Wacky Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 A band with strong jazz/funk influences with a guitarist and bassist who like going into psychotic rock riffs every now and then calling themselves "You had me at Hello." Good name or not? Quote
RealFolkBlues Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 How many pieces? Some ideas: The Felonious Funk Blue Memory Ramble Also, "Had Me at Hello" works alright. Drop the "You" if you decide to go with that. Quote
Klowd1661 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Ehh... I'm iffy on it. I do think that RealFolkBlues had a good idea with "Blue Memory". Just my opinion though. Quote
relyanCe Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 "Had Me at Hello". Distinctive without feeling forced. Quote
Liontamer Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 "Had Me at Hello". Distinctive without feeling forced. I liked the original name, but that shortening of it works very nicely. Quote
Ferret Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Had Me at Hello works well enough. I'm prone to unusual naming schemes like Missing G String and things like that. Personal Holiday comes to mind as a potential name, too. Quote
3Sparrow Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Here's a decent band name generator. You know, if you're still up in the air on a name. Quote
K.B. Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Lame. Don't associate, it won't work. Even 'had me at hello' will always mean the band is some jerry maguire ripoff. Come up with something original, even if it doesn't make sense. Like starbucks. I'd rec names, but it has to be self-inspired. And I mean SELF-inspired. Even if you do a Trent Reznor and say 'do you know how hard it is to come up with band names' and decide on NIN, at lest it's self-inspired. Quote
SoulinEther Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 "Had me at Hello." Works.Or, "Melissa Theuriau Demands an Explanation (for this Bullshit)" Quote
LuketheXjesse Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Honestly I get a pop-punk kinda feel with it :\ Too many words at once for me, too. 3's my limit. But it's whatever you like, dude. If YOU think it persoifies this band, then so be it. I can respect that. Quote
Zephyr Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Drop the you, Had me at hello. Good Idea. Quote
Brushfire Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Not nearly as awesome as Abraham Lincoln's Sexy Experience. But you might get a lot of gigs with that name. Had me at Hello is a good name though. Quote

The Dennis Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Soundmanella Bad Porn (you said funk/jazz, right?) Had Me at Hello is good too. Quote
richter Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Lame.Don't associate, it won't work. Even 'had me at hello' will always mean the band is some jerry maguire ripoff. Come up with something original, even if it doesn't make sense. Like starbucks. Agreed. Why would a jazz band want to associate with Jerry Macquire? Pick a mashup of catchy words that relate to your band members somehow. Quote
