O, a Wii game for my Wii that I'm finally interested in. (Well, I never bought this Wii, so I wasn't really a fan of it in the first place)

lol L4D3. Shit will hit the fan. I don't know whether it HL3 or HL2:EP3 would be better. EP3 would be cheaper, but HL3 could be an improvement on the series as a whole (as if that's needed). Anyway; excited about Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and The Last Guardian. Also curious about Golden Sun, because I loved 1&2, but I'm at a dilemma because I really dislike the DS.

*SPOILERS sort of* The second half was quite different from the first half, but I enjoyed the rollercoaster ride it gave us. Not to mention the drastic change in character that occurred in the main character - that was awesome. I mean, seriously, who even liked Wikus(sp?) in the beginning of the movie? But at the end of the movie, you at least sympathise with him, and what he went through. A theory I've heard is that the ship is a prison ship, which is why most of the aliens are quite 'skill-less' in terms of running the ship etc. Christopher on the other hand is one of the only crew left alive on the ship, which is why he knows how to run it. Seems plausible enough. But yeah, I like how the back-story isn't spoon fed to us. District 9 is a great sci-fi flick.

May I ask what phone you're using that can run GB emulators? I'm really curious.

I bought Torchlight when it was $20. Oh well, it was still mighty worth it. In the sale I've only gotten Defense Grid, and recently just bought Lumines for the girlfriend. Still waiting on better sales, but, I love when Christmas comes around @ Steam. Last year I bought CoH, which is an example of a game I would never normally purchase.

All I'll say is: thank you very, very much for the pleasure of listening to such a stunning rendition of "Decisive Battle" from the fantastic Final Fantasy 6. If I'm to hear more from you again, then I'll count myself doubly lucky. Awesome arrangement and performance.

Just came home with the Collector's Edition, wooooooooo HOOOOOOOOOOO. Came with the tin case and all. I paid a MASSIVE premium for it though ($120 AUD, which is equivalent to.. $108 USD at the moment) but there was nowhere else to get it. Nonetheless, I just bought it as a treat to myself. And thankfully, the collector's tin case is pretty damn worth it. Much better than having a crappy plastic box, and for a game as epic as DA:O (hopefully) will be, then I think it will be a purchase well worth it. The cloth map is pretty cool too, and it's even better than Baldur's Gate II's cloth map (albeit smaller). Anyway, won't be lucky enough to be able to play it until next thursday T_T, because of exam's and all. Oh well, it will be an agonizing wait. And well, Borderlands, tbh I really don't see what all the hype is. It's just a grindy-type FPS with guns. And RPG elements. And no storyline. Was really popular at launch, but I'm starting to hear of reports of Assassin's Creeditis, which is, well, repetitive gameplay. But it has multiplayer... but I think even L4D2 would be better for multiplayer co-op. Considering DA:O's reviews: "Best RPG of the decade" etc, if it's remotely close to as good as Baldur's Gate II, then hell, it's worth buying imo.

What the f***? P2P is the backward solution, and I'll be damned as to why it's the staple of console gaming. There is a reason why dedicated servers existed, a decade ago, for games like Quake and CS. Because they were better. It's not rocket science - dedicated servers offer better pings, and therefore, better quality of gaming. A dedicated server can naturally offer better conncetions for all players, not just the host. Furthermore, dedicated servers aren't hosted under the whim of one player, who, at any given moment, could /ragequit the game and/or boot you for no good measure. Sure, server admins could possibly do this as well, but, rarely does this occur. Even if it does occur, you can simply avoid that server and choose to go on another server. Can you choose which host to connect to with matchmaking? Probably not. Just because console gamers have never had to face the impossibly-demanding aspect of choice, doesn't mean that PC gamers should be brought down to their level and be forced to adapt such backward concepts. Seriously. Anyone with half a brain, and who isn't ignorant, would be able to figure out that dedicated servers are a better alternative to P2P matchmaking in moderate to large scale first person shooters. Going mass-P2P is a step backward for online gaming. P2P gaming works in real time strategy games where there is rarely greater than 8 or 12 players connected per game. In first person shooters however, it is a completely different story. This blog here by PCGamer clearly outlines the implications of such a move by IW. It's not that hard to understand. Some of the arguments that are against the PC commnity's backlash to removal of dedicated servers are downright atrocious, let alone snide and condescending. The recent GameInformer piece could not be any less ignorant, biased and useless in its lack of understanding of the issues regarding loss of dedicated servers. A poor piece of journalism at its finest. JoeFu, I feel for you, and I also (obviously) understand where you're coming from, but I'm going to save myself some sanity by probably refraining from posting in this thread further.

They update quite often and I've found quite a few interesting games I never otherwise would have discovered, such as Naumachia. Before that I used to switch between gametrailers and gamespot, simply because of lack of better alternatives. Gamespot barely has much news though anyway.

Gotta love the production values in this. It looked just like any other FF/SE game until the puzzle blocks started showing lol. Not too sure if I'm interested, but I love how most XBLA games end up being released on Steam anyway, so PC gaming ftw.

Found out about Chris Tin's new album from here, and the previews just blew me away. Best soundtrack/orchestral material I have heard in years, can't wait till my CD arrives.

Check out the demo I guess. I saw it on sale once, tried the demo, but it didn't do it for me. Oh, I'll put up a vote for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (spiritual successor to TA), if you have the computer to run it. It's got a very popular and well-done AI mod for it (the creator of the AI mod actually ended up being hired by GPG themselves!). Anyway it's called Sorian AI mod, and finished at v2.0.0, probably because the creator himself had to move on to work on Supreme Commander 2 heh.

Not really your typical RTS, but I've been pretty hooked on Sins of a Solar Empire recently.

It's so weird to see a thread full of people who've never touched a single game of DotA... (probably because other forums I visit are full of Warcraft III players). Anyway, after playing DotA for several years since 5.60b, before IceFrog was even around, HoN is simply too much of a pain to have to re-learn DotA again. Stats will ruin the game IMO, and the graphics are okay, but I still prefer my less intensive Warcraft III based DotA. It's nice to see nubs jumping right into DotA, but I dunno, the game just feels so old to me, whereas everyone here seems caught up in this 'new' fad lol. I guess I don't really approve of HoN, but meh. Maybe I'll jump into DotA when it's out on SCII.

Yep, $5 for 21 day trial + 30 days including activation of trial accounts is a steal. (considering upgrading trial accounts to paid ones via CCP's website is $15 for first month + an additional $5 once off activation fee). It was so much so that I bought it again on Steam when I already had an account. I think I'll just save it for an alt sometime in the future... Just make sure you make yourself a 21 day trial first, because I think once you upgrade EVE Online Trial > EVE Online (on Steam), you lose the option to make the trial 21 day trial account, which is silly. Although, 21-day trials are easy enough to come by anyway, you could either ask anyone for a 21day buddy trial, or, you could simply just make a dud Steam account, download the EVE Trial on that, and then create a trial that way. Simple.

The movie was awesome. And I wholeheartedly agree with OP that the film was intense - that's exactly how I felt. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time - I really had no idea what to expect throughout the film - and I expected the worse, every time, which was an awesome feeling. SPOILERS TIME: Anyone else suspect there might be a sequel? Whilst a sequel would suck, I have a feeling that, if D9 is popular enough, then D10 would seem more like a logical step for them. Because, of course: 1. Spaceship leaves, and the guy at the end offers three options(?), with the last one being: the aliens come back to revenge his fellow species who had been experimented on. 2. Christopher? (well, the red alien with the son) stated in the film, that he would return to earth, in 3 years time, twice. 3. Wikus is left alive at the film, where he's seem to be fully transformed into the alien species, tending to the metallic rose.... (thinking about it now makes it seem so sad...) 4th additional point: They complete the move into D10, with 2.5 million aliens still on Earth. The whole setup is available for a sequel. At least, it wasn't too obvious though, so I'll give them that. I think the movie would be best if left as is (because, one of the major highlights of the film was the whole mysterious atmosphere regarding the aliens), and any further elaboration into the alien's plight would probably just feel 'tacked on'. I dunno. Or maybe Peter Jackson can pull his magic, considering he did that with LotR. But this ain't LotR, and Peter Jackson ain't directing. END SPOILERS It was pretty cool that Peter Jackson saw the potential in the film and gave it a helping hand from a veteran. (Or maybe he was with the film from the start? I dunno.) But yeah, cool movie, refreshing change from the movies of the past year, and it's good to see sci-fi get some loving, in a completely different manner. Well, the documentary style filming of the movie I thought was quite cool and refreshing, but probably because I haven't seen any of the other movies that have used it recently (such as Cloverfield).

Unfortunately, these were the very games that I already owned, so I gave this great Weekend deal a pass.
