I don't agree that the judges are biased against ambient stuff. Patrick Burns track from Balance and Ruin, which was posted, is a perfect example of an ambient and mellow track with great execution.

For my own part I have come to the point where I'm not interested in writing original music anymore. I haven't written a track in years. So OCR gives me an outlet to keep making music rather than quitting, which I was considering last year. I don't mind abiding by their standards because it's still lots of fun to rearrange video game themes I grew up with. Of the tracks I've had passed, I don't feel that I had to compromise my vision on any of them. idk, that's just my view.

Were you the one who looked these people up for the purpose of buying the domain name, or did they come to you? If the latter, it looks like an obvious scam. The escrow and direct wire payment options are an extreme giveaway.

Agreed with ACO. Also, everything sounds super lo-fi, which I don't think works for an atmospheric soundscape. There's an abrupt transition at 1:42 that's pretty jarring. Some of your resonant sweeps are distorting, which I don't think is a good sound for ambient.

I can't count the number of times I've read something to the effect of, "I don't know how you keep releasing so many awesome remixes!" As if OCR is a single entity that is producing all the mixes.

It seems that the judges hit a wall early in this year. As an outsider looking in that is my impression. Maybe there's something going on behind the scenes we're not aware of. But it's disappointing to see our submissions trapped in purgatory.

I don't have hair loss in my direct family, so it'd be a damn shame to ruin that with creatine.

For my part I'm extremely jealous of BGC's success.

Figure I'll share some progress... I actually have some semi-abs going on. Nothing to write home about, but I've never had anything approaching visible abs in my entire life, even during my teenage years when I didn't have a belly pouch. Course I never exercised regularly before. I'm a classic ectomorph/hardgainer, so this is pretty cool for me, and makes me want to go even further.

Does anyone here take creatine? Seems like it just provides you with some extra energy during a workout after you've ingested enough of it. Wondering if it's worth it, or are there side effects.

That site seems much more expensive than the society6 page you linked to. The framed prints there seem pretty cheap. Not sure about the quality difference. edit: I see there are different ones on the two sites.

Luckily for you, Valhalla DSP plugins are 50 a piece, and they're all awesome.

As I get older I prefer games at take 10 to 15 hours to complete. There are many games that i simply don't finish anymore. I don't have as much patience for 50+ hour slogs as I used to. That said, I recently clocked up a ridiculous 85 hours in Tactics Ogre LUCT. I probably could have written a few songs in that time. I spent probably 200 hours in Oblivion, and have only finished it once. I honestly view that time as wasted. Not sure if any of this answers the OP. I think as gamers age their time becomes more valuable to them, and they're more likely to want games they can finish in a reasonable amount of time.

Did you turn the drums down? Things sound more balanced than I remember the last time. I like it, sounds nice. The arrangement is simple but gets the job done. Sounds are good quality, nothing lofi or fake sounding. The key changes at 1:25, 2:40 and 3:44 still don't sit well with me. In each case it feels that you change a beat too soon and there's some clashing. Other than that, not sure I can come up with any reasons why it wouldn't pass the panel.

Refresh my memory, where does this track play in the game? I played SotN partway through like 6 months ago, but I forgot what area this music is in.

Well you certainly chose an iconic theme. Tough act to follow. Right off the bat I noticed that the guitar part kinda sticks out. I think if it was doubletrack and panned out it would sound better. Drums are pretty weak. Snare sounds like someone tapping on a door. Not sure if there is a bass guitar? The orchestral layers are overwhelming the rock parts. Nice guitar solo. At first I thought it was too close to the original, but you mixed it up later. So yeah, I think it has promise but you need to add balls to the rock aspect.
