  1. Yeah, pretty much this is one of the best things that's happened to me as well. It's really hard to list everything that has happened, as well as all the things that wouldn't have happened, had I not let OCR become a part of my life. If I ramble, forgiv-a-ness pleez! First, it showed me that all of the dorky tendancies I have are more than just mutually shared by a huge community: they are mutually embraced and loved. Video games are art, as well as the music for them, and these remixes which are both numerous and in high quality are a perfect complement to that art. A huge amount of free music available is a good start for the way OCR has changed my life. Its made me grow immesurably as a musician, with a quality standard that I needed to get myself up to and people to help reach that. Its shown me new ideas and styles to attempt, and just overall increased my skillset in every area of making music. Its given me the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most incredible musicians I've had the pleasure of knowing and listening to. With the meetups, I also get a chance to put name-to-face and possibly jam out with them in person. Its also given me the chance and inspiration to give songs and games I love justice with remixing projects, meeting and working with even more talented people. And, above all else, OCR has become like a family. Some of my best friends I've met through OCR, and I've had the pleasure of witnessing people fall in love through the community, have kids, and reach other major accomplishments. We all joke around but still support each other, and as corny as it may sound, I'm a better person overall because of being involved in this community. Gushing finished, I'll go get a towel to help clean it up.
  2. So many projects, so little time. Prophet, can you get on AIM once in a while or would it be easier for me to just contact you the way I always do? We got some remix and project gameplans to lay out.
  3. Also, if you go to the MAGfest website (http://magfest.org/), they have a list of carpools and room-sharing. I know a few people that post on here have postings on there, but I'm not sure if they are near you. I think you can post a "need ride" there. And you'd be surprised how much most people are willing to share within reason.
  4. I can't attest to this enough. You may not get your favorites on board, but when new people come forward and totally blow away all expectations you had for what the new talent flow slowly trickling into OCR can do, I'd say that's just as good if not better. I personally have no preference between veteran and "fresh meat", as long as the quality is there I'm all for it! I'll be listening to the soundtrack while working today, hopefully.
  5. I just want you to know, schwatzy, that thanks to this thread I basically re-started Crimson Butterfly when I finished my music-making for the day. Yeah...great games...
  6. What's scary is that you were sent one of the greatest survival-horror games that's literally brimming with eerie atmosphere in the mail...for free...with no return address. It really is shitting-pants scary. It's a game where you feel every battle you have you're going die in, and you're so helpless because your only weapon is a FREAKING CAMERA! A camera that does more damage the closer the ghost gets to you, and the closer it gets the scarier it looks! AH! I both want to and don't want to play it again right now.
  7. I'm not 100%, but I believe last night, at 19 entries, the compo had the highest number of entries EVAR! Now we just need more points...points and cowbell.
  8. I just wanted to let you know, that as this project is (hopefully) nearing its conclusion sometime in the next year, that I love you all, and want all your babies. That is all.
  9. So, did you get that THANG I sent ya? We've been talking about THANGS a lot lately!

  10. My massive hate for you knows no bounds. So I played some Soul Calibur, some Power Stone, and some MVC2 yesterday. I know everyone made a big deal about Shenmue but, while I respect all it introduced and how massive of a scale the game was at the time, I got bored in the first fifteen minutes the first time I played and never touched the discs again.
  11. Welcome! Hope you enjoy OCRemix. Moncheese makes me think of munchies which makes me hungry, so now it's your fault that I'm hungry. Heh Hi Yasha, and don't worry too much about Off-Topic. Hope you enjoy OCRemix and if I need any photoshopping, I have another person to look to now.
  12. Don't beat me up or anything, but if/when they get harder to find, which they eventually will, or if it starts to break (it's well-known that people who made improper burns that had excessive laser seeking wore out the laser in almost no time, causing many games to stop working), the emulation area for Dreamcast is becoming quite mature.
  13. That trouble-maker moved out two months ago. Our place is calm and quiet now.
  14. And yet, the listening party was a blast, everyone had completely acceptable manners and nobody looked left out. That night was the first time I talked to quite a few of the people there, let alone met in person (I had met Jose, Bahamut, LionTamer, Moguta, and a few others previously, but many I was hanging in-person with for the first time). Nobody stole anything, nothing was trashed at all. In fact, the worst thing that happened was the crap that my drunk roommate did when he came home. Now, if the person you live with causes a bigger problem than any of those so-called "strangers", then you know your trust has been put in the right place. I could always be proven wrong eventually, though, but I'd never let one bad apple, if they appeared, spoil the rest. Nice contribution, Kizyr hope to have you over again soon, too!
  15. My first attempt at a remix, back in the days of VGMix2. I believe only one person besides myself knows what my original remixer name was (and they're going to keep their mouths shut!), but I submitted one song so god-awful that I couldn't bear continuing that name. So I did Level 99 instead, and have never looked back. I still have that song, and will have it on a flash drive in a save deposit box somewhere so that, whenever I die, people will know the horrifying truth! Oh, and also my first girlfriend, my first band, attempting a degree in philosophy before switching over to computers...there's a lot I can think of.
  16. Didn't Michael Jackson have something to do with them? Oh, internet rumors, how they entertain me! Regardless of the individual track credits, S3&K had some kickass music. Period. Just broadly say "get those guys and/or gals that did that one" and we'll call it a day. And was I the only one simultaneously annoyed with the Sonic R tracks yet I couldn't get them out of my head? Right, like anyone else besides me has played Sonic R AND will openly admit that.
  17. Lo, for behold, in 6 years time, we shall celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Virtual Boy's release. Bow before it's red-and-black-ness! ---- While I will not contend that many things look better through the rose-tinted lenses of nostalgia, DC introduced a great many things that we do take for granted, and while every system has crap games, the true gems will always shine through regardless of the console (I'm still holding my breath for a wii killer-app though). This was also in the dwindling days of the bit-wars, and I personally see it as a shift from gameplay-to-graphics focused games. Despite possibly not fully living up to the hype created for it, the PS2 did usher in an era of cinematic-style gaming, even when technical specs didn't allow the illusion of "OH CRAP ARE WE PLAYING FOOTBALL OR WATCHING A LIVE GAME" as we do these days. Dreamcast was also absolutely able to deliver visuals on par with much of what the PS2 had to offer. Dreamcast was first, but things like controller design and a lack of DVD definitely sang it to an early grave. Poor decisions that Sega made, and they definitely paid for it in the end. Sony made poor decisions with the PS2 as well, like a lack of built-in internet, and Nintendo wasn't exempt either, but in my opinion the sheer amount of things Sega did RIGHT with the Dreamcast influenced gaming as we know it today. So, while for some it was no big deal, for others, remembering the Dreamcast today is our way of paying respect for hours of gaming goodness and showing our appreciation for continued innovation, even from the underdogs who leave. Edit: Also, I despise most fanboys. Someone should make a list of "you know you're a fanboy if" jokes. Edit-Edit: Furthermore, The Damned, do you think any Sega fans WANT to move on from Dreamcast's glory days? What have they done since that really tops that? Sega, for many, represents a console-and-game maker, not just a game maker (or rather, not just a crummy game maker). It's the same reason Sega still makes those "collections" of old games, just like Atari...and Namco...and Taito...and Midway...
  18. but NO MENTION OF THE DREAMCAST! this is an OUTRAGE! They mentioned beatles: rock band and the end of the world but neglected sega! I'm actually not angry, I just find it amusing. Yeah, what he said.
  19. I'll have comments about your WIP real real soon, I swear! I've been overwhelmed by stuff and haven't had the chance to thoroughly disect it, heh.

  20. You made me cry, you jerk. And I was gonna jam out with you at Taucer's too! Well, you can just FORGET IT! :(

What kind of guitar do you normally play, anyways?

  21. GET A HAIRCUT!

Nah, you don't really need to.

  22. I'm sorry to say but...how many times are we going to say this about Sonic games, or game sequels in general? In Sonic's case I am saying "fool me fifteen times, shame on you; fool me sixteen times, shame on me." It'll be a 2d side-scrolling game about blazing-fast speed where you actually play as Amy Rose constantly stalking Sonic.
  23. I still have my original MvC2 dreamcast disc...take you for a ride, indeed...
  24. If you're refering to my post about dTunes, I believe it's possible, since there is a way to do a jailbreak-type thing on the iPod Touch, but I have never done it myself before. If you're able to get cydia on the iPod touch, you can probably get those two programs. Since there's no built-in access to data without WiFi though, you obviously will have to be connected to wireless internet in order to get stuff. It will let you bypass iTunes though, which is always a plus.
  25. All hail Darke, master of spelling-corrections. See here: http://www.gamesradar.com/f/the-rise-fall-and-deafening-crash-of-sonic-the-hedgehog/a-2008040815587501088 While the Dimps-created stuff was very true to the original appeal of Sonic's style, even if the new game is a return to roots or a reboot of some kind that flawlessly captures why Sonic was loved in the first place, I probably wont be interested in it. Sonic Adventure 2 was pretty good, but the run-right-grab-rings-beat-boss-at-end-of-second-or-third-level of a return to roots probably wouldn't entertain me for too long anymore. Sega should let the blazing-blue-furball rest with whatever dignity he has left. What we all know is the moment nobody cares about a new Sonic game, and the world has given up hope so much that nobody plays it, that by Murphy's Law that will have been the one game that showed Sonic still had greatness in him. I hate Murphy's Law.
