orkybash Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 Mega Man 5 'Good Night, Lil' Man' Good stuff - very emotional. Most of the samples were top-notch, with the exception of the strings djpretzel mentioned. All in all, I liked this one a lot! Quote
mDuo13 Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 Definitely a great follow-up to texx sound's spectacular first piece. Emotion very high, and in a very good way. Get it. It starts out with a soothing piano melody, which is backed up by a subtle violin, then a string section patch and an extremely well-played acoustic guitar. A recorder, I believe, joins in as well. This one never gets too loud and leaves you wanting it to go on much, much longer. Quote
lazygecko Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 It's nice to see a different MM game being remixed. I recognize the melody, but I still dunno what part of the game this mix is from. Quote
Kobayashi Maru Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 Yeah, this is a wonderful version of the Intro/Title screen music in MM5 where "Protoman" is going around blowing everything up and kidnapping Dr. Light. I can't say how thrilled I am to see a remix from MM5 on here! Now all we need is one for MM6...any takers? Quote
Illaminus Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 This is wonderful, with the strings, flute, gitar and piano. Ahh, the memories, they're all coming back to me now... This is excellent work, you have to carry on with this stuff texx sound. Quote
texxsound Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 Thanks guys and gals for the kind words. I'm working on some new stuff. Top secret Now I've got an electric guitar! Ho-ho-ho! Quote
zimafreeze Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 I absolutely loved it, but I have 1 big problem with it... too short!! I demand an extended version!!! But other than that.. awesome job! Quote
neostormx Posted September 20, 2002 Posted September 20, 2002 I like it. it does sound like a good night tune. anyways, I liked the string patches, i dont know why peoplez is complaining. they sounded tight. Quote
Trance-Canada™ Posted September 21, 2002 Posted September 21, 2002 I don't normally download Megaman remixs because I found a lot of them were too close to the original, I swear I can't put a finger on where this was from in the game either. I love it and I love your style. Quote
Ryan8bit Posted September 21, 2002 Posted September 21, 2002 Yes, a nice arrangement. I like this type of mix because it's nice to have some pieces from a game series that is easily interpreted as electronica, but have them be something like this. Good stuff. Quote
zimafreeze Posted September 21, 2002 Posted September 21, 2002 I don't normally download Megaman remixs because I found a lot of them were too close to the original, I swear I can't put a finger on where this was from in the game either. I love it and I love your style. This is the opening theme music Quote
Veovis Posted September 25, 2002 Posted September 25, 2002 I always liked the intro music for this game, and I'm glad finally that someone covered it. Definately has some "Myst" like quality if anyone has ever heard that music. Been playing it over and over so far. My only complaint is that it is too short. Quality work. Quote
Hamu-Sumo Posted September 27, 2002 Posted September 27, 2002 Quiet tones are not often heard to Overclocked so it is different from the other remixes. It's very emotional. If you like quiet remixers so you must download them. It's quiet, it's emotional, it's good! 7/10 (1=worst; 10=best) Quote
Emjay Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 This is easily one of my favorite remixes so far. I enjoy something that captures another aspect to a song than the obvious, usually (however, not always) energetic, rhythm. The guitar and flute duo effectively give the song the "good night" calm feeling that seems to be intended. ^^ Very enjoyable. I'll be looking forward to more remixes, texx. Quote
Ignis Posted October 19, 2002 Posted October 19, 2002 BEST MEGA MAN 5 SONG ON THIS SITE!!!.... because it's currently the only one on the site. But, none the less, it's still a very very good song and you should probably download it. Quote
Kain_Xiorcal Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Aaah , very good and soothing, I like the piano and acoustic interchange. Love it. <edit> I'd just like to add that it's from the title screen itself and not when the prelude (Protoman blowing stuffs) for clarification. I should know since I'm doing a romhack of it and have to put up with the MM5 music hours long each day. Quote
Broken Enigma Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 very very calming mix...my opinion of course...but man...that got me all sleepy...it was really good and reminded me alot of the title screen...people should make more of these but oh well..good job texx Quote
Varleran Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Very nice. I'd love to hear a remix of the Wily Castle stages from MM5, if anyone has extra time on their hands. That would rock us all. Quote
Bummer Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Definately has some "Myst" like quality if anyone has ever heard that music. Been a while since I've played it, but isn't that music more dark and mysterious? This remix is soft like a pillow, and also has piano and acoustic guitars. It may sound like Myst, but if I would decide, this sounds more like that would come from Final Fantasy 10 or higher. Beautiful stuff texx, main complaint is about the length of this remix, but lullabies are supposed to be short, right? I liked the sound you got from that piano, it had a very bright tone, and together with the guitar, this piece got a very sad feel to it. Makes me picture a spanish wanderer that just got himself a flashback. And then falls asleep. Great stuff. BEST MEGA MAN 5 SONG ON THIS SITE!!!.... because it's currently the only one on the site. I agree, it has been three years since this one. Can someone make a MM5 project? Please? Pretty please? Quote
avaris Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Short and sweet but a very heartfelt piece. I really enjoy the simplicity of this mix. The recording quality is not the greatest but it does not subtract too much from the piece. The strings and guitar put in with the piano really create some nice momentum and variation. Compositionally this is one of my favorite songs on the site. It says so much by using so little. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Piano at the beginning was a bit mechanical, but this mix has a nice charm to it, and the guitar was pretty good sounding. I think in the past 7 years, texxsounds has probably improved his production to the point that this would sound completely awe-inspiring if done today. The foundation is certainly there. The guitar playing is the standout one this one. A short, sweet, and perfectly imperfect lullaby. Check it out. Quote
Liontamer Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah, it's aged out in regards to quality since it was posted, but I definitely agree with OA that the foundation was there. The arrangement concept was very smooth despite the mechanical timing in the execution. Would have liked for more to be there, but no hate on keeping it brief. Quote
