  1. Well, I absolutely LOVED the last Aquatic Ambiance remix that came out of Sweden (<3 Johann Krafft!) so this has a high bar set for it already... Wonderful introduction, the soundscape was beautiful and it really set up for what you guys did with the rest of the song. There's definite "moments of brilliance" throughout the song that, unfortunately, aren't always accented by the mixing. The lead guitar in the latter half, in particular, was drowned out and it felt like that wonderful soloing was buried as just another rhythm track I definitely think that deserves more attention in the song. Still, you captured the atmosphere of the original while still giving it your own feel, and it's one of the best sources out there, so kudos on both ends! The actual arrangement is a bit bipolar (if you'll forgive the poor analogy) - with two exceptions, every Aquatic Ambiance mix I've ever heard uses the source almost verbatim, and I think the parts of this mix that rely on the original melody experience the same shortfall. That's not to say it's not enjoyable, but it's a recurring issue that I've noticed with Aquatic Ambiance mixes in general and I wanted to bring it up anyway. The soloing and the piano, while they're mostly "inspired" by the source than actually derived from it, give the melody a lot of much-needed flair. This mix doesn't topple Vigilante's epic rendition from Kong in Concert, but it's definitely up there with the best. Great job on the first submission, I look forward to hearing more in the future!
  2. Yeah, I'd like to see you guys share the stage with the Minibosses if that's at all an option next year. It's a shame that didn't work out this year
  3. Haha, that's probably better since I don't know jack about sheet music I just didn't want to be picky since I was the one making the request. I really appreciate it
  4. To a couple artists, can you clarify which source you were using? Particularly, I'm referring to Level 99, ToN, and VHD's tracks, but anyone else who wants to share that information certainly can
  5. I thought I'd already commented on this before... strange. One of the most poignant, thoughtful, and meaningful remixes on the site. From the moment the song starts, you feel swept away into a journey of emotions and contemplation. It's rare that a song has the power to completely capture my attention and actually allow me to get lost in the music. I don't have the eloquence of some of the other posters in here, but some of the assessments have been spot-on about how emotional this track is. Personally, I like the SFX at the end - it feels fitting, since the entire track is so engrossing and captivating, that there be some sort of release at the end of the song that sends you back to the real world again. It may not have been executed in the right key, but it still feels like a satisfying conclusion that brings you back down to Earth after the song had done such an amazing job of taking you away to someplace else.
  6. I'll post the one good photo that I got tomorrow afternoon.
  7. I really want to learn to play "Pandora's Theme" on the piano, is there any chance I could get a MIDI file or sheet music or some other resource to help me? I was so captivated by the song, I would greatly appreciate any help if you could offer it. Thanks for sharing these, the songs I've listened to so far were fantastic arrangements, especially for completely original material! I can't wait to hear more from you!
  8. Um, I can't access the actual website for this project because Google keeps listing it as an attack site that will infect your computer with a trojan. Is this a known issue?
  9. Hells yeah... Awesome show tonight, thanks for putting up with my awe-stricken awkwardness after the show XD I'm a huge fan and it was great getting to see/meet you all. If you're ever in town again you know I'll be there! Saw Neminem, NNY, OmegaDonut, and mellogear there, too It was great meeting all of you, as well!
  10. Gonna leave in about an hour Every one of the 7 people I invited bailed or had to cancel for some reason, so it's just gonna be me and my brother but I'm still crazy excited!
  11. That's pretty much the fastest I've ever seen a Project thread moved here. Congrats on becoming semi-official!
  12. http://www.ocremix.org/torrents/ 10 of these projects have lossless versions available in the torrent, so that'd be a great way to knock out a chunk of searching for lossless stuff. This is probably common knowledge to most already, but I figured I'd bring it up as a good starting point in case you didn't already know.
  13. Yeah, I have to agree. A lot of the "album" was a miss for me, honestly, just due to stylistic clashes with my personal tastes, but there were a few that stood out - Sixto's K.K. Western WIP, Girlz Melon, Diggi Dis, and your song, OA Also, all of the short WIPs with "jm" listed as the artist name are top-notch. Who's responsible for those 3 songs?
  14. So, this thing's release has gotta be coming up soon, right?
  15. Well, this is damn bittersweet. I was looking forward to a proper release of this at some time, since I'm a HUGE Animal Crossing fan and would have liked to see this soundtrack done some proper justice. Still, this many Animal Crossing songs at once is a pretty great consolation prize, even if many of them are unfinished I appreciate the work you and all the contributing artists put into this, and I'm sure there'll be plenty of awesome songs for me to listen to when I get home from school that'll make this sad news a lot easier to swallow.
  16. Yo off-topic, I'm real happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Unmod was one of the best forums of ALL TIME!
  17. I think you just post it in this thread and Liontamer or whoever's in charge will add it to the database when he feels like it.
  18. Ahhh, it's a piano. That would explain that slight hint of a percussive element to the sound. Thanks! Also, I just discovered the "secret" ending to The White Lagoon. Exquisite piano playing! That's definitely the highlight of the album for me.
  19. Oh dude, this percussion is BADASS! The synth lead isn't always powerful enough, but it seems like you chose to focus more on the drums in this song and in that area, you did wonderfully! For me, the album was hit-or-miss some of the time but I definitely admire the effort and heart you put into all of this! I'm glad you were able to finish it up, and there are some real standout tracks (such as the last one you put up.) Congratulations! Also, I like the synth that you used throughout White Lagoon (the one found prominently in the intro,) can you explain to me how you got that?
  20. That means it's a topic you've posted in at least once before.
  21. OCR has really restored my faith in the concept of a true online community. I've left almost every community I've been a part of online because people degraded into douches and stopped welcoming new people in. However, I've really admired the sense of welcoming that I've found on these boards (as long as I avoid Off-topic and PPR, that is! ) Plus, the fact that a lot of you guys would move to a completely different state/region of the country and fly out annually to go to meetups says a lot about the community and it's one that I'd like to be a part of at some point You guys is cool peeps!
