*NO* Shadow of the Beast "Beastmode Mix"
Hemophiliac replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
As my fellow judges have already stated, there's not much going on here other than the original source with some different synth choices going on. This is not something we're looking for here, we want to see more of your own ideas developed rather than just the source with new instrument choices. Variation of drums, adding embellishment to the melody, or completely new original material...anything at all to call it your own with your own spin on it is good. This feels incomplete and unfinished. The ending just suddenly cuts off as well. Doesn't seem intentional The production is lacking clarity as well. The samples/synths are filling up so much space it's difficult to make out what's going on behind them. Wither that's due to reverb, long releases, or just pool level balancing between parts it's all contributing to a large wash of sound that adds mud and dilutes the clarity of the track. The style is interesting and I could see this being a early 2000s trance-vibe, but as it is right now this is not ready. NO - Today

Started out a bit hard on the piano tone, but around the 1:04 mark is where it really starts shining when we go heavier on the left hand. The small bit of rubato at 2:32 was really nice to have. The key change at 2:58 was great, as it flowed well all the way to the end. Overall, cool to hear some solo piano. Haven't heard one of these in a long while!

Snowboard Kids Redial 2025-08-23 1132.mp3 Snowboard Kids "Board Shop" harmony with Bomberman Hero's "Redial" melody, except for Redial's B section which is included. Original rhythms. They are both extremely similar harmonically, but if you listen closely, you'll see the harmony is in fact leaning heavily on the Snowboard Kids side. Arrangement is not complete but this is the general idea I'm going for with this. EDIT: Had the cool idea to do some solo trading between piano, electric piano and drums, but with drum samples of course and repitched. Pretty cool sound. Introduces some jazz tradition into this modern jungle style. Sources:

Yeah I will make a new link and catch-up on this / people's PMs very soon! I sincerely apologize for the delays on my part -- been fuckin' hectic and exponentially crazy trying to catch up with my album projects in-between falling ill (or, apparently, fucking up my knee) as I'm doing so. 😅😓 But this is still on-going! ...I'll need to start my own AOCH tracks very soon, too. I'm in this year. I now have an office job that gives me a buttload of free time to work on projects. BTW finally got a ReMix accepted

This one feels like a sketch with potential, not a fully-realized track. The drum programming lacks variation in velocities right from the start, particularly the hats - if the hats are present after the :05 mark, it's impossible to hear them through the fizziness on the reverb from the lead and the phaser on the harmony pad. I also can't hear anything in this track that isn't a 1:1 execution of the source with sample changes and a kick drum pattern added. There are definitely avenues available to build this into something special! I'm going to echo proph that Section 4.2 of the submission standards outlines the bar we're asking this to be above, as well as the Workshop forums on the site and the #workshop Discord channel to get direct feedback from peers - whether it's ways to improve the arrangement, the composition, the production, or even collaborate! I'd be happy to give this one another listen if it comes back to the queue, and I'd be looking specifically for: adjustments to the composition, whether that's a rearrangement of the source's sections or adding moments of original writing; adjustments to the mix, specifically reducing the reverb on both the lead instruments and pad to make room for the rest of the instruments; and adjustments to the programming across the board - adding variations to the velocities, durations, and humanization of notes NO (resubmit)

*NO* Shadow of the Beast "Beastmode Mix"
prophetik music replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
really old school original here, been ages since i've heard it. opens with some wide, very forward saws. there's a lot of verb and this is really blown out so the lead instrument has an overpoweringly present sound that obliterates anything behind it. there isn't any arrangement on this opening section to my ears that isn't in the original - i think it's even in the same tempo. there's a repeat of the main chorus section with the 'kick' sfx playing faster, but aside from articulating it on sixteenths, there's no change again. so again, there's no arrangement here unfortunately. and then the loop cuts as it's about to loop back to the middle somewhere - so no ending. unfortunately this doesn't fulfill what we're looking for in terms of arrangement. i'd encourage you to take a look at our submission standards, notably section 4, and utilize the workshop forums and discord to get some guidance on how to work towards a more complete arrangement that'd fit what we're looking for on the site. Episode #61 is out, this time it's a bit of a very special one as Markus Zierhofer, the Master of Music joins my side (he has a certificate of this, which surprised me!), we talk about his yearly project "Live Score Berlin", a project aimed to small to mid-sized studios to get one of their tracks done by an Orchestra. It was very fun and exciting to talk to Markus and I hope you'll enjoy the episode as well. Spotify: Youtube:

This is hilarious and super fun. I could imagine Diddy and Dixie sneaking onto this ride while trying to get to the other side of Kremland only to be equally amused and horrified by a kremling rendition of small world. Very well done with all the singers together and the performances with the pre and post ride announcers. Great idea, great execution, fantastic ReMix.

Just found some fresh 'n' fiery Lufia 2 remixes
Master Mi replied to Master Mi's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, definitely. )) And I found another really interesting Lufia 2 remix by Mystwalker, which I also added to the remix list in my main post (right after the three battle theme remixes). Check out the Triumph remix: Really impressive what a driving and energetic remix he has composed out of the little fanfare theme from Lufia 2. Kinda love the electric guitar passages after minute 1:33. ... There are also two more modern Lufia 2 remixes by him, but the themes don't really appeal to me that much – just in case you still want to hear them: - Lufia 2 - Cave Remix >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCfsnPX6YQ8 - Lufia 2 - Labyrinth Remix >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfU99NdOD2o -
Red Pearl was a heads-up pick! You'd have to know it rather than search for it, methinks.
