Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. Hallo Forum, This is an orchestral remix containing various songs from the SNES game Palandin's Quest (aka Lennus). The current revision is #98, uploaded for Mod Review. The remix is unusually long (16 minutes) owing to the fact that it has been in development for 3 years. Since I improved skills along the way, the tendency for the remix is to become better towards the end. Many times, themes from the game are combined with or arranged in the style of the movie Hook. You will find the following combinations: Bright Homeland (Paladin) + Granny Wendy (Hook) as Leitmotiv Calamity (Paladin) + Lost Boy Chase (Hook) as slapstick interlude Holy Sanctuary (Paladin) + Mermaids (Hook) Momentary Peace (Paladin) + Remembering Childhood (Hook) = "Remembering Peace" Bright Homeland (Paladin) + Farewell Neverland (Hook) = "Farewell Naskuot" towards the end Furthermore, the 'battle alarm' from Robin Hood is used with the battle themes, which occurs a second time at the very end. Source breakdown 00:00 – 00:22 Lennus Ouverture 00:32 – 01:17 Momentary Peace 01:38 – 02:12 Momentary Peace II 02:12 – 02:40 Awakening Dal Gren 02:48 – 03:10 Calamity 03:20 – 03:35 Calamity II 03:49 – 04:18 freestyle – "Holy Mermaids" 04:18 – 04:37 Holy Sanctuary 04:37 – 05:45 freestyle – cont. 05:55 – 07:09 freestyle – "Sunrise over Naskuot" 07:09 – 08:15 Bright Homeland 08:15 – 09:05 freestyle – "Homeland Voyage" 09:15 – 10:07 Battle on the Plains 10:10 – 10:45 Fated Confrontation 10:53 – 11:07 Battle on the Plains II 11:35 – 11:50 Grand Victory 12:03 – 13:10 freestyle – "Remembering Peace" 13:31 – 15:09 freestyle – "Farewell Naskuot" 15:09 – 15:57 freestyle – End Titles Remix: https://soundcloud.com/adept_ocr/paladins-quest-rev-98 Collection of source material: https://soundcloud.com/adept_ocr/source Game walkthrough: Enjoy, and comments welcome. This was the original forum post (may 2010) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi forum, I am new to ocremix. I'm going to post an orchestral take on Paladin's Quest (Lennus). This WIP focuses on the technical execution of the orchestral sound. Do not expect fancy or original composition. It's a straight cover. - The remix was not based on a MIDI or sheet, it's all derived from listening to the source. - Every track was live recorded without quantization. - Proportional/differential controller used throughout (mod-wheel). - Instruments: combintation from EWQLSO silver + Garritan Personal Orch I feel that the remix went very reminescent in style of "gone with the wind"-kitsch. Hence the name. Original chip sound: http://snesmusic.org/v2/profile.php?profile=set&selected=1951 Remix: Feedback very much appreciated! Thanks
  2. It's been a while, OCR. It has been a while. I've been beaten down by many, but that hasn't stopped me from trying. This is my latest attempt at a video game cover of any kind: a French version of the Ballad of the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening. That voice is mine, as are the lyrics and music. Now have at that song, for I've done all I could. EDIT: TITLE IS BALLAD OF THE WIND FISH, I don't know how that stray N got in.
  3. Haggar and friends must once again save Metro City from its newest menace.
  4. -I wanted to share my version of FF7's 'Interrupted by Fireworks', which among many of the FF7 tunes has stuck with me years after playing the game This piece started out as a simple duet, between my violin and guitar now 2 weeks ago, but I kept adding more and more things -This is my second completed remix, and so I've had problems with quality, direction and mastering, but this little project has taught me a lot of things. Special thanks to everyone who contributed ideas/suggestions and to Jared Hudson for giving me some much info on how to make it shine just that little more -In regards to instrumentation, I tried to focus on intimacy and expressiveness to bring out the melody/harmony. -This thread was magically revived for some reason o.o Original 'Interrupted by Fireworks' Thanks DaMonz for naming the remix - awesome name <3 Remix Title: "Interrupted by Another Dream" I hope you enjoy =)
  5. Heyo, here's a remix I did for Punchfest 19: Youtube: Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/haki-1/panchi-no-fesu The entire thing was done in less than 6 hours, and I had to record guitars in 2 hours because my roommate went to sleep. Hope you like it! EDIT: Forgot the sources: - intro, verse, chorus - bridge
  6. Movie trailer music for a project that went under. It sucks that it did, but I really liked it and hope other people would like to hear it https://app.box.com/s/1a4ah3oyerkj452788vcgubynjcbwe1h
  7. Hi guys ! Here's my cover of Corneria from Starfox (SNES). Hope you'll like it
  8. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/34087043/Dance of Decision.mp3 This is an NES (2A03 no DPCM) arrangement of "Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer!" from Touhou 11 - Subterranean Animism. Original: (This video loops the track twice + a fadeout. 1:40 is where the track loops, so you don't have to listen to the whole thing to hear the source fully) I already submitted this to the judges, but in the future I'll probably post tracks here first since this seems like a cool place. While I am looking for general feedback on this track, I'm particularly interested in how much of the source material people hear in my remix; as far as my intention goes, about 2:58 out of 3:38 (about 82% of the whole track) is related to the original. I know that some of the relation to the source might be a stretch unless the listener is actively analyzing my remix, but I figured that a little over 50% of it was fairly obvious. What do you guys hear? .ftm for people who are into that: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3lTDlX2A630dTF4bDRSeDdfb2c/view?usp=sharing
  9. Got another chill remix for ya! I was inspired by Joshua Morse's work, and wanted to create something really smooth by combining elements from Jazz and R&B. This is a short little remix of the Sky Chase Zone from Sonic 2. Check it out!
  10. Ohai! I'm Gaia the producer for the new project Genesis Rave! This has been a lifelong ambition of mine to make updated covers of sega genesis music, which I love to listen to! The first wave of results is here! Genesis Rave - First Wave
  11. Originally created for MNP60. I currently consider it finished. Rather than keep the energy of the original, I chose to go with a softer jazz/funk arrangement. I'm hoping to get some critique and feedback before marking this for evaluation. Most of the instruments are sequenced. The intro strings(and strings throughout the song) are from ISW's Rhapsody Orchestral Colors. The soft organ-like sound combines ROC's string and brass unison patches, because I couldn't find anything that sounded right. Making my own organ, so to speak, was the best solution. The acoustic guitar(left panned) was recorded, while the electric guitar(right panned) is Shreddage I with ReValver 4. The bass guitar is Shreddage Bass, and the drums are Sennheiser's Drum'Mica. Finally, the lead sax is Embertone's Sensual Saxophone.
  12. Hi everyone ! Here's my cover of Battle With Magus from Chrono Trigger. It's the first time I used a "djent" tone, so if anyone have advices about making a better tone in this style for guitar and bass, leave a feedback =) I also need some advices for eq/compression in low register. Thanks. Enjoy !

This is a remix that I've been waiting to do for years and finally felt up to it. It is far from being done, but I have put together somewhat of an idea for it. Some quick notes: - The begin is not right, I know what I want 0:00-0:32 to sound like, but need to spend some more serious time on it. Not sure if I'll keep the vocals from the song, though I do like them. - The bass at 0:36-1:28 sounds a little too happy right now. Maybe it's the notes, maybe it's the settings. - Not sure if I'll keep the original vocals form 0:45-1:32, they were originally just a placeholder and sound messy and out of time, but I may fix that and use them. - I need to find a better second drum layer at 0:59, it doesn't sound entirely good, plus I need to figure out how to fix the one that's already there. - The relaxed section where the source tune changes is a bit of an eye of the storm kind of section that will have the first source come back even harder afterwards. - I love these games.

  18. Hello! I made a new cover. It's about Lufia 2 soundtrack, a little bit of sad theme. There has been some time since i uploaded anything, but this one got my groove back :). Main instruments are acoustic guitar and piano. I made other sounds like bass with DAW from the scratch. Here is the cover: and here is the original soundtrack:
