Mega Man X: The Grand Maverick Remix Battle 2010
Bahamut replied to DarkeSword's topic in Competitions
Slightly offtopic, but if anyone happens to have a good entry and has a polished up track in before the end of December, get in touch with me and I will try to put it in the Maverick Rising album project if you want it in! -
OCR02105 - Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin "Fear of Haze"
Bahamut replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
As with the album, this track is good stuff - love the dramatic funkiness that this track has. Can't go wrong with more Morse! -
I'm surprised you guys didn't ask FireSlash for making a server

Thursday is when the fun kicks off! Also a word of advice for some of you - you'll probably want to get some people's phone numbers if you haven't met any of us before so you're not completely clueless at first, and so the fun can start asap.

I remember this track from the DoD - unfortunately I didn't really get a good chance to absorb it then due to lots of things going on with my life, but it's no surprise why this made it to first place for the month back then. It is full of soul that is pretty rare in music. I absolutely love the instrumentation in this song. The acoustic guitar and other ethnic instruments lend well for an emotional song like this. The lyrics take advantage of this setting greatly, bolstering this heartfelt tale. This could be one of my favorite tracks on OCR now, it's that deep & different.

OCR02102 - Mega Man "Morning Walk in the Burning City"
Bahamut replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
http://sites.google.com/site/megamanremixalbum/ This is a pretty damn good song - djp nailed the description of the song atmospherically, which is something you don't hear too often anymore musically. It has a bluesy feel at first due to the guitar & background instrumentation. It progresses later towards a more heavier sound which brings a sense of time moving to the song. Good job -
OCR02104 - Secret of Mana "Things We Didn't Know"
Bahamut replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Somehow I manage to get more and more impressed with each new track from VHD. I love how he finds ways to bring out strong elements of the original music and bring them out seamlessly, even in medleys. Great job! -
Yep, Infinity Mijinon - Brycepops beat me to it

Final Fantasy - Random Encounter (Album Preview)

To the music of Battle Scene no less! -
Yeah, generally it's not a good idea to pester people too much - that's why I prefer to keep in loose contact to give people some space since most people are tackling many things in their lives as well as the music. It helps also to keep things lighthearted somewhat as well. With Sixto though, I already spoke to him a few days ago, so we're on the same page.

This actually sounds quite interesting. Looking forward to it! Who was the one who ripped off the intro to Helloween's "I Want Out"? -

I remember that - I always was that it only played in like two battles in Golden Sun -
Where are they now? OC ReMixer edition.

I know mv is still around - something tells me you'll be seeing a mix by him in a few months -
Got a holy shit WIP from Dominic Ninmark (NitroFlash) - guy has some skills!

I'll just say that I'm not the only one who immediately thought it was obnoxious. You have songs like Noble Creature of Snow, The Leidenfrost Effect, The 4th Coming, Sweeping the Storming Skies...and String Chamellotron. If you REALLY want to keep it, I'll begrudgingly take it with the name, but just know that it still is glaringly ridiculous.

OCR02046 - GoldenEye 007 "Creeper at the Train Depot"
Bahamut replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is a pretty nifty piece - those 5 minutes passed like nothing, so it does a great job at holding your attention. In particular, the percussion melds well with the breakbeats, and the other instrumentation helps stretch the song out seamlessly. Not sure what the original bitterness was about, but I have to say that the song as it is is solid. -

Shouldn't the 3DS be compatible with DSi games for those getting it? -
I did not know about the comic - nice!

Happy birthday!

Sounds like my experience with ICO except it was fraught with big pixels - it worked but it was ugly. I may play this HD version of both games before shipping out to boot camp, but there's too many games I want to play before my gaming time becomes really limited.
-
I prefer to stay away from obnoxious names. I'm sure you could be more creative than that.
-
String Chamellotron...really?
-
Perhaps a few weeks later when a lot more final wavs get in.

What I've noticed with Civ 4 at least is that they design the game for lasting a long time, similar to what was intended with Crysis. Civ 4 ran pretty slow at times for me back when it originally came out, but several years later it ran smooth for me with little problems. I can see that happening with Civ 5.
