  1. The way you re-harmonize the witches theme to fit with the Man with the Machine Gun makes this mix pretty incredible. What a great idea. I like the different styles interspersed throughout, as well, with the chiptune elements scattered around. Very well done.
  2. This is rad as hell. Really good mixing and mastering. Really heavy but definitely (for as sparse as the music is in Half-Life 2), a good interpretation of the original. Definitely a fan!
  3. Hey y'all! Long time no see. Given the somewhat irregular output I've had recently I wanted to make sure this was kind of a big thing before I posted in GenDisc (If this doesn't count, I throw myself to the mercy of the mods). I've been pretty busy going back to school and getting ready to have a kid here pretty soon, but I wanted to finish a song and make a video before the baby comes. Believe it or not, my (seven month pregnant) wife actually helped out a lot on the video side of things and made the video shoots of the pumpkins possible. Anyway, I wanted to post this here because, to be honest, my mindset while making this song was very similar to how we do ReMixes here; take the original and do an original arrangement of it. I love the Halloween theme and Carpenter's style, both filmically and musically, so without further adieu: And the song, with free download:
  4. I would like to chime in and say I'm surprised at the reaction to this. Many of the people who have expressed concern over the monetization on YouTube have been given a lot of opportunity through OCRemix to receive funding themselves. I want to say I think it may be a "slippery slope" as the possibility that the thousands of videos getting even a modest number of views/subscribers could lead to a large payout which makes it a little weird to have all of that go to one source. However, considering the entirely free nature of music downloads/exposure/community and the not at all free nature of running a site with hosted files, I'm ok with it; I don't see a difference between this and ads on the website. They're both pretty equally obtrusive. I also just wanted to say while I'm here (as I don't get much of a chance any more) I sincerely appreciate all you guys have done with creating this wonderful site. I have been thinking lately that I wouldn't be where I am now, music-career aside, if it weren't for OCR. The community, the formative musical years perusing the site for new and completely different music, the nostalgia of finding the perfect arrangement of a favorite song... Believe it or not, that isn't even a brown-nosing attempt at receiving any YouTube money! (unless it worked).
  5. Love it! I really like the progression from pretty mellow to wailing guitars by the end. The overall arrangement repeats throughout while ramping it up which I can appreciate. The only real issue I heard was the hard guitar plucks in the beginning needed some more compression on them because they were a bit jarring; sounded like your were trying to rip the strings out of the guitar, but that was like two notes, so by no means was that a big issue Great work!
  6. I really like the music. Did you do that? Everything else is great too; nice and crisp.
  7. Bump! So I want to get back to this if anyone is interested. I'm happy to work back and forth with you guys. I want to learn more about mixing/mastering on top of just my original stuff, so please let me know if you'd like to do this. I now have about 11 years of experience doing this kind of thing and am finally pretty happy with my mixes and masters; I'd just like to get more time with it. Thanks!
  8. I'd love to join a fireteam here. I'm on PS4. My PSN name is HyBound. Please add. If I'm on I'd be happy to help with anything you would need to work towards and I'd appreciate some help with my exotic bounty.
  9. This is great! I really like the vid as well. Good song-writing and its always cool to see someone playing this stuff themselves! Sounds a lot like something that would play in the dungeon of a Chrono Trigger or something Hope to see more from you!
  10. Hey guys, haven't been around much lately, but I've gotten back into a lot of vidjagame music. Anyway, I've been enjoying the tuckus out of the Shovel Knight soundtrack and decided to give some chiptune stuff a shot. I'm using Reaktor-based square's and stuff, not actual chiptune software (speaking of which, where do you get something like was used by virt?) Anywho, listen and comment if you can https://soundcloud.com/hybound/sir-pixelot
  11. Woo! Finally got it in. I was having all sorts of trouble with my DAW and samples, so its not horribly refined, but hopefully enjoyable.
  12. This is pretty great. Gusty Garden is one of my favorite vg songs of the last couple years and you definitely did it justice.
  13. Hey everyone, its been a while, but I entered the Halo 4 Remix competition a bit ago (even though it just popped up on soundcloud). I spent a good long time on this one and ended up getting quite the time crunch in to finish it up. It's a little more of a ReMix than a Remix as I remade a vast majority of the original content so I could use it the way i wanted to. I also added some Promethean sounds for good measure Anyway, the way they judge isn't particularly clear, but if you could listen, like, comment and share this around I would be much obliged. Thanks! http://soundcloud.com/hybound/awakening-hy-bound-mix-final
  14. http://soundcloud.com/hybound i only have 40 followers Check it out! Woo!
  15. This is totally great. I love the french-house style and the super sampled/processed sound is done very well. Really crunchy, gritty and authentic!
  16. You guys should do this for teaching science stuff too! That's the first time I've learned about physics without falling asleep halfway through!
  17. This is seriously great! Brandon posted this on facebook and I took a listen. I usually tend to think metal covers of songs are kinda cheesy or lame (that'll make me some friends here... ) but I actually really love this. Really well-done!
  18. Hey guys, thought you all might enjoy my remix of PrototypeRaptor's Ghosts in the Machine. Very Halloween-y so if any of you are looking for a track for dj sets or something this should work out pretty well. Electro House goodness for free download. http://soundcloud.com/hybound/prototype-raptor-ghosts-in-the
  19. Considering all of the id IP's i've played have been kinda shitty tech demos *Cough* Doom 3 *Cough* i haven't been following this one as closely as i think i should. On the other hand it looks great and everything i've seen so far is great and just what i like about Post-Apocalyptic games so once reviews start trickling in i'll see whats up.
  20. But see, TF2 is still kinda fun even when you're being blown out... I don't know why it is so much less frustrating, but it drives me nuts in BF games.
  21. I played the 360 version and I've gotta say its pretty good. I've never been part of the Battlefield camp, as I hate running for 5 minutes and getting capped only to then run for 5 minutes and get capped... But the squads that they appropriated from bad company seem to help this issue a bit. I've played the beta for about 4 hours so far, so i feel i have a good handle on what to expect. I have two issues though... First off, graphically (considering this is their major push) its kind of a slouch on the 360... Some of the effects are nice and the sound design is incredible, but its really not much better looking than BC2... I'm pretty disappointed. I don't have a theoretical future computer and I hate kb and mouse controls (i know, gasp!) so 360 is kinda what I got to work with and it really doesn't look or play any better than anything else. Secondly, this is the problem that they always seemed to have with battlefield games, but if you're stuck on a bad team you might as well quit... And I HATE quitting games early. There is absolutely nothing to do about losing over and over against a team that just absolutely decimates you. Many games find some way to make playing on the losing side still somewhat fun but bf's insistence on control-point and objective games make it no fun at all. As soon as one side gets steam-rolled in a round, half the team quits and the server becomes a wasteland because of this problem. I've run into it already in the beta quite a bit. I have no idea how they could fix it, but it really is becoming a problem.
  22. The entire second disc maekz mah peenuz hard. My goodness, just thinking about this game makes me extraordinarily happy...
  23. I used the Junatik synth from Reaktor. Glad you like it. And thanks Modus, it was really by the book
  24. Hey guys, havent posted in this forum in a while but thought you guys would actually appreciate this more than others would. Anyway, I made a quick score of a future-industrial-type game or movie. Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/hybound/the-humanity-constant
