  1. This is why Sir Nuts is one of my fave remixers--even though I have no familiarity with the source tune, I knew anything coming from the 'Nuts would be bangin'! XD

  2. It's time for BadAss to return! David L. Puga and I return to direct BadAss: Paragons and Renegades (title may change). But this isn't your "regular" BadAss; this time the heroes get the spotlight! From the grittiest anti-heroes to the most determined heroes, it's time for the protagonists to show us what they've got! The album itself will have genre restrictions like previous BadAss albums, but with a twist: there's one 'Paragons' disc (mainly directed by me) and one 'Renegades' disc (mainly directed by David), each with a different genre. So let's see who wins while still being a BadAss doing it! The Paragon disc is about adventure, determination and courage. Think of the Chrono Trigger theme, "Flameheart"by Two Steps From Hell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQMpRWuT6hk), and the 'X-Training' theme from X-Men First Class (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUCA6w0Zz-k) but it is certainly not limited by orchestral. Rock themes like the 80s/90s cartoons and shows (Biker Mice from Mars, Power Rangers or Airwolf) are also good examples and electronic music is certainly appreciated as well! Base line: getting you pumped up and ready for adventure! Make sure to send me an example of the vibe you're going for to check if it fits the album! The Renegade disc is more "regular" BadAss style, especially BadAss II. In other words, not the big epic or symphonic rock from BadAss 3 (which is perhaps better suited for the Paragon disc), but raw and gritty is the name of the game and rock and dark electronic music will be the go-to style here. We want to show the world that protagonists can be at least as BadAss as the bosses, so let their inner darkness out on this side of the album! For references (and awesome music), check out BadAss 2. Be sure to check in with David if you want to make a mix for this disc! More details will follow, but we're aiming for about 20 tracks (balanced between the discs) and we want to complete this in about a year (BadAss 3 took 14 months to be sent to eval, so let's see if we can do it in 12 this time around!). And suffice to say, only (anti-)hero themes are eligible this time around! Are you going to be part of the next BadAss album? Let's see if you've got what it takes! Directors: David L. Puga (The Joker) Pavos Audio Engineer: Stevo Bortz (Level99) Tracklist (18): Paragon (9): "The Hidden Ones (Assassin's Creed 2 & Origins - Ezio & Bayek)" by Pavos "Time Warrior (Chrono Trigger - Crono)" by Sam Dillard "Chariot of the Moon (Final Fantasy 4 - Cecil)" by Rebecca E Tripp "Revenge on the Terror From The Deep (Chrono Trigger - Magus)" by Audio Mocha & Pandora's Bread "Human After All (Sundered - Eshe)" by David L. 3. Good, because SOR 4 is just round the corner hehehe...ahem yes. Soundcloud it is then, or until Bundeslang manages to fix it.

  4. Temporary Solution Kind of looking forward to a dark theme, even if it means not being able to copy/paste formatting. Bright white makes my eyes bleed after 10 mins. Something to do with the blue-light from modern monitors and cellphones being amplified by bright colors like white.

  8. Eh, I'm considering the Soft Version the out-dated one. But i'm glad you liked most of it. Heavy ver.

  9. Ok so for the soft version, i love the build up. Great use of synthesis and definitely has a nice atmospheric sound to it, that is of course until the drums kick in, then it becomes more of a familiar tune. Maybe enhance the drums, for what the sounds are doing. Mainly in the beginning and end, when the tempo speeds up, the drums are fine. As a whole good job. The heavy version doesn't seem to exist on your SoundCloud (I think you've removed it), as i could talk about that. For what it is though, what you've made sounds really good, so keep at it. EDIT - Ok it seems to work now. For a second i'd thought you removed it. In terms of contrast i sense a more metal approach, but a lot of what i've heard in the soft version, is present here. Nice contrast, but a bit similar. Still though keep at it, these sound great.

  11. So... Mak has joined the project with a really rad Renegade take on Firebrands theme from Gargoyles Quest!

  12. The chimes are a bit weird, but other than that, I really enjoyed this. The stereo effects are great, mixing is on point, and other than the chimes (they sound a bit too detuned, to the point of being almost off-key), your synth selection is pleasing to the ear. And like you stated in the OP, the piece gets more energetic later on. Nice combination of the two (very different) themes of Lava Reef. Edit: because of your awesome mix, you've inspired me to make one myself. Thanks for that!

  14. Arise, thread. WoW Classic is coming out soon. Where are ya'll droppin'? Right now most of my crew is split between Herod (PvP) and Mankrik (PvE). We'll probably spin up a Disciples guild on both as soon as we have the signatures and the cash gold. Anyone else comin' back for vanilla? Also, look, I know shadow priest isn't raid viable, but you'll have to pull that class from my cold, undead hands.

  15. I have to disagree on the lack of interpretation on the first half. There's quite a bit of it, although it is very subtle. The pizzicato sequence is not the same as in the original, it changes to harmonize with the progression instead of being static, and the changes from measure to measure are different as well. The background strings also do not follow the progression verbatim, although they do start on the same notes. The piano as well has some subtle changes and addition of extra notes in the higher registers that are all new. The main melodies remain very closely tied to the source but there is work done in the first half and calling it a straight up cover is really not fair. The second part expands on the source in more evident and creative ways. I did enjoy some of the chord resolutions which fell into more pleasant harmonies than the more somber tones expressed in the source, 1:32~ is a good example of this. In my opinion this track is totally fine arrangement-wise. Production-wise more could have been done in regards of humanization and the performances. Some envelopes in the string seem identical to one another giving them quite the mechanical feel. I hope @Gario takes a look at this one because he's much better than me at expressing how orchestral instruments could be humanized better. Overall, even with the not-so convicing handling of the performances I think this is a few inches over the bar for me. YES (borderline)

  16. Lion King was brutal. Never finished it. I don't remember it being that much fun, either. Maybe I was just frustrated in that stupid thorn level.
