Joe Redifer Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 Legend of Zelda 'Jazzy' An excellent jazzy piece from AmIEviL. Very laid back, and that's definitely cool. You won't be breakdancin' or scratchin' records to this (if you're into that stuff) but instead you'll relax and want to socialize. If all lounge music was this good, perhaps it would be a bit more popular. Quote
Woffester Posted July 25, 2002 Posted July 25, 2002 Indeed. This track has some good quality sounds. But as Stefan told me himself, it should have varied more. Though I think it does just fine. This is great lounge music, and its 12 o' clock right now, and listening to it, and I am about to fall asleep. Its great guys, get it. (and girls) Quote
mDuo13 Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 This is a nice jazzy remix of the main Zelda theme. It's a little short and nothing really special goes on, but it's fun nevertheless - easy to listen to, and a nice background - beats the heck out of elevator music. I wouldn't say it's AmIEvil's best, but it's worth downloading. Quote
Dinobot 2 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 I never gave this one a review yet. I must say this is catchy as hell. Its short but sweet. It picks up more so at the end and I wish that part would have been longer. I think one of AmIEvils better ones. Quote
Icct Hedrix Posted October 12, 2003 Posted October 12, 2003 This music is good for chill'n. This acctualy makes you feel like your in a lounge. It gets even better when it picks up at "0.50" then it slows down agian. Too short but still a good choice Quote
DarkLion Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 NOt Bad I guess but still would Pick the original over this one. Was a good try But i guess He did not put all his time into this one, Maybe next time. Quote
Viceroy Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 This is probably the best Jazz versions of Zelda's theme by far If you know of a better remix Jazz version of this song then please do tell! Till then, I rate this one a 10. Quote
jordex Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 the ride cymbal is all wrong! but the rest is good Quote
Marin Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 A bit short, but I like it. The ending is especially nice, ending without the resolution. Not a bad jazz song, either. 7/10 Quote
meccaneer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 This badboy sounds all fake. I don't feel like I'm in a lounge at all. And there be not enough funk. It just sounds like a robot; no emotion. Perform this with a real band and then we'll talk. Quote
ZBApoc Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Some people say this doesn't have the lounge feeling to it. Personally, I don't care. This mix is my favorite Zelda remix by far. My only complaint is that it's not longer!! Quote
lady zelda Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 It's an interesting take on the original. But yes, I do get the lounge feel. It's chill, mellow, and practical. Good work. Quote
KogeJoe Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I've loved this genre for so long, only, I never knew what it was called... lounge? Is it? I love smooth music like this, esp. of the bossa nova/ samba variety, but even though it looks like "bossa nova" could be considered "lounge," I really kept it in its own genre. It's just like, Jazz with a Brazilian take on it... LOVE IT... The mixer does a good job with the swing beat in this one, LOVE the re-work of the chords and the instrumentation. Only complaint is that he/she could have done more. Loved the feel, but it just ended too soon. Other than that, GREAT music. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Short but still containing some decent arrangement and expansion, this is a decent but clearly older mix. The melody is played verbatim with a touch of swing, and the real progression in the song comes from the accompanying instruments. The lead samples are kind of weak and rather mechanical, but it's a super early mix that helps give the site perspective. Not my favorite, but it's cool to see AmIEvil doing something that is outside of his normal comfort zone, and for the time, doing a pretty good job of it. Quote
WillRock Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hmm... this was the first of a barrage of legend of zelda jazz remixes... I guess this may have influenced a couple of that time period Quote
42 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 This just feels too mechanical; one can feel the datedness of it, but even so, I like it. Its got a great groove and blends Zelda with jazz extremely well. Definitely worth checking out for the Zelda and/or jazz enthusiast. Quote
Steven McFly Jr Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Boney James reincarnate? Smoooooth Daddy-O Quote
Crulex Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Funny, it almost sounds like a Zelda version of the BGM to one of my Clue games that has this genre. Very catchy, smooth, chill and it seems to be one of those "days of yore" gems. Nicely done with smoothing it back out after letting it take off. Could have been a bit longer, but really no complaints from me. Quote
Tables Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 AmIEvil, I remember you being a hero of the first few years of OCR, so sad to not have seen you in a while. Is it weird that the first thing I thought of was this tune being used a point-and-click adventure game? Like a Broken Sword or Leisure Suit Larry style (gameplay-wise) Zelda game. That would be silly. Anyway, even with the cheap instrumentation this tune is pretty nice. Sinfully short, but pleasing for the ears, and it does have enough of that lounge feel to translate. I'm also a not-so-guilty fan of elevator music and that sort of thing so this is right up my alley. Not too shabby overall especially for a first tune dang. Quote
