Level 99
So are we organizing? I'm all for this. If EVERYONE sends them an eMail, it'll help get the message across. They'd rather just take them down then mess with it, I'd hope. Honestly, we all know they're not getting rich off our video game soundtrack arrangements, but the megastart music they have up there. Is it just a free-for-all that we're going to take the form letter and send it or are we organizing? The latest Bad Dudes album is up there and we should look for any other friends with original or arranged music so we can all work together to request the albums removed - make sense? Power in numbers, baby! I sent in my email already but if things were to be organized, we'd all need to post whatever links we find here and then just include a mass of things to remove in the emails. Lets see what happens in the time that it takes people to find links to other things they know are free or being sold there without permission, they might act fast to take the stuff down. Mirby
hahaha that's pretty much exactly how I worded the email I wrote to them last night! XD But yeah, release the floodgates of emails.
KieranCarden
Is there a direct email address to reach them or are we forced to use their shitty contact form on their contact page?
Malcos
these retards have two of my free albums on here:http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/halc/pixel-perfect-%28lp%29/album_458558 http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/trending-topic-ep/album_536387 That's taking the piss, you release it for free, and they try to make money off it, and you get nothing. The nerve of people to do that, it's really maddening.

Mirby
They've also got ProtoDome's stuff: http://www.legalsounds.com/search?pattern=protodome&WOSubmitAction=search Let's just say they've got far too much shit for sale than they are allowed to actually sell. Since we keep discovering more and more and more stuff.
Rozovian
So, tell everyone that sells music to email them. If that doesn't change anything, let's email them on every email address on their site. If that still doesn't work, there's social media. We can also go and find the email address of whoever registered the domain or owns the server or something. We can email them as well. So there's lots of approaches to take. Mirby
Oh, there most definitely are. I already posted this thread on FB, and a few saw it.
Mustin
Well we need to know what all things that we're demanding to have removed. So just "everyone that makes music eMail them" doesn't do enough. Power in numbers - if we're all calling for the removal of the same stuff, we'll get there. Where's Larry? He's so organized - help us get this together, baby!
Mirby
spoiler: larry actually runs legalsounds and has been duping us THE ENTIRE TIME! D: Seriously though, good idea, Mustin.

He's so organized - help us get this together, baby! That's assuming they'll respond to pressure like that. There's also the possibility that they'll just auto-delete any email containing the word ocremix, or any other keywords they find that we're all using. Idunno, I don't really believe an email campaign is gonna get them to change their minds unless it's annoying enough to impact their work. And I do think we'd do a great deal of good in getting these guys to remove not just ocremix music but any free releases and any music by any ocr artists, and this is something that would be great if it'd spread to other music sites and get their artists on board as well. The staff with database access can generate a list of all remixers and all their aliases for these guys to remove... ...or to use for search engine spamming to further market their site. Glass half empty, I know.
psychowolf
i sent them 2 emails basically saying "your selling these products illegally without the creator being aware of this, i suggest you cease and desist" hope that kinda helps you guys. Mazedude
There's some hilariously wrong artwork for the old "Squaredance" album by OneUp Studios on there too... http://www.legalsounds.com/InspectAlbum?__key=468185
Flexstyle
I noticed they've got my Eye of the Storm album up there, too. I give that album away for free/pay-what-you-want. People regularly buy it for a solid $5-10, not the measly $1.53 they're charging for it. I mean seriously, at least charge what it's worth. Otakatt
I sent an email and poked around to see if I found anything else on their site. http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/dj-cutman/game-chops-volume-2/album_573723 http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/kind-of-bloop-%28an-8-bit-tribute-to-miles-davis-%27kind-of-blue%27%29-web/album_213178 http://www.legalsounds.com/download-mp3/c418/minecraft-ost-%28volume-alpha%29/album_429247 These people are pretty terrible. :\ I feel inclined to tweet c418, virt, etc, to let them know their stuff is being sold on this site, but I'm not so sure my tweet would be seen so if anyone knows them more personally making them aware of this would be nice. ETA: Tweeting anyways, since it can't hurt.

Otakatt
I think Larry's right. And I just found the Dungeons of Dredmor OST on the site too and I know that's on Bandcamp since that's where I bought the OST. *sigh* Geez... I also saw various Final Fantasy albums and OSTs. ETA: And the OST for Skyrim and... yeah. I'm sure there's plenty of vg music on the site.
Nabeel Ansari
You guys do realize that they're not infringing only on the remixers, but on the composers for the OST? This situation isn't at all different from if the remixers themselves sold the songs. What I'm saying is we should notify the OST composers as well. This situation isn't at all different from if the remixers themselves sold the songs. What I'm saying is we should notify the OST composers as well. That's probably not a bad idea, especially since OST are on the site too. Uematsu's stuff, Jeremy Soule's stuff, Tommy Tallarico... I doubt they have permission from Amanda Palmer to sell her stuff too. And call me crazy but I have a hunch they don't have permission to sell most of the licensed music on their site... I somehow doubt Cee Lo is selling his music for 9 cents a pop.
PROTO·DOME
They've also got ProtoDome's stuff: http://www.legalsounds.com/search?pattern=protodome&WOSubmitAction=search D'aw what? Uncool.Only $0.09 a track? That's like 6p. Anyway, for all of you who've got independent albums on this site, if you're operating under the Creative Commons licence (which is valid in Russia), even with that dodgy organisation they're hiding behind, it's still illegal for them to sell your music: they haven't notified us. Dyne
tl;dr (because I'm lazy). Anyway, here's something interesting from a Wikipedia article (this one in fact: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Organization_for_Multimedia_and_Digital_Systems) about ROMS or Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems. http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1203802,00.html
Jason Covenant
Please proceed; clearly they didn't get the message the first time. It will be my pleasure. I need to do some research first. They made some important changes to Russian Copyright law in 2008 I still need to read up on. tl;dr (because I'm lazy). Anyway, here's something interesting from a Wikipedia article (this one in fact: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Organization_for_Multimedia_and_Digital_Systems) about ROMS or Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems.http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1203802,00.html The site that received its "legal" status from ROMS mentioned in that article is now dead. See for yourself: http://www.allofmp3.ru The site has been gutted. The last blog post was in 2007. Music is not available on the site. And I know that Russian Copyright law has become more strict since then, partly as a result of that incident. I think legalsounds.com needs to follow in the footsteps of allofmp3.ru. P.S. Nice letter template Stevo, I think it's right on point.
