  1. Hope no-one kills me for posting up a link to everyone's hated website (gfaqs) BUT there's a rather detailed and succinct version of what's happened in the past two months regarding two of the game's largest corporations: BoB and the infamous Goonswarm. It's war, and it's in a game, and it's a tantalising read. THIS is what makes me so interested in EVE: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=430571&topic=48653011
  2. !!!!! You contributed to Chrono Symphonic way back then!!! Wow! Nice to see you continue to release something as great as this. I liked your contribution (to Chrono Symphonic) enough to research more of your music (seeing as you didn't have much on OCR) and there was some nice stuff there. I'll look forward to this.
  3. http://braid-game.com/news/ So, Stardock (so far) has announced that they will be selling the game via their distribution service: Impulse (also used to sell Sins of a Solar Empire, Demigod and their Windows Blinds programs). J. Blow has announced that one or two other (as of yet unnamed) PC distributors will be selling it as well, so I'm just going to happily wait 'till Braid's finally announced on Steam (I'm hoping). It would be an awesome addition to any Steam library, and I'll be glad to finally play this game which everyone's hyped about so much.
  4. Lol same didn't even realise it was an old thread. But yeah, glad as anyone that this was bumped since I missed it the first time, checking it out now.
  5. OH MY GOSH! I just found out/realised that the composer of the music is ACTUALLY one of the two programmers for the game!?!??!! Wow!!!? I had heard that the game was produced by a mere two-man team, but I thought to myself when I was playing the game that; I wonder who those two guys could have found/hired to compose the music for the game. Because it sure as hell does sound professionally composed for the game. btw: thanks for the link.
  6. I purchased this (as well as World of Goo). I must say I'm a sucker for Steam and its sales, but hey, after playing like an hour of it during the free weekend, it hooked me in. I loved the original UT, didn't really like UT2004, and found UT3 was my cup of tea. Not to mention that I want a next-gen console but can't afford one atm, so the fact that UT3 runs silky smooth on my decent rig also cemented my purchasing of the game. I know people feel resentment towards developers developing games with consoles in mind (hence making games "consolized") I still felt that UT3 felt at home on the pc. I guess the only thing to make a sadface over is the small online population, but thankfully with the Titan pack, can help alleviate that somewhat. Although I bought UT3 mostly as a fun casual diversion with bots, it would have been cool if there was a large Australian UT3 community presence, but there isn't really one that I'm aware of. Oh well.
  7. I wonder who composed the music - but it's all in all pretty great stuff. Atmospheric and dark but still memorable. Not "I wonder what his name is" but moreso what his other credits include etc. Or what his/her background is from. Hrm.
  8. Yeah I wanted to buy this game for $20 for the girlfriend, but when I saw it was $5, I snatched it up in an instant. For anyone hesitant of losing $5 worth of McDonalds, try out the demo and then you'll know for sure that it's worth it.
  9. This update is enough to make me consider buying UT3 just to support Epic. Although seeing as I missed out on the Christmas sales, I still miss being able to buy it for the $5 I think it was back then.
  10. Patiently waits on the Killzone 2 review. Don't even know why I am, because I lost interest in Zero Punctuation many many reviews ago. Oh well.
  11. Wow I didn't expect that. Really simple, but with a song like that, it sounds great as is. Looks like you're pretty well equipped with instruments and recording equipment.
  12. Yesssssss. I had to switch back to the original white template for a short while whilst the old Dark Skin was outdated. Didn't expect an update so soon, and now, back to the original Dark Skin, woo! Hm, any chance of changing the font colour white to grey (or background colour), because when people post spoilers, they come out rather obviously lol, as happened with the recent Lost thread. Otherwise, good stuff, glad to see the update.
  13. Well... each to their own I guess. I just finished it today and loved it. I wasn't a huge fan of FF7; FF8 is my favourite, FF6 was great, and I REALLY didn't like FFX. Finished all of them. Just to show my tastes I guess. One thing I noticed was that Square's production values with in-engine cut scenes was of high calibre - there were some pretty cool in-engine fight scenes that weren't even pre-rendered FMVs.
  14. Hm, on top of the obvious ones that everyone else will mention, I'll chime in and say that the US 'remake' of DJ Max is out soon, and it's basically a combination of the two DJ Max Portables (1&2) which were really popular in Korea and Japan. If you're a fan of beat/DDR style games, it's heaps of fun on the PSP, tricky to learn, with plenty of unlockables, and has a rather good independent OST.
  15. What I was expecting at 6:04 in my aural consciousness was a crazy solo electronica run BGC styles. Now THAT would make everyone cream their pants at this song. For the third time. Otherwise, really REALLY chill and beautiful stuff.
  16. Anyone experience any sort of bugs with BG&E and Bioshock? I've heard several problems, but just wondering how OCR'ers find the games. Also, that latest PoP run well on PCs? After playing Sands of Time on PC, which I found enjoyable (albeit too short), if the new PoP was cheaper I may give it a shot.
  17. After reading so many posts mentioning SSBB, L4D, and next generation console games, I felt stumped in thinking what my most epic moments of gaming have been. After playing games now that I've been playing for years (DotA mainly), I remembered the game that had me hooked for a greater part of the year: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Having clutch bomb plants with 45 seconds to go (where a bomb takes 40 seconds to blow) on a very tough defense, and then having to wait 40 nailbiting seconds to hope that your team can defend the bomb, and then finally being rewarded with a huge "RedFusion has successfully bombed the target." is the most exhilarating and rewarding thing you can get - especially when your team cheers wildly and your opponents cry in frustration. Also, completing a map's three objectives singlehandedly, against competent teams. Hehehe.
  18. Eh? BGaE was for hardcore gamers?! That game was so easy! (and _short_.) @_@ But then again, I guess we can be glad that they ARE making a sequel. In this digital day and age, AND with a flop of a first game, it's a gamble enough to make a sequel to it.
  19. I would have thought the original PSX was moreso the console of RPGs; with FF7, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, to name the few. Well, I guess PS2 has FFX (which I didn't like), Xenosaga and Persona series (both of which I haven't played), so maybe you're right. lol wut?
  20. The instruction manual for bioshock sucks anyway. Damned new-generation games, skimping out on huge manuals. I blame consoles. Anyway: yeah the sale is awesome - I was so tempted to buy Bioshock just for my Steam account, even when I already have the physical copy of it. Personally I'm going to be getting Company of Heroes + CoH: Opposing Fronts for $22.49. I was never interested in that game, but after playing the demo and trying it out, I was hooked. I might wait a little bit in case I find something else on steam (since I have limited funds in paypal and no credit card to speak of), but I'm pretty sure I'll be snapping it up.
  21. I'll just chip in and say what my PSP can do at this very moment: It can hopefully give you an idea of what a single PSP can do, as a very versatile console. In the UMD drive: Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. Very polished and exciting espionage/action game by SCEA. On Memory Stick: Final Fantasy Crisis Core: One of the best jRPG experiences I've had in a while. FIFA 09: I'm no avid soccer fan, but it's very fun on the go. Tyrian 2000: Yes, the oldschool shooter. Works like a gem. Final Fantasy Tactics: A beautiful return to the world of Ivalice. Few hiccups with the slow-downs in spell animations, but the re-worked translation is amazing (if you liked FFXII's translation), and features great cell-shaded cut scenes as well. WipEout Pulse: Not as good as Pure (the original), but hey, Pure is available on the PSP as well. Lumines: A funky puzzle game, with a very unique design. Think PSP's twist on Tetris. GBA emulator: Works 100%. Have Advance Wars 2, Zelda Minish Cap on it and Golden Sun 2 for the nostalgia. SNES emulator: Works 100%. Have Chrono Trigger on it. Bookr: A .txt and .pdf reading utility. On the PSP's ample screen space, and bright screen, I use it quite often to read Robin Hobb's Assassin's Trilogy, 2 whole books of which I've read on the PSP. Death Note Episode 22: Anime, 'nuff said. Given the right programs, you can convert .avi's and probably other file formats, into PSP's .mp4 --- In contrast, I'll also chime in and say that, my brother had a DS, and I was never really interested in the games there. I loved my GBA, but so many of the DS exclusives I felt were a bit childish. FF3 was a basic hack and slash, Ace Attorney was too linear, Cooking Mama is a ... cooking game, and Brain Training is something I'd rather avoid at University. Notable games I could only think of are basically FF4 remake. But then PSP has Crisis Core... Granted, I had infinite amounts of fun when I had 3 other friends with DS'es, and we all played Mario Party on the long plane trips that we had when we went travelling. But heck, how often are we going to have that opportunity again!? DS will most definately be more fun if you have 2-7 other friends with DS'es, but, again, it isn't the most common occurrence. I've played 4 player Mario Kart on the DS, and also 8 player Tetris DS, but I'd still prefer my PSP overall.
  22. Oh dear. Not only is that spelling wrong, it's your accent that makes it so very wrong. =p
  23. Lol I was thinking that highlighted piece of text was a link. Silly me. And yay to more people being exposed to OCR's music!
  24. Absolutely beautiful. Hooray for another piano mix posted on OCR.
  25. I lol'ed. Especially after being warmed up by the two misdirected replies to a sarcastic post. Personally I only 'review' songs if I feel like I really love, and would like to support the artist as a fan. For songs I don't like, I don't leave them on my playlist and that's about it. All to do with personal preference. Then again, I don't review much anyway.
