The Author
Nah, I did not care much when she died. Tales of Symphonia made me cry though, but that was just a mix of good story and beautiful music.
Fishy
aeris dying was a little shocking, but the most emotional part of the game for me was cait sith getting honked by the Temple of the Ancients. but then he comes back so it's not really emotional because it's so awkward. I hate Cait Sith. If he didn't come back, and he actually died for good, he would have been one of my favourite characters, and then yeah that would have probably been my favourite bit of the game. Yeah, did you guys all play the Aeris death scene with the sound off or what? I knew it was coming, and while it was sad, what really made me tear up was the effective combo of CG, music, and the segue right into the JENOVA battle without a break in the music. No other part of the game is as unconventional as that (excepting the Honeybee Manor hijinx); even the ending is directed/scored more traditionally. *shrug*
The Author
I dunno, Aeris never cut it for me. She was not a very inspired character. In fact she had about as much personality as Palom and Porom combined; she just got the same fate. She felt like a disposable character from the start. Magewout
To think about it, other FF7 scenes were memorable too. Cid's flight, Red's father's death, Yuffie's mini-plot, Tifa's nostalgia, Zack's story, Aeris' mom. All of them were sad in their own. I think that's why the collective story was memorable. It had a lot of good drama. Not just one or two. Great. Oh well, now I'll NEVER ever play it lol.

I felt she was more of a plot device than a character. I found her to be quite annoying, personality-wise. I laughed when she died. I already knew it was going to happen, so any chance of an emotional connection was gone anyway. And for those people who say don't spoil it...the game is ten years old. If you haven't played it by now, you never will.

The Author
Aeris is a stupid skinny bitch. I hope that in the next game about FF7, you get to play as Sephiroth, just so I can shank her. I'd probably keep a save right there, for shanking purposes.
The Legendary Zoltan
Fishy said it for me. The plate falling on sector 7 was way more dramatic for me. I'm really interested in playing Tales of Symphonia. Similar to what I said about Star Ocean 3's ending, if Motoi handles the music, it's gonna kick our asses every time. vici_ruthless
yeah aeris dying was pretty... meh. i'll admit that the redxiii/nanaki dad scene did get me a little misty eyed. red was my fave by far though. cloud was actually my least favorite, followed *very* closely by aeris then barret. you guys..? Devyn
The only character in that whole game who is worth a damn is Tifa. That's it. Everyone else sucks. The whole game sucks. The only thing good about it is Tifa. They shouldn't have even made Advent Children. It should have been "A big porn with Tifa in it, making love to other Tifas" And that's about all I have to say. Goodbye.
The Legendary Zoltan
NO WAY! Barret is my favorite all the way. I mean, come on, he swears. And he's black. What's NOT to like?
The Author
NO WAY! Barret is my favorite all the way. I mean, come on, he swears. And he's black. What's NOT to like? He's 2 dimentional. its a funny thing really, they moved away from 2-D graphics to 3-D graphics, but they moved from 3 dimensional characters towards 2 dimensional walking stereotypes. The best characters in that game are really unexpected ones: Cid, Red, and Vincent. Cait Sith was more interesting than Barret.

Okay Barrett's cool but compared to Tifa they are all fucking garbage.

Devyn
I'm not being serious, you know. I'm completely neutral to that game. I haven't played it in like 8 or 9 years.

Devyn
I liked the characters from the early games a lot more. They were more like warriors and less like pop stars. This, of course, excludes Tifa, who deserves all that the world can give.

AarowSwift
I cried over Nanaki (Red 13) when he learned the truth about his father, but Aeris? I was glad to see her go. I never liked the saccharine twit..
Doulifée
she leave the group a little while ago. it's not that surprising. you spent some time playing without her.
shikigami
I dunno, Aeris never cut it for me. She was not a very inspired character. uh, no character in ff7 was inspired. i had hardly played for 10 minutes before i realized the game is utter shit, so i never got to see aeris die. although id probably be more pissed that they killed one of my usable characters than sad. if only they concentrated on actually making a video game rather than a movie. Terra kicks Aeris' ass. well yeah shes a fucking esper!
Geoffrey Taucer
I'm sorry, but I always thought Aeris was annoying. I was never at all attatched to her, and when she died, my reaction was something along the lines of "sweet." Now, in FF6, when Celes tried to commit suicide after Cid's death, I definitely cried. That was a brilliantly executed scene (ignoring the obvious soften-the-blow ploy with the Cid quote right before she jumps), at just the right point of the game, and it really drove home that feeling of dispair that was so appropriate for that part of the game. And of course, the fact that Celes was a great character all along (and had a heart-breakingly beautiful themesong) made it that much more powerful. That's about the only time I can think of where a videogame has left me in tears.
