SuperiorX
Whoa, thanks Xenonetix! That list looks pretty good, my only edits are that Sonic 2 has different themes for it's 2-player zones too and Sonic CD has the JP and US themes. Doomsday Zone is a "no", but I think the rest you listed were ok. Thanks for putting this together!
Mirby
Someone please pick Sky Babylon. That is a great source that needs more love.
Arrow
Hey, Sonic 3 in the Sonic and Knuckles Collection PC port/compilation had entirely different songs for Carnival Night - , Ice Cap - , and Launch Base - ( , , and were also different for those curious who weren't aware of this before now). Are those possible as picks?I bombed out of FFCC in the first week, but I'm only gonna get better as a musician if I force myself to keep working at it, so I'm going to keep participating in compos. I'll definitely hop in this one. EDIT: Xenonetix's list is missing half the Sonic Adventure 2 playable stages. Does this mean only full stages playable by the good guys in any given game are eligible? Edited January 8, 2014 by Arrow

Those are definitely eligible too (we had a PC Launch Base picked last time!). And I'm admittedly not very familiar with Sonic Adventure 2, but you're right, all the main zones should be eligible. I just wasn't counting things like special stages or boss themes. Thanks!
KingTiger
How come that list is missing the last couple zones from Sonic 2 (Genesis)?
Troyificus
Anyone else notice that the music frpm Sunset Hill Zone from Sonic Advance 3 is literally the same as Green Hill Zone with a few minor tweaks?
Mirby
Yeah, Sunset Hill is a tribute to Green Hill, even in terms of the music. Also if anyone wants to avoid using sources used last SZRC, here's what was used last time. Tidal Tempest (JP) - Sonic CD Rusty Ruin - Sonic 3D Blast (GEN) Aquarium Park - Sonic Colors Green Hill - Sonic 1 (GEN) Azure Lake - Sonic 3 Ice Cap - Sonic 3 Star Light - Sonic 1 (GEN) Chemical Plant - Sonic 2 Quartz Quadrant (JP) - Sonic CD Hill Top - Sonic 2 Spring Yard - Sonic 1 (GEN) Emerald Hill 2P - Sonic 2 Chaos Angel - Sonic Advance 3 Lava Reef - Sonic & Knuckles Casino Night 2P - Sonic 2 Hydrocity - Sonic 3 Metal Harbor - Sonic Adventure 2 Splash Hill - Sonic 4 Episode I Rusty Ruin - Sonic 3D Blast (SAT) Planet Wisp - Sonic Colors Mystic Cave - Sonic 2 Dragon Road/Chun Nan Day - Sonic Unleashed Launch Base - Sonic & Knuckles (PC) Sky Sanctuary - Sonic & Knuckles Collision Chaos (JP) - Sonic CD Panic Puppet - Sonic 3D Blast (GEN) Sunset Park - Sonic Triple Trouble Scrap Brain - Sonic 1 (SMS) Launch Base - Sonic 3 Skydeck - Sonic Adventure Sky Chase - Sonic 2 Underground - Sonic 2 (GG) Edited January 8, 2014 by Mirby

I'll definitely hop in this one. You got the right attitude about keeping to it but you totally didn't bomb out of FFCC. There were people who didn't even enter, a lot of them. If I were you I'd consider myself a winner of FFCC. Because you are. I'm excited to see what you'll crank out for SZRC and I wish you had been able to make more for FFCC. I was being facetious really, but even so, I consider FFCC a win personally, because it got me making music again after a 5+ year downtime. That was far more important than how I did during the compo, and that's why I'm just as excited to try SZRC.
Rexy
The source list is almost correct in a way: 16-bit Sonic 2 is missing Wing Fortress, S&K Death Egg, SA1 Sand Hill (debatable; it's a Tails only level on a flatboard or something), SA2 all the Dark Story stages and Unleashed Eggmanland. Sonic '06's 'End of the World' is the equivalent to SA2's Cannon's Core in that it's , so discretion's up to SuperiorX on that.
Disambiguity
Heh. Turns out the music from Sanic R is actually "The King of Speed" from Daytona USA. The more you know, I guess. Also, thanks Xenonetix for the list
SuperiorX
I think I'm going to open this up for sign-up tomorrow night. Get your picks ready and be on the lookout for the official sign-up period to begin!!! I'll make a post and update the thread title and first post. We'll still plan to recruit for two weeks max to try and get 32 participants, and then kick off the first round of mixing on January 26th. Tell everyone! I'll participate. Awesome, glad you're able to join!
BlackPanther
Hmm. School will be starting back up soon, and I have quite the schedule this time around, so I will definitely have to weigh my options on this one @_@. I had a question though. Why isn't Sonic and the Secret Rings a game from which we can pick a song to remix? What constitutes as part of the core series?
wildfire
All of my picks will be from Game Gear titles, and they might all be from the same game (I loooooved Sonic Chaos as a kid!) And I'll greatly appreciate if all the people I have to go up against pick zones with midis available Edited January 9, 2014 by wildfire

Why isn't Sonic and the Secret Rings a game from which we can pick a song to remix? What constitutes as part of the core series? Hey Rashad! Mixing will be on alternating weeks (and depending on how far you advance in the compo) with the Sonic Bracket starting the week of Jan 26 (and subsequently Feb 9, Feb 23, Mar 9) and the Robotnik Bracket starting the week of Feb 2 (and subsequently Feb 16, Mar 2, Mar 16) . If you know your school schedule will be better on a certain week, I can assign you to one of the brackets specifically. Same goes for anyone else. As for Sonic & The Secret Rings... I was considering those "storybook" Sonic games to be spinoff games. So the "core" games are just your standard platformer Sonic games, whereas the spinoff games like the puzzle or racing games were excluded. Eino Keskitalo
I'd probably pick from the first Master System Sonic, because that's what I've played the most. If I participate.. really should concentrate on finishing my studies. But I had the same concern with FFCC, and I've ended up in the finals.. argh.. the best music comes out when you definitely should be doing something else. --Eino

I'll probably end up taking the Robotnic Bracket then, as the 23 of February is an important week. Although, I'll probably be eliminated by then xD. Plus it fits my schedule better . Although, I'll probably be eliminated by then xD. Plus it fits my schedule better . I should have clarified: I'll be randomizing the brackets, people won't be picking them per say. I just meant I would take in consideration people's requests if they know they would be busy on X week, then I can place them in a specific bracket if it helps. Yeah that shouldn't be a problem though!
Xenonetix
I've now fully updated the list as per SuperiorX's suggestions. Wasn't sure on Wing Fortress, but decided it would be classified as a Boss level. Death Egg is a Boss Level. Sand Hill is a minigame. Eggmanland is a boss level. I've added Sonic Adventure 2's Dark Story and Last Story.

That's right, and neither is Eggmanland - from all my attempts at the INSANE hot dog missions (unleased plat yay), it is more like an extremely long platforming level. SupX, what's your stances on the multi-character final levels (Cannon's Core / End of the World), mind we all asking?

Exactly. Wing Fortress and S&K Death Egg are both ok. When I said Boss levels, I meant truly levels that are JUST bosses (and not standard zones), such as Doomsday Zone. I guess Cannon's Core and End of the World are fine too, although they might be a little harder to utilize. Count me in! This sounds like a LOT of fun... Sweeeeet! It's been a little while since we've had TGH in on some OCR compos I was talking to Funk Fiction and DJ Max-E on Facebook too, encouraging them to sign-up! So we'll see. Regardless, this gonna be goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. Edited January 10, 2014 by SuperiorX
