This looks to be one of the few decent movies this season. heres a few traliers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2fWJ6ux8PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX773fMkS90 Discuss... Quote
DragonFireKai Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hmmmm... Will Will Smith do better than Charlton Heston? I don't know... Quote
Devyn Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hmmmm... Will Will Smith do better than Charlton Heston? I don't know... He has some pretty big shoes to fill for the Omega Man. If he lays off of the 'Vintage 2004' crap and doesn't act too cheesy, he might do a good job. Quote
zircon Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 You make it sound like he wrote the "Vintage 2004" line. He did well in Ali; he's definitely versatile. I think he can pull it off. Quote
The Damned Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 The only concern I have is that they go too far into zombie/vampire/mutant that eat human flesh crap. I liked the disfigured hordes of people that went crazy, in The Omega Man. But there have been too many zombie and vampire flicks lately for my tastes, and I have a feeling that if this movie goes that route, it will actually ruin it for me. Seriously, Hollywood. Enough with the vamps and zombs. Find something else. And no Middle Eastern terrorists. Fuck, find a new villainous group already. Quote
Superhim Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 And no Middle Eastern terrorists. Fuck, find a new villainous group already. I think it's okay to have Middle Eastern Terrorists until they stop being our enemies. When they stop blowing us up, we'll stop portraying them negatively. What would be outdated is if it were North Vietnamese and Russian soldiers. Quote

Vampires were popular before Hollywood was anywhere near as big as it is now. If you look at the synopsis for the book that "The Omega Man" and "I Am Legend" (and several other movies) is based on, which was written in the 50s, the whole point of it is that a virus has spread humanity that turns them into vampires. Check out the Wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Legend So, prepare for disappointment I guess. Quote
The Damned Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Are they going to be "OFMG!!1! GIANT FANGS AND THEY TURN INTO BATS AND SHIT!" vampires, or just people that drink blood and act crazy? Because the former is overdone these days and the latter is severely under-represented. It's why I liked "28 Days Later" and "28 Weeks Later". Quote

You're falling right into the communist plot! Red menace, etc! First our movies, then socialized health care and then... THE WORLD!!! Quote

Aninymouse Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Looks promising. Anything's bound to end up more memorable than Beowulf... Quote
Bobwillis Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Why the hell don't vampires ever use guns? They were human after all. Quote
Aninymouse Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Apparently, the "vampires" in this movies are mutated luddites! No, seriously, they are. Quote
The Damned Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Anything's bound to end up more memorable than Beowulf... PUT ON YOUR GLASSES!! Quote
CC Ricers Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I would like to see Will punching skulls of already dead people into dust. Quote
The Pezman Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 PUT ON YOUR GLASSES!! ...was this before the world knew Scrubs? If so, whatever. If not, what the fucking hell? Quote
The Damned Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 It was after she started on scrubs. She did a few random shows and stuff during and after it. But come on, there were parts of Beowulf where that clip came to mind. Quote
ILLiterate Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Why the hell don't vampires ever use guns? They were human after all. Slight Spoiler: In this film they do (or so says the script) Well not all of them, not the most dangerous ones Quote
The Pezman Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 But come on, there were parts of Beowulf where that clip came to mind. Well... yes and no. Some things certainly did feel 3D for 3D's sake. But I actually enjoyed that feature more often than not, as the objects which were 3D helped to set the scene. The steeple was a personal favorite. But I hated that fucking parody. They were trying to make a joke every second and a half and it all came off as forced and stilted. I will never think about it again. Ever. Quote

Dude, seriously, the bad guys should be Vietnamese-Russians that live in the deserts of the middle east that hate everyone equally and seek to establish communist rule all over the world while eating babies, tripping old ladies, and clubbing seals. Add suicide bombers, a pinch of salt, and let simmer. I think it's clear.... we have a winner. EDIT: If I'm not mistaken, I pulled up to the house around 7 or 8 and when I looked over to the cab, I replied, "Smell ya later." Quote
Legion303 Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Richard Matheson is responsible for about 25% of the original Twilight Zone stories, and is an amazing writer. This means Hollywood will rape his corpse and shit out something vaguely similar to his original, but with more stupid. -steve Quote
Kiyosuki Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 What I wonder most of all is if this film will go with the same ending as the original story. Quote
Fritz the Cat Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I'd be more impressed with vampires these days if they spent less time sucking cock and more time sucking blood. Quote
The Womb Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 What I wonder most of all is if this film will go with the same ending as the original story. I hated the ending in the original story thought it ruined the entire book so I'd actually be happy with a change Speaking of change It looks like the only thing that hasn't changed is the fact that there was a virus and that it turned people into vampires Quote
