  1. The gama release from the ronin collective is wonderful, I recommend it to anyone who likes electronic in general. There are many styles on it, and everyone will find something he likes. Also, yeah, Byte-smasher's "All night long" is absolutely unenjoyable, but whatever, hehe. On another note: I'd like to mention Cold Storage's homepage (click). For those who don't know him, back in the 90's, he made quite a few songs for Psygnosis games like Wipeout, Krazy Ivan etc. All those songs can be downloaded from his site, and they're really worth it.
  2. Well, if your song came in at 9th place, I need to download the whole pack, because there has to be some incredible stuff in there. Of course, that means I really your song. It evokes some kind of cyberpunk-ish mood in me, or, to say it like I did before, I think of Shadowrun when I hear this song. And that is always a very good thing.
  3. Yes, definitely psycho. The sounds used in this remix are weird, but interesting. The kind-of breakdown starting at 1:21 could have been a little slower, a little more chilled in my opinion, while the second faster part, which leads to almost the end, should have been a little harder and faster. It's basically the same as the first time it's around, and that's a shame, because the sounds have much potential for a completely ridiculous crescendo to a mindblasting climax. Nice outro, btw.
  4. Very chilled, very soothing song. The vocals didn't really catch my attention when I listened to it the first time, but after some reruns, they've really grown on me. I don't know what it is, nor can I describe it properly, but they sound very soft, and again, very soothing. Really pleasant. So yeah, good song, and I hope to hear more.
  5. Very nice. I dig this style of music, and what's even more important is that this song is very catchy. And just like it was said before, the lyrics fit very well. Good job with the vocals, too; they sound awesome.
  6. I concur. Me personally, I don't care whether a thread has 10 or 100 posts; if I think it's interesting, I'll read it. The different envelopes just look strange to me.
  7. I wondered about this, too. LAOS: this issue has been addressed before by Mustin. No mod for vB which changes "Last page" to numbers has been found yet.
  8. I, for one, love the intro, but that's maybe because I'm into old wild west movies and the likes. The detuned piano and the crackling sounds in the background are simply wonderful, and the change into a cleaner piano was executed very well. As for the song itself, it's a nice one, and I enjoy listening to it, but it is not exactly what I look for in an orchestral arrangement. I want power, energy, and other things which are linked to these kinds of emotions but I cannot come up with right now. Nonetheless, I like this song. And just because I want to repeat it, I'll do so: the intro is gold. Pure and awesome win.
  9. The production on this one is simply amazing; it sounds awesome. Despite being quite long, this arrangement never gets boring. There are fast parts, slow ones, powerful ones, quiet ones...lots of variation going on in here. If I had to pick a favourite part, I'd say it's the crescendo beginning at 5:01. The energy in there is simply amazing.
  10. This remix really differs from what this site usually sees when it comes to Final Fantasy songs. Instead of going for guitar work or an orchestral arrangement, we get some machine madness, and it is wonderful. Very intersting to listen to, and very unique.
  11. Thanks to some of the sounds you used, this really does sound like a horror movie (-game for an old console). Nice work.
  12. Very soothing piece of work. I especially dig the piano in this one. The whole atmosphere makes me think of a deep forest, a place where no human being has ever been before. Very laid back. Good work.
  13. When I listened to it the first time, I didn't really like it. Which is why I always give a mix several chances, and this time, it really paid off. This song sounds like something you would hear somewhere in the Andes mountains, in some long forgotten ruin of an ancient temple. Very thick atmosphere; I especially dig the flute. The ending, however, was a bit lame; it just faded out, and it did so too fast. Though I have to admit that I have no better idea... I dig this. I really do.
  14. The beginning, i.e. everything up to 2:38 does not catch my attention. It works as some kind of background music / movie score, but it doesn't enthral me. This changes once the song really "starts" at 2:38. It's still very movie score-ish (as many posters before me have pointed out), but it's more interesting than before. All in all, I say "nice work".
  15. This is an interesting song, but I think it strays a little too far from the original.
  16. I enjoyed the first book of the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri series. And since it features the Spartans, you could call it military SciFi...
  17. I, for one, do enjoy this song. The drums in the beginning as well as the bells are wonderful. Very interesting section starting at 3:37; I dig the "spooky" sound in the background. The tune overall is really groovy, a feel-good song.
  18. Hmmm, I don't know the original tune. But damn, I can understand why it stuck in your head; your chiptune has the same quality...
  19. Everything Nineko says is spot on. I can't believe this song (from 2002 IIRC) has this few reviews. This is one of my all-time favourite remixes on OCR, from one of my favourite games of all times. Listenting to this makes me remember the good old days, and I feel like 12 again. And seriously, we need more Happy Hardcore in here.
  20. Stages of me listening to this song: Beginning - "Hmm, nice drums" 0:10 - "'Kay, nice guitar" 0:30 - "Okay, nothing special here." 1:07 - "Yeah, pretty much standard" 1:45 - "More of the same." 2:20 - "Is this going anywhere?" 2:40 - "Wait, what's that?!?" 3:03 - "HOLY FUCKING CRAP, THIS IS AMAZING!!!" So yeah, there you have it. Latin Jazz? Hell yeah. Nice work housethegrate, keep them remixes coming.
  21. It's hard, and it's fast-paced. What more could I ask for? Nice work. Seriously, we need more fast metal. There's one thing that sounds a little strange to me, and that's the guitar playing at 1:27 (as well as 2:51) and the following two or three seconds; it's just...weird IMHO.
  22. The piano sample isn't that bad; but the sample of the instrument coming in at 1:07 irks me a bit; maybe because it's too loud. Just like Audity, I don't think this needs percussion. The part starting at 2:15 sounds good as it is. Also, just as mentioned before, the piano solo after the mix has "ended" sounds nice.
  23. At first, I thought that this song could use more variation. But now, I think it's just perfect. The repetition of the guitar chord makes the song very catchy; it's stays in my head the whole day. The piano part is wonderful, too. Makes me want to chill to Ridge Racer Type 4 again. Digging the drums from 2:38 on, too. After Knuckleduster, this is the second incredibly catchy tune to come to OCR in a short time. Wonderful song.
  24. Nice beat kicking in at 0:38. But a little too slow for my tastes (or too fast, if I look at it as some kind of chill out music).
