m68030 Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Seiken Densetsu 3 'Electric Fields' Right off the bat you know this one should be pretty good. The nice clean instruments and cymbal swells just sound nice. The choral line is a little iffy, but it works well enough. Quote
Nintendo Guru Posted August 15, 2002 Posted August 15, 2002 Let me clarify a little. This remix is from both Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3. It begins with the SD3 song "Electric Talk" and transitions into "The Boy Aims For Wild Fields" from Secret of Mana at the 1:57 mark, then slides back into Electric Talk at 3:40. We (Khalal and I) did this remix because a friend of mine pointed out how the two songs used the same background melody, just in different keys. The transition from 1:03 to 1:44 slides up from Electric Talk's key to that of Wild Fields. And that's why the remix is called Electric Fields. Glad that people like it. It's some of our best work. Newfie Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 Ahh the good ol' theme from the two Secret of Manas.. Good choice to make them both loop back into one of each other! This is an awsome song, and I suggest it to ANYONE! Quote
Dinobot 2 Posted July 19, 2003 Posted July 19, 2003 Holy crap. Iv'e really missed out on this one. This is a very smooth mix of electrical guitar work. I'm adding this to the favorite bin. Quote
maplejet Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 A decent track. But all I need to know is where the SD3 track comes in and where do I hear it in the game. I can't recognize the SD3 track. Quote
Kemusabi Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 I can't tell of any place that SD3 kicks in...I've played both games an aweful lot too. Both samples are from SD2 for sure, one is the grassland kinda theme, and the other is from the subway under the great palace where all the zombies dance. Dancing zombies...w00t! Quote
Musourenka Posted September 19, 2003 Posted September 19, 2003 First and last part of the remix is from Seiken Densetsu 3 -- It's the theme of the Dark Castle, which you only go to if you are playing Lise/Hawk's quest. Oh, and very good remix. Vocals sound a bit too MIDI-ish, but that's my only complaint. Quote
Shwenky Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Definitely one of the best mixes. Download it now. Quote
Bummer Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Isn´t this song from Secret of Mana 1? Anyways, it´s a very nice song with groovy guitarplay, and a little chorus in the bavkground too. Nice work dudes! Quote
Liontamer Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Isn´t this song from Secret of Mana 1?It's originally from SD2/SoM, but there's another similar version of the theme in SD3. There you have it. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 well mixed and creative, this is a really nice mix, despite it's midi-esque sample quality. The rhythm that has been added is really cool and gives the track a lot of energy, and the transitions are really solid. There is also a lot of really cool melodic additions throughout, and if it wasn't for the sample quality, this would be a perfect track. Quote
Rozovian Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Aside from agreeing with OA's crits about the samples, I find this a bit too repetitive. Especially the hihats. But it's highly enjoyable. Not much of a foreground mix imo, but an awesome background one. Had this since before I got the torrents. There's something about the choir that gives it an aquatic feel, which is perfect after a long day of school or work, and in contrast, the rhythm of the track would keep you awake before and during said long day. This has a great source, and it's well used. Highly enjoyable despite it's sample issues. Quote
DragonAvenger Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Certainly not meant as a melodically heavy mix, this has some pretty cool stuff going on subtly. Sounds aren't so great today, but I like how things are balanced through most of the mix. The bass line pulsates in a pretty cool way, which is one of my favorite parts of the mix. I like the idea of the choir, but it's very muddy and hard to distinguish at times. Would have liked to hear that clearer overall. The piano line that starts at 3:40 is very interesting to listen, and I like how it transitions to background when the guitar comes in. I would have liked to hear some creative stuff like that earlier, and throughout the mix. Nice work, an enjoyable listen. Quote
Bahamut Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I remember this - this always rubbed off as a kinda coverish take to me. With that in mind, I've always felt this was held back by the samples and repetitiveness with this straightforward arrangement. I've personally found this one hard to enjoy even back in 2002. Quote
swansdown Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 What? Why isn't this in my playlist? It's a great tribute to SD2-3, where the first half is quieter and the second half increases the intensity. Into the Thick of It is treated well and it segues into Electric Talk nicely! They meld great together. The real excitement comes at 2:30, while 3:40 is also gets pretty cool. Quote
