  1. No! Stick around, please. I'm flattered, but I understand. It is intimidating to have your work standing with other mixers. Comparison is rarely kind. Last year, I worked with Wassup T to make something for the OCR Christmas album. We had fun, but there is/was some seriously impressive stuff there. But please, don't let the comparison stop you from mixing. Keep moving forward, make new songs, learn little by little. You'll keep getting better.

  2. The People's Remix Competition 418 PRCv17-16 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! Last round Wassup Thunder claimed the victory, leaving Bundeslang behind with the wooden spoon. Bundeslang decided to accept the result, taking his loss and congratulate the winner without going to the court to try to claim the win. Because christmas is getting closer, Wassup Thunder decided to put a source which suits the time of the year. Source: Sonic 2006 (PC) - White Acropolis Snowy Peak http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC418_S06-WhiteAcropolis-SnowyPeak.mid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_(2006_video_game) http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC418 The deadline is Wednesday December 16th 2020 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC418 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC420, the first round of next season. The winner of PRC417 also may pick a source for that round. The winner of PRC416, Wassup Thunder, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! PRC Home Page

  3. Look man, I have a different interpretation of what a Meat 'n Potatoes remix is from Hoboka (I like to think of it as more of throw your initial idea at the wall and see what sticks kind of thing). However, that does not stop me from entering these competitions. In fact about a year ago one of the MnP remixes I did actually made it to OCR*. At the end of the day the important things with these competitions is to have fun. I use this competition more as a production test bed in terms of how quickly I can get an idea down and get something of decent quality out. While it may not seem like it, each completed track that you do no matter the quality of writing or production or whathaveyou is experience, whether good, bad, or neutral. With experience you know what works and what does not work. You just slowly build up this palette of preferred tools and techniques that work for you. Maybe you like to mix in LCR. Maybe you prefer to use simple libraries or synths over complicated ones. Maybe you have a preferred set of plugins that you put across every track. I dunno. Use these friendly competitions as test beds to see what sticks and what does not * - There is a bit of a story here. Initially it got rejected or whatnot from an initial listen by a judge (or something to that effect). At any rate I disagreed and requested that it be sent to the panel regardless and it turned out that in general my suspicion was correct that it was more minor things that needed to be ironed out. After some rework and whatnots I resubbed it and it made it to OCR.

  4. Got my entry done and in. I look forward to seeing how many metroid games get represented. Though I didn't help, by adding another Metroid Prime 3 track, haha!

  5. This was such a fun game from my childhood and this track in particular is so strange and catchy. I would just love to hear it some sort of updated form. I also love the original composer's comment about this track. He contracted some sort of stomach flu while making this one, hence the queasy synths. It's a dark, trippy electronic track that has a bright "relief" middle section. Just love it.

  6. I haven't listened to the entries yet, but we're all just here to learn and have fun. I've learned a ton by doing these over the last few years. Entering these competitions should be a low stress thing, even if the amount of work and love you put into your entry is high.

  7. Welcome to the voting stage The mixing stage is over. This round has 2 songs and a bonus mix by Wassup Thunder. The following people compete against each other: TheVideoGamer Souperion To vote, do the following: · Visit http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC417 and listen to all the entries. · Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM. · Fill in the entries from first to second in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 2. Leave the third box empty. · State a reasoning for it. · Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, They get a 3 point bonus so it doesn't help them to win (or avoid the wooden spoon). · Wassup Thunder has a vote that counts twice. · Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results. Especially since some people might vote by sending me a PM. You have until Monday November 30th 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (11:00 UTC, 12:00 GMT) to vote. If you vote by PM make sure that your top 3 is clear. I prefer something like this: (To) (Subject) PRC ### Vote (Message): 1: (remixer A ) 2: (remixer B ) (reasoning) I will post the feedback given in the PM’s and the votes in this thread. The winner may choose the source tune for PRC420.

  8. Huh, I was about to quote my first-post Rule Page, but I realized that I neglected to add the stipulation: "Try to avoid making comments about other people's submissions until the Voting Process concludes"...But that's my bad for not putting it in there. Bundeslang relies on that Rule for PRC, it's to avoid seeding ideas into people's minds that someone's work isn't as good as the rest, which can create a Voter Bias of a sort. Thanks for reminding me haha. Also, win or lose, I hope our feedback is helpful. If not, then hopefully you'll have had at least a bit of fun. Nobody here really goes by the expectation of winning, otherwise, I think they'd have dropped out a long time ago. You'll find your groove and rest assured, you'll win something. Can't really force it. I used to think this way at PRC until Bundeslang gave me roughly the same pep talk. (edits) I hope this helps and try to stay sane in this crazy ass time we live in.
