  1. Letting everyone know that it is here now! Play or listen to some music
  2. I'll take one of the soldier ones each
  3. Oh hey: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02323/
  4. Nobody else said it? Happy birthday!
  5. A lot of OCR probably will be busy recovering from MAGFest heh.
  6. I think it's actually possible to retain a lot of the feel even with trance, but that's up to the artist. bLiNd did a surprising job with his Lufia 2 tracks with sources you wouldn't expect to work well getting converted to electronic. I'll reserve judgment until the track is underway, but sometimes you can get some unique interpretations that add something strong in a way you don't expect with arrangements in different styles than you'd prefer. In fact, I'll go as far as argue that that should be any artist's goal who isn't trying to do a conservative take on a song when rearranging. A song that unleashes a new aspect of the original and brings it out in its own light can be just as rewarding, if not more, than the original.
  7. Just a reminder that Cyril's song Crushing Gravity can be found on YouTube as well:
  8. I never realized he posted it, being away at boot camp and all - enjoy one of the project mixes, courtesy of Chuck Dietz:
  9. Yeah, would've liked to see all of the MMX tracks taken . Oh well. Lots of good sources got left out from the series it seems.
  10. So this Kirby game has one of the best soundtracks of a Kirby game you could hope for, especially back in the SNES era. Someone should go mix it! Some of the awesome songs: Sand Canyon 1: Sand Canyon 2: Sand Canyon 3: Ripple Field 1: Ripple Field 2: Ripple Field 3: Grass Land 1: Grass Land 2: Grass Land 3: Grass Land 4: Dark Tower: Boss: King Dedede: Dark Matter Core: Zero: Good Ending:
  11. I take it you speak from experience heh.
  12. I could've been pretty harsh on the mixes - I was too tired to go through them thoroughly and just gave cursory thoughts. Got back here at almost 1 am.
  13. Thanks for the mixes everyone in the competition! Here's my cursory thoughts: She's a Squirter - Brandon incorporating chiptunes? Intriguing mix in some ways, although I feel there's something missing here. Pretty good though! Don't Make Me Cut You - oh shit. This mix starts off with some big bass (is this the dubstep that everyone keeps talking about nowadays?). The latter part of the song is where it really gets interesting, shifting completely into something different. It really gives you an appetite for something more though. Totally Rad Winter - nice melody here, but I would've liked to see more come of it Double Doctors - Some nice things going on but...that ending sucks! The Knight Who Says ROCK! - Rocking AMT - More rock! Something bothers me about the synth used as the melody after the guitar takes a break in the beginning (and is used later on as well). The Last of the Clan - Nice song, pretty relaxed & pulls it well. Two Minds Without a Single Thought - some nice ideas here, but timing issues hurt it a lot. Dubious Brother - I could see this mix being played at a club. Not much else for me to say, it's solid stuff. Under Construction - that synth needs more snazz to it! The lower end synth needs some work too. I like the ideas here, especially when it gets to the latter half. I wish I could vote for more than 3. Was surprised by what everyone put out!
  14. A little offtopic but I feel like I should add to this. If someone gives you a criticism, try to take the useful parts and work on that - everything else is just noise. Worrying about how the criticism is levied just serves to mess with you and your response to it is exactly why you don't do so. My own experience garnering criticism was a bit of a shock to me, but I understand that's how it is. It's a mindset you have to get used to, and IMO a good approach to life. My own criticisms aren't personal when I critique a WIP/song & is completely separate from how I think of the person who made the WIP/song. I'm going to listen to the tracks tonight! Anyone got any idea how voting is going to work?
  15. Happy birthday you two! Hope all is well!
  16. That's definitely Liontamer on the left, I want to say that's Jimmy (Big Giant Circles) on the right but it's hard for me to tell.
  17. Hey for those possibly interested - who wants to have OCR hotel rooms in the same block? Go read up on details and email hotel@magfest.org saying you want to be part of the OCR block!
  18. And so breaking news for today is that Nobuo Uematsu's band the Earthbound Papas is going to be at MAGFest: http://magfest.org/ !
  19. Ha, I came upon that song tonight and linked it onto Facebook - the surprising thing is that the music is by David Wise.
