I wanna thank The Coop for making this thread. It's really shown me what's out there with indie game design. Unfortunately, that's not always a good thing.
Played the first ten levels of this game and I can't take it anymore. The Coop was correct about everything he said. The game is gorgeous, easy, and has an incredibly limited music repertoire. But it is so BORING. Part of the thing that made platformers like Mario and Sonic so enjoyable was the constant shift in environment. Just when you got accustomed enough to one environmental hazard (whether it be underwater travel, a self-scrolling screen, or pinball flippers) a new one would be thrown your way. Turtix is the SAME GODDAMN THING again and again, with the only changes being the scope of the level and the types of enemies (but you still bop them on the head to beat em). You still traverse different paths to find all the diamonds and "secret areas." Oh yeah, you gain the ability to double jump as well. I only stuck it out as long as I did to face the first "boss," which is just a larger version of a regular enemy (something I didn't like about Yoshi's Island, BTW). The introductory screen even tells you how to beat him, but even that isn't necessary: it's just jumping on his head three times.
They need to mix this game up a bit. Then we'll see.
