  1. Hey guys, how's it going? My first post here. I have a remix from one of my favorite games, Link's Awakening. This one was a lot of fun to remix. Once it took off, it pretty much made itself, like I was both the driver and the passenger. I’m looking to see if I can get a second opinion on where I can improve. Particularly, if there's anything in the mix that stands out, or perhaps in the arrangement. Thanks a lot. I wasn’t planning on submitting this officially, but I changed my mind and decided to give it a shot.

  2. I've had an old version of this on my computer for the last like 8 years. It is nice it finally gets the attention it deserves, this has always been one of my favourites

  3. A tango spin on an upbeat, underrated track from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I never finish ORAS, but I'm sad to learn that the Abandoned Ship was replaced with some decrepit research station. I so loved the romanticism and intrigue of a lost cruise ship. What I love so much about the Abandoned Ship location is that it's not creepy. It's more a monument to travel and the past than a ghost ship. The orchestral theme from the anime plays up the romanticism and feeling of luxury. I adore that theme, and I've listened to it far too many times! And then one day in the shower ("too much water"?) it hit me – this piece works perfectly as a tango, rhythmically and thematically. I got to work, and here is the result. Enjoy! 4. sounds like you offered to organize! enjoy having a 4k security deposit on your credit card for six months =D i'd be possibly interested (low chance of it working out). it depends heavily on cost and location. i haven't seen everyone since before my kids were born so it'd be real nice to catch up in person.

  5. @The Damned Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. What you’re saying makes a lot of sense and the title is a bit deceiving. I suppose if I were to try to paint a picture with the remix, it would be more on the sunny and happy side instead of the gloomy sadness that the ghost house represented. While creating the track, I didn’t really intend for it to be happy. Original plan was to capture the sadness of the scene. However, as it started taking shape, it somehow went into the opposite direction. A little on the deeper side, I began imagining what it would be like from the ghost’s perspective to become alive for just one more day on Koholint island. I tried to capture the essence of the day, from the morning, noon, afternoon, and the evening sunset; the sections were meant to be symbolic of this, but only in my mind. I didn’t really expect anyone to interpret it the same way, but hopefully hat makes sense. @Black_Doom Thank you very much for your kind words, I think I’ll give it a shot and submit it.

  6. I vaguely recall a super-early version of this from the old project forums. God, was it that long ago? It's been a long time time since the album came out, and I always wished we could have had even more music on it. But it's nice to have a really good pokémon remix every so often. And this one will do nicely.

  7. I can hear the Pentatonix influence so damn hard in this one, and the bass is sick as hell! Funky, catchy, and arranged well enough to weave the source materials in and out seamlessly, there is just a lot of superb quality coming out of this song. Awesome ReMix, man!

  8. What just happened?! I'm sitting on my @$$ trying to reconcile this piece with the source. Okay, so doubtlessly this is one of the most innovative/crazy takes on the SoM source you could possibly come up with. At times I really felt like I fell into Sonic The Hedgehog 2/3! But holy crap, at least listen to 1:33-2:01, which is just a wonderfully dirty run. I went back and listened to that section three times! Overall, I have to give props even if I'm still flabbergasted how anyone came up with this - a vision outside the norm, thought, and executed... to excellence!

  9. Wow, what a feel on this piece! Stay for 0:50+ and you won't be disappointed at the way this evolves and feels. Reminds me of the happiest tunes out of Final Fantasy I, almost - a kind of hopeful belief with a tinge of adventure. The warmth in this performance and presentation is what really sells me here. So happy you made it to the finish line - well done both of you!!

  10. Quoted for truth & emphasis. This was far from the bar, Brett, but don't be discouraged and keep on learning. You have some decent sounds, but others were much more abrasive. Melodically, this didn't go in many creative directions although the attempt was made to personalize the sound palette. Dynamically, the energy levels were pretty steady/flat most of the way, so this didn't progress in much of a meaningful arc, though you did have a nice subtraction-based finish to at least have some dynamic contrast toward the end. 1) Use our Workshop forums like Nutritious mentioned 2) Do what you can to ensure your instrumentation isn't grating; and 3) Consider other aspects of arrangement like more variations in the tempo, rhythm, and melody, and adding in original sections or countermelodies. 11. Yeah, I'm pretty much in agreement with MW's comments above, but will try to give some additional thoughts. The intro starts out pretty interesting to set the mood. However, beyond that, the track is never able to click together. The kick sounds more like a muffled, reverbed bass drum than an electronic click, so it never cuts through and sounds out of place. I'm not big on hoover bass synths (that's the name for those, right??), but I know they can work in certain contexts, so not sure how to advise you there. The rest of the sounds, in general, sound sort of "out of the box" both with their tones and some of the effects used on them and don't work to compliment each other. I'll also second that with pushing the volume levels, the track starts getting overcompressed and distorted at times. It sounds like you're probably somewhat new to remixing, so I wanted to share a few tips that really helped me starting out: 1. Don't give up 2. *** Don't get too attached to a particular idea or remix attempt at the start - lay stuff aside and try something new. This will allow you to get more experience under your belt rather than spinning your wheels on a single song. 3. Spend some quality time on the WIP board - not only putting your songs out, but listening and analyzing other songs as well. What makes them work. You've clearly got some interesting ideas and a grasp on the basics of music making. Now it's time to hone your craft. NO

  13. Ok, the intro (Edit: I don't even remember what I was writing here, so I'll just leave it at that :D) Wow, :20 really works well with vocals complimenting the track. Enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek lyrics treatment. Love the overall groove and feel of this. Breakdown at 1:00 was an excellent change-up. 1:33 volume level suddenly jumped a bit too high compared to previous section, though i'm not sure why. It ducks beneath the lyrics a few seconds later anyway, so not sure what was going on with that. 2:30 again felt like it got a bit on the loud side with leads cutting a bit too much for what I'd prefer to hear. Happens a couple more times with lead synths in the last :45 or so as well. Arrangement is on point here. I found the OST forgettable when playing the game, but you've done something special with it, here. Let's go. YES
