  1. I'm sure you'll be one someday. Hahaha.
  2. Yeah, dude! That's some good practice right there. If you can learn to play Stratovarius' instrumental songs perfectly, then it means that your alternate picking is practically perfect. I'm just barely starting to be able to pull off Stratosphere, but there are still others to master, too. (like Stratofortress!!!) As for Rhapsody, if you can master some of Luca Turili's solos it'll be some really impressive sweep picking action. Unfortunately, I don't have a book of that and I can't figure out a sweep picking solo by ear because they're just so dang fast. Good luck to the both of us eh!
  3. Thanks a lot for inviting me to your party. I think it's sweet that you went out of your way and thought of your good friend, CHIPP Damage even though he lives ONE-HUNDRED BILLION KAJILLION MILES AWAY! Hahaha. But seriously though, I would love the chance to hang out with other OCR people. Unfortunately, I never get the chance because I live in Japan and I'm a poor bastard. But I'm thinking that you'll definitely have a great time. Wish I could come out and meet you. Maybe next time.
  4. Zircon! You got out of the hospital! Do you feel better now? Are you gonna heal up perfectly? I hope so.
  5. Wow. I didn't think anyone around here would have metal comments to make. Indeed it's hard to say what the first metal was like, but basically I don't care for many American metal bands, but European ones. And in that realm you can find TONS of classical music oriented metal bands. For example good ol' Stratovarius or Rhapsody. I highly recommend those two bands, by the way. I'm still working my hardest trying to get either of my TWO metal bands out here in Japan into live mode, but I just keep running into all kinds of ups and downs with trying to find the right members. Ugh!
  6. Ok, Smoke-man! I just sent you a signature for the Zircard. Thanks a lot for this great idea. I hope I'm not too late. It's already 6:30pm, Friday night here in Japan. I really hope he gets better soon. Nothing bums me out more than sickness.
  7. I already graduated a few years ago, but I was a music major. I like the Death Metal so originally I wanted to be a guitar major. Of course the only genres they're gonna teach you at college are Classical and Jazz (At least at my school, anyway.). So naturally, the more relative genre is classical guitar, but they had a problem with teaching me about classical guitar and letting me practice it on my electric guitar. I told them that I really wanted to take classical guitar and they were like, "But you don't have a classical guitar, so you can't. You have an electric guitar so you have to take Jazz." I was pretty annoyed but I went ahead and studied Jazz for two years and then decided that it was not helping get better at metal, so I quit that and switched to composition instead of guitar. I had to take some piano lessons thanks to that. Hahaha. Anyway...Long story short... I was a music composition major in college.
  8. Is there still help being wanted and if so what bosses are you waiting to have claimed or can we decide our own and do you want that help to come from me? I just asked like four questions in a single sentence! Let me know what's up please.
  9. Hi. My name is Jahan. I'm from Niigata, Japan. I've been working on my own original style of hip hop. I perform my hip hop on stage out here under the name The La Li Lu Le Lo. I've written 4 songs so far and two of them are on my website. http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/Music/Music.html Scroll down to The La Li Lu Le Lo section and listen to Snake Over, which is an original with lyrics and music both inspired by Metal Gear, and The Legend of a Brother, a remix of the Beverly Hills Cop theme song done with original lyrics. I think you'll get a laugh out of both of them. Reply to this message and/or show your friends if you like them. Thanks for your time. Jahan
  10. Well, I didn't read ALL of the posts, but I'll throw in my two cents. Like many others, I just wish that the refusal of termination line would be cut out. If a remixer doesn't want his or his remix on the site any more than so be it. They should be able to have it removed. Having said that, I don't really see why we need to worry about this whole contract thing in the first place. It seems like the simplest way would be to say that by submitting a remix to OCR, you are giving OCR the right to post it only on Overclocked Remix and do nothing more with it there after. Then whenever someone asks to remove a remix from the site, they remove it for us. And whenever OCR guys wanna do something more with the remix, they ask the remixer. If they can't get in touch with the remixer, they don't use it. Anyway, it probably going to be criticized as being "way too simple for something so important." But that's how I like it, I guess. So I'm going to go ahead and oppose the current draft.
  11. Two great things combined to make one even greater thing. I dig this. Cake is one of my favorite foods and playing games is one of my favorite past times. I gotta say, that NES wedding cake was genius. With the exception of the blob-like shape, it's freaking realistic!
  12. If you're interested, I've put a bunch of my original music on my humble website. Check it out if you'd like. http://chipp_damage.sitesled.com/ Right now, it's all metal, but I plan on uploading the hip hop stuff I've been working on too. Maybe I'll put up my old school electronic music that I've done so far too if someone writes on the message board that they'd like to see it. If you like anything you hear I'd love your opinions on the site's message board. More music will slowly but surely make it's way there.
  13. I agree that Einhander is cool. I don't really see anything wrong with sticking to just one series. There's a lot of good that can come out of concentrating on just one thing for a long time. Just look at Armored Core Hahaha. However, Square-Enix, being the huge company that it is definitely has more than enough human resources to allocate some to other projects. I really wanted to go to that party but I live in Niigata and the party is in Tokyo. Curse Square-Enix forever!
  14. Holy crap, Avaris! That's like all the games I would have said too! hahaha. I agree with Zeratul as well. Alundra needs more love. In fact I think that's one of your best choices since the amount of music is a lot smaller than a lot of those other RPGs.
  15. It's about time we got a little more death deathitty death death up in the house. I used to be a member of a on of the most brutal grindcore bands around and it was so fun! This sounds really interesting yo. Hahaha.
  16. I'm a big fan of this song too. I don't know man. Is this the entire remix or the work-in-progress? I assume it's still in progress since it only covers the intro of the song. I'd like to think that anything that sticks this closely to the source would be enjoyable for me, but to be honest, I don't care for the type of sounds you chose to cover this with. If you want to use these sounds in a Tyranno Lair remix, then I would suggest changing up the melody a bit. Right now this is basically the exact same thing as the original but with different instruments and slower. Try altering a few pitches to throw it into a different kind of key or... something. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what the best course of action is, but I think the result you want is to rearrange that Tyranno theme with these sounds you've got so that it sounds like something that was written originally for the genre you're trying to put it in as opposed to a cover with different sounds, but at the same time make the listener say, "Oh yeah, I can hear the Tyranno Lair music in this." I hope that wasn't too complex. I wanna hear more after you've worked on it further.
  17. Hey man, you ought to put up a file of the source tune too. I'd really like to hear the original so I can compare it to what you're doing with it. Good luck with it man.
  18. Hey man. I think you have some good ideas in your quick little samples there. You should go ahead and expand them out real deep-like and see what you come up with. I can probably only give you advice on the arrangement side of things. I don't really know about how to get realistic sounding samples. I can tell you one thing though, that acoustic guitar-esque thing in that one remix of yours does sound really strange. I hope you can become an OC Remixer too.
  19. A well-timed topic as I had only decided about 2 weeks ago that my all-time favorite soundtrack to ANY game is Star Ocean 3's. Motoi Sakuraba has been kicking my ass ever since Star Ocean 2. When the 3rd one came out I heard that and it was just like the second Star Ocean soundtrack for me in the way that it had tons of freaking good music and a small handfull of tracks that just totally blow me away. I don't know, it's something about his crazy, keyboard-filled modern rock dungeon music combined with freaking dramatic town themes that just has my number. Plus there are his sweet hip hoppy and heavy metally tracks that come out once in a while. I think I've explained myself enough. I hope it generates some conversation.
  20. I got married to my freaking most perfect woman. Everyday it's just totally sick lovey-dovey gag reflex-inducing interaction. I don't know how two people get so lucky! Maybe it's not my place to say, but I don't see the harm it can do so I'll let you know that James George is married too.
  21. I've got to agree with you. Although, to be honest, I'm not really into Metallica OR Megadeth. I've never heard Gears of War or Washington is Next but, in my case, ever since I found out what Europe has to offer, I've never wanted to listen to a Metallica song. Even Master of Puppets and stuff isn't all that interesting to me anymore. Without a doubt, the standards for everything are changing these days and metal is no exception.
  22. Hey man. Unfortunately I don't have any sweet Tales guitar samples for you, but if you want, I'd always be ready record whatever you've written with real guitar playing. I specialize in metal. I can play rock and punk too. I'm not too good at jazz. You can come to me to fulfill your metal/rock needs anytime yo. You can send me a message here on OCR if you decide that you want to request something.
  23. This ought to be it. Tell me what you think. It's a collaboration this time. arrangement by me and production by James George. Please tell us what you think. http://www.jamesgeorgemusicandsound.com/files/destroy_movements.mp3
  24. Ok. I've been using Sonar for a while now, but here's a noob question. What is the difference between a "synth" and a "soundfont"? I've been using DXI synths until now. To use them I install them and then I can "insert" them as a track in Sonar. I really want to check out some of Darkesword's soundfonts, but I'm not sure how to use them. I downloaded a woodwind one and then used the compressor to inflate it (that sounds all backwards) which resulted in the creation of an SF2 file. Can anyone tell me how to get that file to make sound in Sonar? Thanks for the help.
