  1. You're remembering to use ASIO sound drivers, right? If not, head over to asio4all.com and grab them. Then simply specify that you want to use those drivers in your DAW or VSTi.
  2. Yep, he beat me to it. Very rarely are foley sounds/sound fx ever recorded wet for this very reason. If you want a machine gun to sound far away, then EQ it, or put a filter on it, lower the volume, and add a bit of reverb. Or, if you have money, you can buy something like AudioEase Speakerphone
  3. RIP. You da best, mayne. http://altpress.com/news/lespaulpassesaway.htm
  4. The Conduit Cripes, he reamed that one out hard. It's funny he specifically said "The music consists of nothing but a bunch of five second loops", considering the whole remix contest thing that AcidPlanet had for it. It was brought up here.
  5. Thanks! Much appreciated!

  6. I've never been personally that impressed with Digitech's sound modeling. But I guess they're good for introductory hardware, and they're pretty affordable.
  7. Was clear here. Didn't see anything
  8. Hi, welcome to the site. To answer your question, nobody signs up as an artist. It's a status that is attained for either being credited as a remixed game's composer, or having a remix accepted and posted to the site.
  9. Also, Red Waltz would be great - http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01740/ For the whole waltz/tango vibe.
  10. PM'ed a track suggestion to you.
  11. I'm not sure I'm the one best suited to answer your question, because I'm not much of a hip-hop writer, but I will say that it might be helpful if you post a small snippet of your track so people could possibly hear the context in which the trumpet will be used.
  12. Well, that's the idea, isnt it? I know, I know, I know, you were talking about the iLok
  13. I suppose you make a solid point there.
  14. I feel like José deserves his own emoticon. Happy bday, bro! Keep doing your thing!
  15. do you mean to say you retire from the OCR message boards? or simply this forum? either way, take it easy man.
  16. This is true. It's really not Mickey/Disney's fault that Oswalt got "tossed aside", considering Disney lost him in a crooked deal with Universal.
  17. I do agree that iLok/dongle management is kind of ridiculous. For example, Autotune will cost you $320, but no iLok is included. However, the $99 version (Autotune EFX) does include one, how silly is that? And I actually have extra iLoks because MOTU instruments do come with them, I believe with the auth data already loaded in the iLok. Me, I'm not a fan of iLoks simply because I hate tying my ownership of a product to a small piece of hardware that could be lost, broken, or stolen. Yes, I know can get "downtime coverage" or whatever it's called, but I'm annoyed by the idea of paying a fee to make sure that my ownership does not get compromised. Also, you should NEVER pay more than $25-30 for a Steinberg key and $40 for an iLok. If you're paying more, you are buying them from the wrong place.
  18. Haha, I see why it's called Chrono Chop. Nice work, bro. That was a fun listen
  19. Well, first you need to download the Enigma software from M-audio. Let me know when you've done this and I'll walk you through it then.

  20. so what's the dealio man, did you ever get your Axiom to work right? I figured out how to get the transport buttons to work like a charm using Enigma. And Omnisphere seems to work flawlessly now. How are you finding it?

  21. It's no shock that this sounds amazing
  22. Yeah, they do look pretty cool, although a bit odd, I think. They sit kind of slanted on your desk, and the 8 will take up a good chunk of space, so that's really the only drawback there. And I guess they're designed so cables can run underneath them, which I guess is practical. There is one other inexpensive option I can think of for a firewire soundcard - The Alesis IO26. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Alesis-iO26-Portable-26-Input-FireWire-Audio-Interface?sku=246031 It used to be $400+ (still is some places) but in the Musicians Friend catalog there's a huge price drop (as you can see in the link). I believe this guy is discontinued though, so if you decide you want it, I'd grab it in a hurry. I'll admit, I don't know a whole lot about it (haven't taken the time to read) but hey, it's a firewire interface by a reasonably reputable brand, and it's super cheap right now. The only quirk I can tell you that I DO know about it is that if I recall correctly, the knobs are endless rotary, which I do not prefer (don't really see why anyone would, when it comes to controlling levels). But hey, it got good reviews on zzounds http://www.zzounds.com/productreview--ALEIO26 Whoops, also, I totally overlooked that you mentioned MOTU. Another general rule of thumb is that MOTU = good. I've only had good experiences with their hardware. I'm pretty sure JJT has a MOTU interface, he could probably tell you more.
  23. So you're pretty set on a firewire interface then? Well the Profire 2626 has been pretty good to me so far, so I'd say you have my recommendation. OR you gentlemen can check out the Lexicon I-Onix series. They are pretty badass. The preamps are awesome, among other features. Read about 'em here: http://www.lexiconpro.com/product_list.php (right column) As a replacement for the Firebox, perhaps try the U22 or the U42S. For an alternative to the Firestudio, either the FW810S or the U82S should be comparable. One of the most badass things about the FW810S is this: So pretty much it's between that, or the Octane preamps of the Profire (along with some extra routing crap). Both are excellent choices, I think. Money well-spent either way. Same thing goes for the I-Onix USB series.
