  1. This is a super fun remix; very catchy. Monumental review +1
  2. Jimmy, I'm pretty sure I told you about her about a year ago. Her next album will be released next month in the UK, United States, and Canada. I can't wait! There are too few female producers out there and she is incredibly unique, among many other wonderful things. I saw her in concert a few years ago in Vegas when she was promoting Speak for Yourself and was blown away. Wish I had stayed around long enough after the show to meet her.
  3. Thanks everyone! On Friday, my parents and I went out for Japanese food that featured teppanyaki style dining (where they prepare the food at your table). The next day, my mom, brother and I did a little shopping. It was a nice little getaway to the city. I'm not one for shameless plugs, but as another way of saying thanks you can listen to my new Paramore remix I started last week here.
  4. That instrument is called a güiro. If I recall correctly, the sample is from Smokers Relight Deux.
  5. The coordinators have a WIP for "Hot-Head Bop". It's actually pretty close to being done, but a bunch of parts still need to be recorded. Recording has been delayed for various reasons.
  6. Thank you so much for making a thread about this. I was all set to go with another hosting service, but this deal caught my eye just in time.
  7. Thanks, I'll be picking this up in a bit.
  8. Bah, I knew I should have gone. Instead, I was doing easy-ass tech work for part of the day. That's a great shirt, Aaron.
  9. I've been slacking lately: http://www.twitter.com/nicole_adams.
  10. The song is a duet between Diddy and Dixie. "Diddy" is a friend I met in college. He is a music major with quite a bit of stage experience so he can sure deliver. "Dixie" is injury.
  11. That is incredibly presumptuous. I don't give a damn what society wants. I prefer to produce vocal music because I find it to be more exciting than producing instrumental music. I'm totally cool with what you like (or don't like) in video game remixes. Just don't assume that the musicians here include original vocals because they're trying to conform to society. Oh, and just so you all know my "Hot-Head Bop" remix has vocals.
  12. Nope, my remix isn't in the preview.
  13. BlackPanther, I'd seriously consider buying these.
  14. I like them a lot. I would have preferred getting the Rokit 8 for a better bass response, but the Rokit 5 still gets the job done especially with the help of a spectrum analyzer.
  15. I started in late 2003 and didn't feel confident in my abilities until late 2007. Kind of a significant gap I guess, but I didn't work on music a whole lot in that time (not like today, anyway). It was a couple remix projects in 2007 that really got me going. Now I just need to finish more stuff...
  16. Okay, sure: My little setup: KRK RP-5 monitors Evolution MK-449C MIDI controller Custom-built computer featuring an Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 CPU running at 2.13 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, an E-MU 0404 sound card, an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video card, a 500 GB hard drive and a ViewSonic 22" VG2230wm monitor (it definitely gets the job done...for now) Yeah, I know my monitors aren't in a great location. I'm still living at my parent's house so I'm limited on space. Once I move out next year I'm going to buy a mixer so I can set up my JP-8000, along with other stuff. I would like to purchase some studio headphones, but health issues have led to me holding off. :\
  17. I need to echo what zircon said on the previous page. I use two credit cards. One is an American Express rewards card and the other is a simple Visa. I use the Amex for everything unless a store doesn't take Amex or if I'm only spending a few bucks. I build up a lot rewards points this way, which makes up for the card's annual fee. I pay off my cards each month and therefore have no debt. Being a pessimist, I doubt the majority of Americans will learn from the recession. Once things bounce back, people will start justifying why they "need" this and that.
  18. R3volve's remix is by far my favorite. You can listen to it here. I may do something with the vocals someday. I have way too many projects going right now.
  19. I've been meaning to comment on this album, but kept forgetting. So sorry! I absolutely love it. For the past six months or so I've really been into this hard-hitting style of music. Thank you for providing such great jams for free. I shall have to tip you.
  20. *lol* What? No, it's, "Covering my mouth". If you go to the ReMix page there is a "lyrics" tab at the top.
  21. 'Twas fun; I'll definitely be back.
  22. When I do my A/B comparisons, I use Voxengo's SPAN spectrum analyzer. When mixing, in addition to rolling off the low end on samples and synths, I also notch out 400 Hz on most channels. It's something I learned from BT that adds a lot of clarity to your productions.
  23. Thanks for mentioning this: ...and this: I'm totally cool with this. PM me if any of you want the vocal files.
  24. If you're talking about all the stutter edits and the high-pass filtering, yeah, I was sad to see those go. Once I mixed the vocals they just didn't fit. I added some vocal stutters in a later demo, but didn't use them since I thought they were a bit distracting. They did sound pretty cool, though. Thanks for all the comments everyone!
