Like others said the video is too repetitive to warrant 23 minutes of length. Anyhow, I've rescued enough women in games for a lifetime. So I wouldn't shed a tear if the trend ceased. Also, Palpable nailed it. The formula is overused due to lack of imagination. That's why we'll never play an action platformer about a queen in her 50's trying to divorce her husband because he refuses to take a shower.

Not really a fan of the snare at 2:42. I also felt the transitions from one song to another could have been a little longer. But nice instrument selection. And I commend you on your source choices.

The music in Road Rash has a C64 feel to it (Rob Hubbard is a prolific composer from that system, so it's no coincidence). This remix also evokes that impression with the lead at 2:23.

Marvelous rendition, indeed. I recognized the Shinobi reference before reading the write-up. That is because I'm a total Sega freak.

Right now you have the lead guitar as the dominant instrument for the entire track. Trade it with other ones from time to time. Rock organs and saw waves are good candidates for that. Add small doses of orchestra hits as well. Instrumental variety should be the first concern in my opinion.

The only way to get that sound is to hack the samples out of the rom. You can do that by downloading the Nebula Jukebox player. In there, you have a full channel mixer where you can mute/solo every single channel used within a song. Not only it allows you to get the samples, it is also a great way to learn the music and to hear the tricks they use.

I made this soundtrack using samples from the forgotten arcade game Dimahoo. The whole thing is only 11 minutes long (I had plans to write a final boss and an ending theme, but the developer was in a hurry to release the game :-/).
