Nekofrog Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=50955 "We've received five new photos from 20th Century Fox's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, opening in theaters on February 27. Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak from a script by Justin Marks, the video game adaptation stars Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Neal McDonough, Taboo, Chris Klein, Moon Bloodgood, Edmund Chen, Cheng Pei Pei, Josie Ho and Robin Shou. The movie focuses on female fighter Chun-Li (Kreuk) and her journey for justice." So in a cast filled with asian people, they use the least asian-looking person they can find to play a Chinese woman? Asrggfgrgrgh Quote
Schwaltzvald Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 So in a cast filled with asian people, they use the least asian-looking person they can find to play a Chinese woman?Asrggfgrgrgh Sums up my feelings, especially since I can't help but see her any more than Lana Lang on Smallville for now... She has beauty but is missing much needed muscle to fill in the roll of Chun Li as well... Quote
Malcos Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hmm I really hope this doesn't turn out like the DOA movie. Quote
Palpable Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I seriously hope Robin Shou is playing Liu Kang in this. Quote
Bleck Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 this movie may not be so bad but I still don't care because it DOESN'T HAVE RYU AND KEN HEY LET'S MAKE A STREET FIGHTER MOVIE AND MAKE RYU AND KEN SIDE CHARACTERS HEY LET'S MAKE A NEW MOVIE UNRELATED TO THE ONE EVERYONE HATED - AND THEN MAKE AN EVEN WORSE MISTAKE ARGAHRGARH GOD DAMN IT Quote
lazygecko Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 You only need one Street Fighter movie Quote
Archaon Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Well. At least the animated movie was pretty sweet. Quote
Halt Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Since Ryu and Ken are not even in the movie or are just side characters. im not going to even bother with the damn movie, thats bullshit.. Quote
Sengin Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Well.At least the animated movie was pretty sweet. Are you talking about the single SFII movie or the short animated series (SFII V)? Because the animated series was pretty sweet, too. Quote
DarkeSword Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Since Ryu and Ken are not even in the movie or are just side characters. im not going to even bother with the damn movie, thats bullshit.. They're not in it. This movie is solely Chun-li's story, which is one of the plot threads that's been around since SFII/SFA. There's more to Street Fighter than Ryu QQing over the Dark Hadou. Quote

Kizyr Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Am I the only one that kind of liked the Street Fighter movie with Raul Julia? ...ok, yeah, it's ridiculously cheesy, but still... It did prove that Raul Julia can make even the crappiest lines sound good. I didn't mind Ryu/Ken being relegated to side characters in that one. I was more upset by Dhalsim's treatment... The one Indian character from my youth who could kick ass gets turned from a superpowered fighter into a pacifist scientist. Back on track... I have no faith that this movie could turn out even remotely good (even the "so bad it's good" kind). The casting call just confirmed that. KF Quote
Linkjing Donuts Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 i still think kristen kreuk is hot Quote
Geoffrey Taucer Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Does she have Chun-Li legs? If not, I will be extremely disappointed. Quote
TheHands Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 It will still be better than the DBZ movie. Quote
Nekofrog Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 i still think kristen kreuk is hot I still think she's not Chinese Quote
The Coop Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Well, looking at those pictures, I'm guessing this movie will feature a younger Chun-Li... ... and that the movie's ending will be a montage of Chun-Li going to the gym and doing serious amounts of squats, and the plastic surgeon for breast implants. Quote
Shadow Wolf Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Does she have Chun-Li legs?If not, I will be extremely disappointed. You know who has Chun Li legs? Shawn Johnson. She's the only woman (girl) I can think of with the thigh girth to pull off Chun Li. But she's also crazy short and decidedly not Chinese looking. Quote
Veritas Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 It will still be better than the DBZ movie. yeah...i'm not sure who green-lighted that one... Quote
The Author Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Ya know, every time one of these threads come around, I'm like "yeah, maybe you should wait to see before you complain." But it always turns out bad. Fuck you Hollywood, can't you get one good sleeper hit to get all these negative people to shut up? Quote

DarkeSword Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I still think she's not Chinese She's half-Chinese, half-Dutch. Quote
Brushfire Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 She's half-Chinese, half-Dutch. And allllllll hot!! Quote
Bleck Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 There's more to Street Fighter than Ryu QQing over the Dark Hadou. but that's the BEST PART Quote
