Super beginner question: Is it okay to start with midi files?
WT_Neptune and one other reacted to Ivan Hakštok for a topic
Yes. Looking at MIDI files, sheet music or guitar tabs is a great way to learn about arrangement, voicing, harmonies etc. (assuming they're properly transcribed) However, if you're going beyond that (sound design, production, recording), you'll need a lot more. Tutorials, videos, and lots of trial&error. Just copying a MIDI, replacing all instruments and calling it your own song is not the way to go.2 points -
Platonist - Space Domino
Eino Keskitalo reacted to Platonist for a topic
Hey, guys! I just posted the first single from a forthcoming mini album that will be released this summer. I've been insanely busy mixing a certain alt rock album so I haven't been able to be active as platonist over the past year or so. But I'm back again 'cause the album is done (not released yet, but stay tuned?). I have had 2 Platonist mini albums in the works behind the scenes for a few years now and things are finally looking up for at least one of them, so I decided to post a preview Single today: Hope you guys like it. Cheers!1 point -

Absolutely Only if you do next to nothing with the original song and pass it off as your own work.1 point -

Jorito reacted to OceansAndrew for a topic
GG To Jorito, sorry I didn't have an epic track for you to battle against, but I was just mentally done between this and the <shameless promotion>Upcoming OverClocked University Album</shameless promotion>. Your track was great and you definitely deserved the win.1 point -

Brandon Strader reacted to Jorito for a topic
I have quite a few of track deadlines to deal with, and as such haven't been able to work on my album track yet. I do have a concept in my mind and managed to recruit Final Kingdom to work with me on some vocals, it's just a matter of finding the time and getting the concept out. I'll shoot for that June 20th deadline.1 point -

I should be able to make that. I feel bad for not being able to work on the song for so long, but I should have a bit of time in the end of June to remedy that.1 point -
PRC321 - Chidora's Mega Love (Undertale + Godzilla)
Eino Keskitalo reacted to Bundeslang for a topic
Results Time The results are as follows. They are historic, since this never happened before.: Number of participants: 6 and 1 bonus mix. Number of votes: 5 The voting graph: Chalis did a great bonus mix. RonaldPoe did a good job, but got only two points and the last place wooden spoon Bundeslang and Xsquader tied for 4th place, with 8 points. They weren't far off. The winners are NinjaPenguinDan, PlanarianHugger and Supercoolmike with a score of 9 points. For the first time in history in PRC, we have three winners. PlanarianHugger and Bundeslang got a three points bonus, resulting in this small difference. It's good that Orlouge didn't vote Bundeslang 2nd and Xsquader 3rd otherwise there would have been 5 winners. This was a good round with 7 songs in total. RonaldPoe did a good job as well. But only three can win this time. NinjaPenguinDan, PlanarianHugger and Supercoolmike may select a source for the next round. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). EDIT: They all will be used for the next round. Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Friday (6 May), 12:59 AM ThaSauce time. You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links: http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above). Check the ThaSauce Page for the results.1 point -
Ah. Okay. I thought that applied to all future SE-related projects lol Anyways, this album is great and I'm even more hyped for FIRE now.1 point

OCRA-0057 - Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors ~II. WATER~
Necrox reacted to RiverSound for a topic
Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot to me as the only non-posted remixer on the album. I hope the last section was positively interesting! Its inclusion was more of a passion thing for me, an attempt at making the song more memorable&unique... I've found that some of my favorite remixes(jade catacombs, the quick and the blue.. off the top of my head) incorporate totally unexpected&original sections in addition to rearranged source material so my best hope is that at least some people might enjoy my song in a similar vein. Here's hoping that ocr still accepts songs like that, and it isn't keeping my mix from getting posted.1 point -

A fire is lit within me, and I have decided to extend this series beyond five albums. Here are the names of the additional entries to the series: Volume VI: You said it was going to be five Volume VII: This isn't even Final Fantasy, these are Guardian Legend ReMixes Volume VIII: Okay this one is just a picture of a potato salad? Volume IX: Wind Again, but with new artwork, and an audio forward from Darkesword Volume XI: Wait what happened to X? Volume XII: Volume X Volume XIII: More Final Fantasy V ReMixes because we actually do like that game Volume XIII-2 Lightning Returns: Volume XIII Now accepting sign ups for Lightning Returns: Volume XIII.1 point -

I got to give a lot of feedback on this as it was in process of being polished, and it's definitely one of my favorite Chimpazilla tracks for sure! I also tend to play this one out on occasion as well. Super proud of Kris for her rapid progress as a producer!1 point -

Hell yes! I already have some rad ideas for The Landing that I'm going to work on once I get this FF3 track farther along. Well we have very different opinions on Final Fantasy games But in all seriousness I'm psyched that you took Force Your Way. I can see you doing a pretty kick ass remix of that tune. Also depending on what kind of stuff you need, I'd love to be a small part of that massive collab you're talking about (like doing some guitar or bass or something).1 point
