The guy who leads the electronic music club here at Iowa State is working on a lo-fi Reactable -- hopefully the club decides to make a better, fully functioning one. In any case, the video he has up is pretty good --

So....holy ****. That's about all I've got for today -- this is the best idea ever. Reminds me of the awesomeness I found in Game Informer this month. "If Smash Bros. were a movie it'd be a Godfather remake set in the Star Wars universe starring Spider-Man and the Terminator."

There's got to be a way around this, since OCR definitely doesn't "control the rights for the original song..." for any of the source tunes here, and while I'm not involved with the site on an administrative level to know for sure, I highly doubt that every individual composer/company of every game represented here has granted specific rights to the site.

I'm only about 5 hours in, but the ship-flight design forces it into many small stages instead of the large world that you had many different paths to explore. I'm assuming that there's no instant-transportation between planets (warp-gates etc.)?

I got the "better" Adventure Island in February because I'm a huge fan of the original series -- it wasn't better overall (though the new weapons helped quite a bit). DKJr Math....don't buy it. Bonk 3 is good, but I'm waiting on it since I just bought Star Fox 64 and Super Metroid this morning. Still, I continue to be impressed with the VC -- the game list is good now, and if they keep up this release schedule, it'll just get better.

That's more of what I was going for -- obviously I enjoy text adventures, or I wouldn't be playing through PW. I played King's Quest and Wizardry when I was younger (I'm 22, for reference) and still didn't hit the original releases. Goblin Quest 3 was especially memorable. With that said, I wasn't old enough to buy those myself -- the first computer games I remember receiving as "mine" instead of my dad's were Commander Keen and Jazz Jackrabbit.

I just finished playing through the 3rd Phoenix Wright game this morning (stayed up until 3:00 playing it...yes!) It's absolutely incredible. The 5th case was a whirlwind of awesome start to finish. If any of you guys played the first one, get this now (even if you didn't like the 2nd that much) -- it's a great read, and a real tribute to the text-based games of our parents generation.

I wonder what Charizard's Up+B will be -- Fly, perhaps? Is there a Fire-related Pokemon move that will send him upwards? I haven't seriously played a Pokemon game since R/B. Edit: Read the last pages -- Seismic Toss would indeed be a good substitute.

Any unlockable content that's really worth the time? As in, playable content or super upgrades etc.? I'm not interested in art galleries and other "look at me" things right away. Edit: Oh, and this game has the happiest controls...ever. I want to get a some Wii online shooter action with this control scheme.

Was all of the backstory covered in J2E's fan translation? I seem to remember knowing it for some reason...
-
Wait, you mean that for the DS remake, they're actually cutting parts of the story? At the very least, we need the same translation and amount of script as in the GBA game, and I'd prefer slightly _more_.

Oh god, not everything should be a musical!

The trailer's music didn't sound bad at all -- I'd give it a whirl if it was in the area. Not worth flying to London over though. Also: there was a Last Starfighter musical? Now that's worth watching. -
You know it occurred to me that (very) early on they had a mock up of Prime 2 running on the Wii controls. I wish they'd rerelease the first two with Wii controls (and yes, I realize that it's not going to happen).

I would actually like to see at least one move changed from all of the characters, and in some cases two or three. Mewtwo (if he returns) especially could use a changed up moveset.
-
So, tomorrow at noon -- seventeen hours and some change to wait. The day before a big release always feels like a waste to me...
-
I really hope that the reference doesn't turn out to be false hope -- a chronological 2D Metroid sequel is my ideal game, really. ....until Unreal Tournament 3 comes out, anyway.
-
It's actually just the first one -- not the NES game. Good item in any case...hopefully it will make for some awesome combo videos.
-
I really hope that they give FFVI the same treatment. Looks awesome, and I'll be getting it day one. Any word on new bonus content?

The main theme of Metal Gear Solid is up there.... ...but the most iconic song of all VG music is probably the Final Fantasy Prologue (bridge-crossing theme) that plays during each game's credits (and in FF12's opening, which was incredibly awesome). When someone hears it, they just know. Edit: The SMB theme is just as iconic, but I picture the orchestrated Prologue when I think of FF, and the 8-bit chiptune when I think of SMB...

help? converting itunes' m4p into mp3?
BardicKnowledge replied to monkeybrain's topic in General Discussion
Finally, if you've got a good sound card, there's probably an option somewhere to automatically record what is coming out of your speakers at any given moment (I'm thinking of Creative's X-Fi line, but I'm sure that others have this feature as well). -
Wait, Nintendo said that the ZM ship isn't the SM Wrecked Ship? Stupid -- the whole design for it was very obviously taken from Super Metroid. Besides, it's cooler that way in any case.
-
First of all, I got the album today (yay!). Second, it's breathtakingly beautiful -- the best CD I've bought in an extremely long time. Finally, if every CD I ordered came with a letter about future plans and a handwritten thank-you note, I wouldn't download a tenth of the music I download now. Good stuff all around...congratulations again if you read this, Helen!

Hey, this is good stuff -- I'm looking forward to participating!

I always wanted to play guitar -- this game looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

Does anyone here know where I can get a homebrew program that will use the microphone and record to flash memory (e.g. my R4)? It'd be useful in the next few weeks as I work on a project. Sound quality doesn't need to be great -- I just need to be able to pick up speech on it.
