Phantasy Star II 'Pleasantly Dance in the Club'

First memorable thing about this mix is the title - best Engrish on OC! :D That said, this is a really nice club track - don't know about you guys, but I could definitely get up and dance to this! But that brings us the the remix's main problem - it's meant to be a club track. Meaning it's pretty drawn out (especially the intro and ending), which is great when you're trying to dance to it, but not great for just listening. So I guess I'd say this is a very well put together track, but not one meant to just be listened to.

Indeed, it's not a tune you can sit down and listen to intently, but it's good to put on in the background. The section from the Prologue is great. The only problem I have with the song is that the samples sound a little awkward if you listen to the song through headphones.

Just to let everyone know, U-ji has remastered this already awesome mix with much happier and active synths here:

http://www.muzie.co.jp/download/97591/songs194/under_the_moonlight-re_master.mp...mp3

[right-click, save as, or http://www.muzie.co.jp/cgi-bin/artist.cgi?id=a009386 ]

"Under the Moonlight (U-ji's Hard Mix)"

Both versions are excellent, and employ very professional synths. Certainly some of the best trance availible anywhere. MUST download.

Edit: Hmm... Just realized that the "remastered" version has been remixed to take out the PSII theme. Ah well, I'll keep the link here anyway, as U-ji deserves the recognition.

Indeed. U-ji has done well to make a remix like this to satisfy the trance fans. But as you said, it's mostly good to have as background music since this remix never gets to a climax where all the instruments releases all their strenght. At some points this remix actually do speed up the progress, but it never really gets to a certain level where you want to move your entire body along the rhytm. But except for that, this is a great arrangment. Kudos to U-ji.

I'd pleasantly dance to this.

It has a pretty long intro, with not a lot of melody at first, but once things start going, it's really nice. Great synths and well produced overall, this would be a great bridge track in betwen trance anthems at a club due to the not-so-melodic intro and outro.

Pretty good stuff, I bet it'd make a killer radio edit.

Taking into consideration the dance-ness of this, the long into is alright. Obviously as a 'sit down and listen' it's a bit long at 2 minutes before we get into something melodic, but that's the nature of the beast.

When we get into melody things pick up, although it remains repetitive (again, due to the nature of the track). Overall, it does what it's meant to, and there's nothing to fault for it. Just kind of hard to judge from a 'sit in my room and chill' stand point.

I'm not sure if it is the MP3 compression of the sample used, but there's a lot of really odd sound artifacts here. I can tell that this is mixed pretty well, though this has quite a trance philosophy attached to it (slow builds and it takes a while for any melody to fully kick in, if it kicks in at all) so I had to fight myself to pay attention. Bass is nice and the pads are slick for the most part (when the eq phaser pushes the high end of the lead synth fully it does hurt my ears a little, though). Despite some quibbles though, actually a pleasant trance mix. Not supershine highproduction stuff but I liked it, would put it on as just music to play at a party or something.

DANCE, DEIA'S LARRYSIG, DANCE!
