Take a Salvador Dali painting and tack it on to your video game console. There, problem fixed. Seriously, art is for coffee shop nerds and Mac users.

Save it for the coffee shop down the street.

You can never lose with some good reggae music, or something with nautical themes.

That Metroid art is really, really good.

Cool, but I've already 'Nintendized' my phone pretty well.

I gave the new Sonic The Hedgehog a try, and damn - it really really sucks the big one. I'll be giving The Secret Rings a try, though. I still want to punch myself in the face for buying Sonic Heroes.

Street Fighter IV - is this the year?
Devyn replied to BabyfaceGlasses's topic in General Discussion
Well, I can say this much. Capcom (with the aid of Clover) worked wonders with Viewtiful Joe, which took everything good about 2d platformers and made it even better with the use of more powerful technology. I don't see why Capcom couldn't do the same with the Street Fighter series. I would also like to see some re-innovation or closure to the classic Megaman series, and maybe wrap up the X series as well. Hot damn. If Clover worked with the best people involved in the Megaman series, the results would likely be incredible. But isn't Clover getting axed? Anyway, I'm very doubtful, because Capcom don't seem to be allocating big budgets for their trademark series. They've been beating the dead horse for a long time, and many gamers these days are focused on games based off of popular movies and characters - at least in America. And most attempts at new franchises bite the dust, including Viewtiful Joe and Godhand. Hell, does anyone really care about Okami? It got rave reviews from almost everyone, but it isn't tearing up the charts. -
I always liked to think that the first two Zeldas took place in like, ancient-ancient hyrule. I guess it's all open to your personal interpretation. Maybe Nintendo will go through the hell of piecing it all together, but they should of really thought ahead. I guess having a solid storyline would sacrifice new possibilities for the game play, so maybe that's Nintendo's reason - or maybe they just don't give a shit.

The Super Nintendo Pitfall was hard as hell. I mean 'Ninja Gaiden Black -on - extreme - difficulty' hard. But that was a decent game - okay, I'm going to get back on topic. I don't think Legacy of the Wizard is a high quality game, and many say it's total shit, but it has a charm that I can't resist. I still play it every month or two. To whoever mentioned Rampage - I agree with you. It's basically crap, much like Donkey Kong, Donkey Jr. and Mickey Mousecapades, Golden Axe (the Genesis port, not the arcade) and I still enjoy all of those games.

I miss the old Ghostbusters cartoons. Some of those were actually pretty damn scary. Oh well, I guess we could play Luigi's Mansion. Hell, just change Luigi's sprite and you would have a spot-on Ghostbusters game.

I think it's just a case of my mediocre reading comprehension, but did you just refer to the original Legend of Zelda as "okay?" You kids these days scare the shit out of me.

WIP: Legacy of the Wizard - "Dragon Battle"
Devyn replied to electric concerto's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Nah, I know the song (as I have slayed that bitch dragon quite a few times) and I'm glad to see that you're still working on this project. Also, I've burned all your WIP's on CD and my girlfriend likes them too. They sound good on the stereo with the bass turned up. Since you're apparently still working on this project, do you want me to wear the project logo in my sig or something? By the way, update your project site, and think about what you can do to gather more interest. The are more fans of this soundtrack than you might think. You have to look in the right places. Anything I can do to help. Legacy of the Wizard is one of my favorite soundtracks, and you're doing an excellent job by giving attention to it, rather than Zelda or Final Fantasy 10,000 times. By the way, I LIKE THIS ONE TOO. RAWK. -
This fuckin' rocks.

Not bad. Yeah, not bad. -
WIP: Gerudo Valley (Monkey Island Remix)
Devyn replied to Ockeroid's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Add some reggae-style vocals, get a real guitar for the reggae chords, change the soundfont for the lead (maybe use an organ-style font?). Anyway, that's what I would do for starters. -
I'm going to have to wait a little while for my verdict; However, I commend you for simply choosing this tune.

Neither. There are other MP3 players in the world, which are available for cheaper prices. But if you're limiting yourselves to those two, go for the ipod. Don't make me count the reasons.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that it is so. Do it Nintendo. Go for the gold.

They simply don't matter as much as they used to - well, at least in terms of the present overhead with the cost of processing power for graphical improvement. I think it really depends if you're a graphic whore or not. Hell, but that issue is still a little more complex. Good art design really fixes things up when the power is low. I'm still blown away by the graphics on Sonic the Hedgehog, Donkey Kong Country, many of the Megaman games - but even moreso with the moods they create. Those games had excellent music that matched the beautiful graphics. There was an atmosphere there. I think atmosphere matters more than anything. I was playing Megaman 7 two days ago and I was in cloud man's stage. It blew me away. You start out in a future fortress in the sky, and you feel excited before you can even control Megaman. When you get near the end of the stage, you're higher up in the sky and the clouds are moving quickly through the sunset with epic music in the background. It grabs you, and then you have that excellent gameplay to hold down the bottom line like a drummer holds down the beat for a band. And look at Donkey Kong Country's water stages, relaxing music, swimming at the bottom of a beautiful coral reef, dodging sharks and fish. It really still takes me to that world, after many years and improvements in technology. And yes, some newer games accomplish the same. So yes, graphics do matter, but it's different for every person. For me, it's how the game takes me into its world and motivates me. No game can make me feel more epic than a scenario like standing at the top of a building in a twilight future city while preparing to take out an evil doctor and an army of evil robots. So, the whole vision matters. Gameplay, graphics, music, everything, the frikkin' STORY - it's how they're combined, like different ingredients to make the right food. If you combine them right, you get one badass meal that makes you come back for more. Examples of these include games like Contra 3, Resident Evil 4, the better of the Megaman games, the Super Mario Brothers series, Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Castlevania 4, Mortal Kombat 2, Super Metroid - they had it all, and you could tell there was passion from every angle, not just for the graphics.

Yes, I have both of those games, and I must agree that they both kick large amounts of ass. Sparkster on SNES is my favorite of the two, but they were both great games (I think the Genesis version of sparkster is a little differrent, but I don't know). The music is really good, and the gameplay is cool and the possum has a lot of different ways attacks and ways to travel - walking, jet pack, climbing on rails with his tail, robots, etc. The games just have so much variety, even more so with Sparkster. Yeah, Konami can really dish out good games when they get creative. The only thing I don't like about those games is how he can't be controlled when falling after a jetpack boost. But didn't they fix that on the Genesis version of Sparkster? I don't know because I don't have it.

No, let's try making a guess-a-game thread instead. Okay, here goes. Typical 8-bit side-scrolling game with a farting transvestite, little shy-guy clones, and the main character only has one attack - which makes enemies fly off of the screen. Alright, good luck.
-
I both laughed and died inside.

I'm pretty sure this has been done before, but it's the first thing that came to my mind.

I have a meeting to attend in a few minutes, but I can't wait to try this out. Your last game was great, although I can't remember what it's called.

I hate to say this, as I'm not a fan of MTV or most 'videos' in general, but Love Like Winter is one hell of a video. It almost restored my faith in the band after I was disappointed by Decemberunderground. The main band of this discussion, I'm not a big fan of them. Nothing personal, I just don't get into it.
