  1. I was just about to edit my post after a Google search, but Wilhelm it is, and here it is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_scream Thanks nonetheless, Abadoss.
  2. If I recall, isn't there another "used in many films" scream that crops up in the Indiana Jones trilogy (back when it was a trilogy)? It's usually used for enemy soldiers as they fall as well.
  3. Read the content policy, and come up with a catchy/goofy name or acronym of your own. When you're ready, make a new thread announcing the new podcast, and then you'll be good to go. No "ownership" drama, no "permission" needs, no "OCR representation quality" arguments (which I'm sure will come up with the VGDJ name), no nothing. Just you, some mixes, and a little chit-chat scattered in-between for however long you feel like doing it. That's my advice.
  4. Oh, I know the goofy commentary that gets unleashed by some folks. But, the inability of those folks to keep to themselves over the mere mentioning of a game character shouldn't be a deciding sig factor here. Sure, some will do it just to be a smart ass since bashing the game's reached meme-like levels, but a part of me would like to think that the majority of folks here have gotten past the "OMFGROFL U LIEK Ff7!" foolishness by now.
  5. Why should he/she? It's not breaking any rules. If an anti-FF7 fanboy gives him/her shit, he/she can ignore them... quite literally now with vBulletin. Would you remove your Kirby sig if some folks gave you shit for having it? ... Didn't think so
  6. I think you need something for the Quick Links on the left... especially the last two links. "Music" and "Biography/Misc" almost vanish into the background art, so perhaps a borderless table with a semi-transparent background for each row could be used to help them stand out more, without blotting out the BG art.
  7. No problem. At nearly a year since its last post, I'm not surprised you didn't know about it But never fear a little necro-bumping if it's actually adding something. No one will bite your head off... I think...
  8. Yeah, I brought up that unreleased zip last year here. We named a good amount of them, but not all of them.
  9. I enjoyed that mod. But I think if id had done that, they would have gotten even more criticism about a lack of creativity in their maps, than they did for their flashlight
  10. Patootie? Them's fightin' words varmint! - No squad tactics - No puzzles - No vehicles - No sneaking - No "can only carry a few weapons" restrictions - No stationary battles as waves of enemies come at you - No alternate firing modes for the weapons In other words, a lot of the things that have been added to the FPS genre over the years were tossed by the wayside to keep Doom 3's gameplay close to the original games. Yes there were changes (fewer monsters, much darker atmosphere and lighting, crouch/jump, etc.), but the overall gameplay was still very much straight out of 1993 and 1994 (which many bitched about if you recall).
  11. You're not. I enjoyed Doom 3 a lot more than HL2. The darkness, the flashlight, the atmosphere, the gameplay that stayed close to the original pair of games (trio if you count 'Final')... I enjoyed every minute of it, and I still have it installed on my PC. So many people bitched about how dark the game was, to which I say, "Well duh." You're in buildings, the lights aren't working well (if at all), there are few windows, so it's gonna be pretty damn dark And this comes from someone who loves the first three DOS games. My questions are this... - Is this going to be a retelling of 'Hell On Earth'? - Will this use the id Tech 5 engine, or will it use a tweaked version of the Doom 3 (id Tech 4) engine?
  12. http://music.ign.com/articles/862/862384p1.html 8 Bit Weapon chiptune-ish album, for free on IGN.
  13. Indeed. He's had a lot of TV roles, did a good amount of narration work, and was a part of various plays. But I think more people here would know his cartoon and game voice work, since those were the areas he spent a lot of time in over the last decade or so.
  14. I think the audience would grow by a lot more if you added, "Tony Jay, who voiced the The Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series, Virgil the Lemurian in 'Mighty Max', and won an award for Judge Claude Frollo in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'". He's done a lot more voice work as well.
  15. Tell me about it. I was supposed to get a copy of Anet Futatabi for the Sega CD one time, and instead, I got a Russian mail order bride named Anetti. Sure, she was a lot more fun to play with, and like it would have been with Anet Futatabi, I couldn't understand what was being said. But I felt a little gypped. At least if the game was giving me a hard time, I could have turned it off. I wonder where that game wound up...
  16. Uh huh. And the US was just dropping off a couple packages for Japan in the mid-40s
  17. djp will tell us when he gets back from the party he threw with the money
  18. Two pages, and no mention of Tony Jay? For shame.
  19. Don't laugh. That's exactly what happened at the end of the first game. Plus, there were four endings with the third game. They don't have to go with the happiest ending.
