  1. Admiral and Commander is great, as you've listed. It's so emotionally tied to the show, and it's such a fitting piece of music; BSG was really damn lucky to have Bear McCreary work with them on it. He did to BSG what Nobuo did to Final Fantasy. A personal favourite of mine is . It's as close to "epic" as you'll get in the BSG soundtrack, but it's also unique in its own way. No bombastic generic hollywood here, oh no.
  2. Great to see OCR get some Orchestra lovin'. Seems that DJP thought that it was time OCR had some too (with a direct post). And it's from a PC game, which is even better! And everybody loves the asian themed music. Well, at least I do. Not familiar with the source, but it was a lush and rewarding listening experience. Kudos to you Mr. Soong, and may you have more to do with OCR in the future.
  3. Now it's just time to wait for Shnab to upload it for all to see. That's, if it's worth uploading, ha ha ha. Wait, why am I being negative for
  4. Meh, all this talk of PS3 exclusives vs XBox360 exclusives really makes me sick nowadays. I'm still planning to buy a PS3 because I want Killzone 2, but, I'm just going to be peeved that I can play MGS4 on the PS3 but not MGS5 for a long time after that. And I'm buying my PS3 planning to play Metal Gear Solid games, Final Fantasies, Jak series and R&C games because that's what I expect to play on the Playstation console that I'm to buy. Now with this lame arm-wrestle between Micro$oft and Sony, games are swapping back and forth. Can't games stay with their parent console? I'm not guying to buy a PS3 expecting to bloody play Halo - I don't want Sony to buy the IP, and if I wanted to play the damn game I would buy an XBox360. Same with XBox360 owners. If they wanted to play bloody MGS games and other games that have been with Sony for ages, why not buy a damn PS3 in the first place. And don't bug me with details over the pricepoint - okay I know the PS3 is very expensive, but if you're dying to play certain games on it, then you'll just have to fork a bit more for it. Now, I don't even want an XBox360, because I can play all their "exclusive" games on my PC (was Bioshock at first, Mass Effect, and Oblivion which eventually got ported to PS3). But what Microsoft seems to be damn doing is forcing gamers to buy THEIR damn console just so that we're forced to buy their stupid console just to play the exclusives on it. Blaghg. The whole thing makes me mad. Now, I'm not ranting at anyone who owns either a PS3 or an XBox (we all hate fanboys etc); I just hate the way that it's all carried out - this whole exclusivity thing. It was fine when Nintendo was known to have the Mario games, Playstation to have the Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasies, and now that there's a third party on the scene, shit has hit the ceiling to a ridiculous extent. -- And lastly, sorry for kind of derailing the thread, but the heart of my argument still lies with the whole XBox360 over PS3, that's gone through in the articles etc etc yada yada. I read the articles quite a bit but this is what I came up with.
  5. I noticed that you guys have IskatuMesk on board - sounds like this project has quite capable hands behind it. Unforunately I'm too noob to notice any other names on your team. Well, all the best, Starcraft music isn't really covered amongst the OCR community, but hopefully someone will be willing.
  6. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check it out just to see how well a fan-made attempt at LotR turns out. If it's anything as good as something like indie calibre, then I'll be mighty happy to have known about this film.PS: No replies, no interest? >_>
  7. I think you're only allowed to gift HL2 and EP1 (if you already have them on your steam account).
  8. Wow, my jaw literally dropped when I saw a Sins of a Solar Empire mix posted on these forums. It's not often that we see PC games get coverage at OCR, let alone recent PC games. Really digging the mix. I must admit I'm finding it hard to remember the original source music (been a while since I've played Sins), but the atmosphere is great throughout. Reminds me a funky fusion of Sins and the Perfect Dark soundtrack. Again, was pleased to see coverage of this game. Great work.
  9. It does... that's how I've purchased the 20 or so odd games I have on my Steam account.
  10. There's probably no better way to start up a Steam account. The deal's a bargain. Any one of those games for $10 is a Steal, but ALL FIVE of them!? The sucky thing is that I bought Orange Box for $20 AUD from some budget cd-keys website, and now VALVe comes out with this, heh. Well, $20 was still a steal, so I can't complain. And this was so worth making a new thread about it.
  11. Well seeing as I loved what they managed to pull off with Crisis Core, I guess that could work. And this is considering that I wasn't even a huge fan of FF7. Oh, the thought of playing not one but two epic Final Fantasies in a row would be exhilarating.
  12. (For steam version:) Yeah, just right click Braid on Steam game list and click properties, then press 'Set launch options' and type -editor, and press F11 in the game, you'll get the editor. J.Blow says he'll release official documentation for using the editor later. For non-steam versions I'd assume you'd just make a shortcut to the game and add -editor at the end of the file path e.g. "C:\Program Files\Braid.exe" -editor Not sure if a really old PC would load the game. It had a bit of slowdown on my gf's laptop and that probably had a 2.0ghz processor. You'd just have to check out the demo I guess.
  13. Awesome trailer. I'm still confused as to why they call each of the games "Final Fantasy XIII" even though the games don't even share the same universe, but rather, themes and whatnot.
  14. My bad. Yeah I noticed that what I said is quite different from what you said lol but I only noticed afterwards and cbf'ed changing what I wrote. And now you've cleared it up so yeaaaaa.
  15. I think I have to agree.. I felt like the puzzles, well the more challenging ones, were a chore. Maybe it was because I was rushing to find out what was the whole big deal about the ending... but still. All in all though I loved the art style and the music. The gameplay was unique, I give it that, but, I just found it frustrating and un-enjoyable. When I completed a particularly devious puzzle I didn't get a sensation of 'reward', but more a feeling of "Ok wtf, damn I'm glad I don't have to figure that out again". And before anyone bugs me for being an action gamer, I'll say that some of my favourite childhood memories are with Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island and Sam & Max. I guess all the hard work for the ending kind of paid off... (SPOILER)the initial twist was great (even though I pretty much saw it coming), the way it was delivered was good. (END SPOILER) (MORE SPOILER)Although, I have to agree DjSammyG's feeling that it was a bad metaphor. Meh. (END SPOILER)
  16. Well... his music does share some similarities across his games and works. Just listening to his Oblivion soundtrack, Guild Wars soundtrack and even his Terra ReMix you can notice a certain flavour to the music, due to his samples and the way he uses them.
  17. OMG ! YOU CAN HEAR THE BSG-ESQUE ELEMENTS IN THE MAIN TITLE! I WANT! Bear's music is win. And I thought Jeremy Soule was a legend for having his own distinct musical flavour. Bear is that and so much more. Let's see how it fares with a game soundtrack for once, but, I don't think I'll be disapointed. Does anyone know if the Sarah Connor Chronicles has a good/notable soundtrack? Never had the pleasure of listening to it.
  18. Talk about indecisive. And I heard that another developer is tackling Bioshock 2 (not the original 2K offices) - with 2K Marin involved with the sequel. I wonder how this will reflect on the final product.
  19. Err, double post? Well I kinda had to bump this thread to post this: Braid is finally available on PC! Been waiting a long while for this, and I'm really glad that PC users were also able to experience this gem. Here's the news post: http://braid-game.com/news/ And it's available at Steam, Impulse, GamersGate and Greenhouse, with a demo available at Greenhouse.
  20. Sorry what was Sea of Dreams? Was it the proposed sequel to Bioshock? After I forced myself to finish the first Bioshock (well, I rushed to the twist of the game so it wouldn't be spoilt for me, then dropped it for like 2 years until I finally went back to it), I'm not too excited about dropping yet another $80 AUD for this one, when it'll just feel like a "large" expansion pack. (What I mean is no new engine, same/similar UI etc etc. But meh, that's how they do sequels on consoles nowadays)
  21. All the best, hope to see this on the front page of OCR once day. =]
  22. Giving EVE some bumpage love. Just in case no-ones seen these before (most likely you haven't anyway), there's some REALLY BRILLIANT trailers/short movies out there depicting in-game events and gameplay, by some talented filmmakers. Without further ado, here are the youtube links: Day of Darkness II: (released 30th March 2009) by Dirth Lauthris. Tortuga - Lacrimosa by Dirth Lauthris. EVE Trailer - War has come to EVE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub0YaZoTvfI by Kyoko Sakoda ----- The production values are brilliant - I'll let the videos speak for themselves. Each youtube video is available in HD format, but within the descriptions are links to High Definition 720p links which are also highly recommended.
  23. Norton 2009 heavily markets the fact that it takes up MUCH less system resources than its predecessors. Which is a good thing. http://www.takethenortonchallenge.com/ Hate to link to a site that's essentially advertising... but maybe this can give you a rough idea about the antiviruses. Personally I use the latest Norton Internet Security (and before this I had the 2008(?) version). It does take up less system resouces, so that's a good thing I guess. Also, with the old Norton, whenever I double clicked the icon in the system tray to open it, it would take up to 10 seconds to fully load. Now, if I double click Norton shortcut in the system tray, it loads instantly. So I believe it's optimized a bit. Nonetheless, I have had a few annoyances with it - it seems to wait until your computer is "idle" (default 10 minutes of low computer activity), it starts running ALL KINDS of background tests, from quick scans, to full idle system scans. I've only had one problem with it running a scan whilst I was in the middle of something, because my computer was achingly slow. Since then I've set the "idle" wait period to 30 minutes (the maximum). In the past I've had Micafee, but I didn't like it much. Mostly because of the fact that when the subscription ran out, it had a VERY INTRUSIVE POPUP notification about this. Even when my Norton 2008 subscription ran out, it only popped up once a day. Another thing; I've heard Kaspersky is a stronger antivirus than Norton... but heck, the best antivirus is common sense IMO. The only reason why I have Norton is because my dad purchases a 3-user package, so I just install it on my computer for peace of mind. Even without the antivirus I doubt I would have had many problems anyway.
  24. This has gotta be one of the most anticipated potential OC ReMixes ever?
