  1. I don't really care about the game not sharing much in common with the original Hard Corps. I am always one for some good fast-paced action and this fits the bill.
  2. Go to Members List > Search Members > Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other): Sitar http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=48528 http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=31345 http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=24787 http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=43696 http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=38016 And there you have it.
  3. Very nice. Were you inspired by this album or did you come up with that approach after listening to some original R&B music?
  4. Most soundtracks use this to some extent.
  5. I think the article is spot on. The "gear" fetish is so widespread that many people feel like they can only make good music if they have the most expensive equipment ever made. They won't consider any other options first. And then there are these people who frown upon others who don't use the latest version of FL Studio for example. Of course you can have new features in an upgrade and all that, but in the end practice makes perfect and nothing else will do the talking on that matter.
  6. Excellent! I didn't need to know the original to appreciate it. This is good music and that's all that matters.
  7. I decided to make this after listening to some Neo Geo music on Nebula Jukebox and accidentally finding a hidden track in the sound test of the third game with many instruments playing each note from the lowest to the highest pitch, so it was just a matter of isolating every interval and importing them to the Vienna soundfont editor. An easy, yet very long and tedious task. There are 10 patches, but none of them have loop points (except for the saxophone, which was added as a raw pack) due to most instruments not behaving well with loops. I would like to expand the variety of patches at a later date, because I couldn't include stuff such as (they aren't as exposed for potential sampling as the rest). As for the FM synths, you'd rather use something like VOPM or FM7/8. Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1409948/Metal%20Slug.rar Example: http://tindeck.com/listen/xvmk
  8. But there are people who only go to this place when it comes to their everyday video game remixes. Ergo, there is nothing overwhelming negative about that.
  9. Every work on OCR is also posted on Youtube, so it's not like those other sites became redundant as they help spread the music as much as possible.

  11. Will you organize another Street Fighter themed competition without this restriction?
  12. http://soundcloud.com/txai Why is my picture jpegged to hell?
  13. No, it was Norio Hanzawa. Same guy who did the music for Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, The Simpsons Arcade, et cetera.
  14. http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01479/ This is the closest to the genre you will find, I think.
  15. Track 2 and Track 9 are from Zelda games. Track 3 is an original song I wrote using synths and percussion from Shining Force II. Track 4 is from Ragnarok Online. Track 5 is a remix of Low G Man (pretty sure you weren't aware of that!). Track 10 is from Phantasy Star III. Track 12 seems to be from DKC3. Track 12 is an unfinished vgm remix, but it doesn't specify where it's from. Not sure whether the other tunes are originals or not, but Track 13 sounds like it's from some traditional Christmas music.
  16. I don't think Joe Redifer is saying it's a bad game. It's just that it's the same formula being used over and over.
  17. Run 'n' gun Mario game with hand drawn graphics.
  18. I am not sure about the others, but the GBA one was taken from an emulator.
  19. I would say the opposite. There are a ton of favorites and some hidden gems. Great music and all, but like jmr I am not satisfied with this list due to the lack of game variety. Guess I'll just go ahead and make my own.
  20. Or maybe you could add the music to, you know, a winamp playlist or something.
