  1. That had not even occurred to me. Perhaps I will. ... when I'm feeling less lazy than I am now.
  2. Another thing we could do is have a central location to plan meetups; rather than having threads scattered all over gendisc and unmod, we could have one particular page/forum section/whatever devoted to meetups.
  3. Like I suggested before, some sort of live performers database, or even a general collaborators database, would be great; the live performers thread is alright, but the first post is out of date and one really has to wade through the whole thread to see what's available. A more organized, updated database could be extremely useful. But that would probably take up only a small amount of space. I do think this community would benefit from having a central knowledge base-type place.
  4. Since several people have been asking for it, here's the acoustic part without the vocals (remastered). For the record, though, I think it's much better with Dave's vocals. EDIT: and yes, this is the exact same recording used in the OCR version. It is not, however, the same recording as the version that was on VGmix.
  5. That would be pretty nice to have a place where we don't have to worry about threads being deleted. Could we also use it to host some manner of live performers database?
  6. Thanks, but too late; already ordered the mackie. I'll keep carvin in mind for future stuff like this, though.
  7. Don't worry: [OMGSECRET]'s JENOVA mix is absolutely amazing. As for one winged angel... ohwait, that's a secret too. (As I've said before, I'm having way too much fun with this)
  8. My Behringer UB502 just died on me, and I need to replace it. I'd like to get something higher quality, and I'm happy to pay whatever I need to for top-quality (though I'd prefer not to spend thousands of dollars on features I won't use) Here's what I need: -2 or more XLR mic inputs with switchable phantom power -stereo line input; I just need one stereo set (though obviously more isn't a problem) As I said, I'm willing to pay whatever price for quality; I'd rather get a sturdy, high-quality mixer that I'll use for years than another behringer I'll just need to replace again. Any reccomendations?
  9. the guitar playing bumblebee. It has a bluesy feel that I absolutely love.
  10. wait a sec... did I hear "flight of the bumblebee" in there? EDIT: also, prizm, what exactly did you use for that lead? I love the tone.
  11. Hale-Bopp, you're an old fart? I had no idea. Anyway, make more mixes pls.
  12. For those of you starving for updates: I'm not gonna provide you with any, just torture you a bit more: If the WIPs I've heard are any indication, this is going to be fucking epic. EDIT: also, blake, you still need to get me those tracks.
  13. Wait, what? I definitely missed that one. As did I
  14. Finish this mix. TAUCER COMMANDS IT!
  15. That's because your track is fucking sweet.
  16. yeah, I know; I was responding to zircon's comment that you should submit it now.
  17. Make it longer first pls. seriously, I fucking love what you have so far, but it really leaves me wanting more. Please promise me you'll stick around here and not be one of those one-hit-wonders. This site could definitely do with some more stuff like this.
  18. Holy shit, this is nice! Wow, I can't get over how awesome this is. Production sounds absolutely professional, arrangement is smooth and sexy beyond description, guitars are great. My only complaint is the percussion; not wild about either the samples or the arrangement. Definitely needs more dynamics, and I'd back off a little on the treble. You can bet I'll be keeping a close watch on this WIP, as well as anything you post in the future. As far as whether it is close enough to frog's theme, I don't think it is anywhere near liberal enough to be a problem; it's recognizeable at first listen, and it's avery creative take on it. It's not too far from the original to be accepted; in fact, I think this is exactly the sort of thing that remixers should aim for. Again, just for emphasis, this mix is absolutely fucking amazing.
  19. Practice, practice, practice, and more practice. There is no other way, or at least none that is nearly as effective. One thing to do while you're practicing that I find helps a lot is improvisation. You'll suck at improvising at first, but keep at it; it's a good way to solidify your musical knowledge, and to see what works and what doesn't. Some knowledge of music theory is helpful, but not required; I personally am completely self-taught, and have never taken any manner of music-related classes (excluding the half-hour a week of music that most elementary schools seem to have).
  20. Yeah, direct recording. Well, direct to mixer (Behringer UB502) to soundcard (EMU 1212M).
  21. Amazing piece. Definitely one of the all-time greats.
  22. Well, uh, happy birthday lol, I forgot I'd already posted in this thread, and didn't bother checking.
  23. I started doing shitty midi remixes around 14. My first mp3 remix was around 16. My first GOOD remixes (Town Life on Acoustic Guitar, A Star Freezes Over, etc) were around age 17. I'm 19 now, btw.
  24. Who's this zircon? Sum n00b? Great mix as always, Andy.
