, including half-demon Dante. It is during her search in the tower Temen-Ni-Gru she meets him, viewing him as any other scum walking the earth. Dante doesn’t quite know her purpose in being there, and she isn’t interested in explaining to a stranger. After refusing to tell Dante her name, he christens her Lady. Being the complete opposite of the young, immature Dante, Lady is a fierce warrior who is willing to do anything to achieve her goals. Capable of impressive combat feats, acrobatics and firepower, her arsenal extends multiple firearms such as pistols, machine guns and grenades. The jet powered motorcycle at her disposal allows her to navigate the twisted tower, with its ability to scale walls easily. When first meeting Dante, Lady doesn’t believe in the story of legendary demon Sparda, despite his son standing right in front of her. It is through seeing Dante fight that she begins to empathize with there being a devil in this world that is able to shed tears for those he cares about and wants to put a stop to the demons and much as she does. And that’s enough for her. Quote: “Date a demon? I’m not that desperate. 18. For someone who has never watched South Park, that was still hilarious. Best villain ever.
  19. Dante CAPCOM 2001 Loosely based on Florentine poet Dante Alighieri, the protagonist of Capcom’s Devil May Cry series is not one for calm negotiations. Being descended from legendary demon Sparda, the mission entrusted to him is to finish his father’s work and destroy the ultimate evil, Mundus. In stopping the rise of hell once again Dante is on a mission of revenge against the death of his mother. With double handguns (‘Ebony’ and ‘Ivory') and inherited sword ‘Force Edge’ Dante takes on hell’s forces as a one man army. To have devil blood flowing through one’s veins is to be blessed with heightened power, endurance and special abilities, the greatest of which being the Devil Trigger. Once enough damage has been taken from enemies Dante can transform into a form hailing from his father’s side. Characterized by a red aura surrounding him, the Trigger heightens Dante’s power even more, his senses ever more effective; his equipment can also gain special uses. Of course, with such power and versatility comes a personality to match the body. Dante is known to have a large ego and a penchant for insults to his foes. Being aggressive and competitive is of his nature, not to mention a bit of a womanizer. Yet his connection with his mother is a strong one, propelling him to hunt the demons that killed her. After all, by killing every demon, it figures that he'll eventually end up killing the one that killed his mother. 20. While I never commented, I've loved this song ever since I downloaded it on release, left it in a folder, burnt it to CD with my latest songs, and found it through study listening. What's this? This is awesome. I think it's safe to say that Sam is my favourite remixer, and this piece is up there as his very best. Several listenings are in order, but once the song is engrained in your mind, putting Hunter's Community Chest on is bliss.
  21. Chun-Li CAPCOM 1991 When possessing the weakest arsenal of a fighting lineup, one must rely on reflexes and agility to gain the upper hand in a brawl. As the only female character in Street Fighter II, Chun-Li broke ground in the early nineties as one of the earliest feminine protagonists to gain widespread popularity. Like Samus before her Chun-Li demonstrated that women could be portrayed in videogames in other ways than the damsel in distress. Investigator for Interpol and representing China in the game, Li’s story is one of revenge against her late father. A tip towards suspect crime syndicate Shadoloo leads her to discover boss M. Bison. Beaten with ease by Bison, he utters a fate similar to her father’s if she crosses his path again. Vying to defeat the man, Chun-Li enters the Street Fighter Tournament to climb up the ladder and make a name for herself. Speed is of the essence as Chun-Li fights. Her most famous attack, the Lightning Kick, delivers a flurry of attacks from standing position at incredible speed. Quick, fast strings of moves are the secret to Chun-Li’s success as a fighter. Her clothing allows for fast movement on the stage, and has differed through the Street Fighter series- the above unitard Li’s outfit in Street Fighter Alpha. Her original appearance was in the one piece qipao. Chun-Li has since had many appearances within the series and other various spin offs, such as the vs. series with Marvel and SNK, and the Street Fighter movie, played by Ming-Na Wen. 23. Might I say that I hate David Lloyd for putting Blaze up as a mascot, leading me to have to write about the rather awful storylines of the modern Sonic series. Blaze the Cat SEGA 2005 Quite how these fourteen year old animals manage to travel at such high speeds is anyone’s guess. In any case, Blaze certainly needs such power to fulfill her duty as Guardian of the mysterious Sol Emeralds. For anything of an emerald nature in the Sonic universe is ultimately an object of importance and desire, giving Blaze a need to fend off unwanted visitors. Not long before Dr. Eggman makes off with them in Sonic Rush. Blaze does not hail from the same dimension as Sonic, and so can travel between worlds through tears in the space-time continuum. Such a means is vital for Blaze to reclaim the emeralds from Eggman, and find the secret to the gems’ true power. With being the sole guardian of an ancient material, Blaze is as such something of a loner. She lives by her own strict rules, and acts to situations in a calm and level headed manner. To meet Sonic and others is somewhat against what Blaze is used to, withdrawn from the friendship that the others share. Throughout the game, she learns the connection the companions have, and personally befriends Cream the Rabbit. Blaze seems to have become a regular character in the series, set to appear in the upcoming Sonic game for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
